  1. I recently painted a few parts with it , and had mixed results. On bare , clean plastic it wouldn't stick and finish was awful. Now I primed same plastic w Tamiya fine white primer , then painted over that w their color max gloss white and it looked beautiful w fantastic coverage . The price is good too
  2. Awesome looking wheels !
  3. Outstanding build ! You dont many of these built and you nailed it ! Thanks for joining BRBO
  4. Fantastic work ! Really like those colors together
  5. Holy smokes I missed this posting sorry ! I commented on it on fb ,totally missed it here . Awesome job and everything looks perfectly dirty ! Thanks again for participating
  6. I thought about that , but I'm even a worse plumber than carpenter...I'd end w pipes coming out everywhere lol. I ended up scratching up an intake from photos I found waiting for daughter to fall asleep to hide her Easter basket . Actually turned out decent Needs some putty to blend in , and the flanges w meng bolts added yet
  7. It only took forever lol fun being able to restore it ! Haven't chosen color yet, either faded yellow or red right now Thanks Kerry- I've gotta swap out the exhaust manifolds to make more space, it was suggested to use ones from bandag bandit. I'll keep eye out
  8. Very nice , makes ya appreciate new molds after building one of these . I have several Trumpeter kits
  9. Good idea Kerry !!! Sometimes power tools get us out of a mess..luckily this time no squirrels were hurt.. I ended up raising the radiator and cab slightly over a mm, and that was enough for the exhaust to clear . There might..big might be enough room to run turbo plumbing if..I'm able to change the exhaust flanges to a vertical mount . Going non turbo is still optional
  10. Well..minor set back..the engine didnt fit like I thought after mocking up exhaust. The turbos and manifolds hit frame. I relieved the rails , and probably end up changing to naturally aspirated engine . If anyone has the non turbo specific parts PM me thanks
  11. I usually snip off the tips of the axle posts that snap into wheel backs so I can remove as needed. When I'm ready to permanently install them, a touch of super glue locks em Far as the torque rods go, if the crossmember has a notch in them, stick the end w pin there..have the lollipop end at the axle . Some have a small hole , or notch they sorta fit.. I'll dig out my 4300 parts truck tomo for a look, havent really taken a good look
  12. Springs have sprung! Fabbed up a new set from 030x 156 evergreen strips. Found a front shot of a 6x6 kw , and noticed its mounts were much taller...bingo ! I also cleaned off the frame rails to finish the fish plates . Heres the dog bones I made to connect the spring to its rear mount ...and made too short . Easy peezy..chop some more and try again originally I wanted the boxy diamond plate fenders seen on C500 rigs . Trying the aftermarket and striking out..I found enough profile pics to scratch a set . Plastruct makes an excellent sheet of DP , and doesnt require a band saw to cut that's it for today !
  13. Guess this would be called a bed truck ? I wasn't adding gin poles or 5th wheel, just a heavy winch or 2 inside a cage. I found a photo of one pulling a water tank onto the bed, and might scratch one in process..dunno yet ! any feedback about them would be great, I'm just learning about these types of equipment. So far they're being quiet... probably confusing them since I'm home all day now ! Me Too !! I dont have much shelf space left for anything else right now !
  14. looks good Sam ! Really cool detail adding the screw holes to the deck boards . A little scuffing along the metal parts and you nailed it
  15. Its allowed , and looking forward to your build! Are you planning to add the lowboy behind it ? Trumpeter makes very well engineered kits , and instructions are generally well done
  16. Sooo...I knew I'd need to replace the front springs to taller stack after that huge engine caused them to sag.. That's using the kit springs lol !!! Anyone know a good welder ? Guess I'm making new springs. I broke out the envisioning tool..and mocked up the bed layout. That's 105k winch from plaskit , and definitely up to the task. I guesstimate a 24 ft bed . The frame will get chopped off right after the wheels , leaving room for the large roller seen on these trucks anyone who's built one , or seen them please jump in and feel free to make suggestions.
  17. Knocking this one right together ! I'd love to build a few more , but very limited to space lol You'll have a finished build in no time now , then ya have time to build your golf course out back
  18. We're already into April, had several builders finish their projects and many really making progress!!! Fun part of these groups is watching each build transform from a box of plastic to a finished model . Keep up the great work
  19. Thanks Sam ! I tend to get distracted but during our forced stay home, I've been knocking em out ! My first, and definitely not my last Hahaha found my envisioning tool...took a few days to read thru your playbook..and now ready to build Thanks Jim ! I'm gonna chop some length off the frame behind axles , yet to be determined
  20. Your awesome Kerry , laughed so hard I'm in tears
