  1. Yep I completely understood your description Thanks , yeah KFS tires are awesome . Originally I had planned using their terra tires , like monster truck ...but it affected my ground clearance too much
  2. Fantastic work, ditto ×10 what's already been mentioned
  3. Thanks everyone for their suggestions, I spent more time checking out the gin poles and they add more interest to the enormous bed space , and flipped up make a statement! Kerry - yeah lately I've tried to stay focused on one project, and work on that till its finished..or run out of detail parts I forgot to order lol . Theres so many projects that I want to tinker with The truck has its first mock up w the winch and bed tonite . Theres no channels for gin poles or structures underneath yet. The winch is a 105k from Plaskit.I just built a deck for it , raising it above the floor like most photos show them. and.... the bed scales out approximately 20 ft all that lower empty space will be tool bins chains rack and fuel tanks . The roller frame will be built onto a bulkhead /rear bumper .
  4. Wow , I never looked that close at most of the stencils in the kits..but they definitely messed up a few like Jim B said. Our unit had the driver / TC names along the bottom of windshield, and was frequently changed as people ETSd out . I remember the CARC stencils , but not where they went . Theres a site w tech manuals and stencil data shown, Jim b probably recalls it offhand
  5. Thank you for info ! I may add the gin poles to mine after all. I love your front bumper its fantastic!!!! I have a plan for building a guard around winch, and there will be spare tire mount also.
  6. I really suck at identifying transmissions, glad ya shared a photo.
  7. Nice recovery Mark. ! Glad to have ya along
  8. Wow nice work ! That short box definitely looks better
  9. A fellow modeler and I are finishing up a mini group build using Jerry's Decals and thought they were appropriate . I nearly ordered the Bandit set too
  10. I recently painted a few parts with it , and had mixed results. On bare , clean plastic it wouldn't stick and finish was awful. Now I primed same plastic w Tamiya fine white primer , then painted over that w their color max gloss white and it looked beautiful w fantastic coverage . The price is good too
  11. Awesome looking wheels !
  12. Outstanding build ! You dont many of these built and you nailed it ! Thanks for joining BRBO
  13. Fantastic work ! Really like those colors together
  14. Holy smokes I missed this posting sorry ! I commented on it on fb ,totally missed it here . Awesome job and everything looks perfectly dirty ! Thanks again for participating
  15. I thought about that , but I'm even a worse plumber than carpenter...I'd end w pipes coming out everywhere lol. I ended up scratching up an intake from photos I found waiting for daughter to fall asleep to hide her Easter basket . Actually turned out decent Needs some putty to blend in , and the flanges w meng bolts added yet
  16. It only took forever lol fun being able to restore it ! Haven't chosen color yet, either faded yellow or red right now Thanks Kerry- I've gotta swap out the exhaust manifolds to make more space, it was suggested to use ones from bandag bandit. I'll keep eye out
  17. Very nice , makes ya appreciate new molds after building one of these . I have several Trumpeter kits
  18. Good idea Kerry !!! Sometimes power tools get us out of a mess..luckily this time no squirrels were hurt.. I ended up raising the radiator and cab slightly over a mm, and that was enough for the exhaust to clear . There might..big might be enough room to run turbo plumbing if..I'm able to change the exhaust flanges to a vertical mount . Going non turbo is still optional
  19. Well..minor set back..the engine didnt fit like I thought after mocking up exhaust. The turbos and manifolds hit frame. I relieved the rails , and probably end up changing to naturally aspirated engine . If anyone has the non turbo specific parts PM me thanks
  20. I usually snip off the tips of the axle posts that snap into wheel backs so I can remove as needed. When I'm ready to permanently install them, a touch of super glue locks em Far as the torque rods go, if the crossmember has a notch in them, stick the end w pin there..have the lollipop end at the axle . Some have a small hole , or notch they sorta fit.. I'll dig out my 4300 parts truck tomo for a look, havent really taken a good look
  21. Springs have sprung! Fabbed up a new set from 030x 156 evergreen strips. Found a front shot of a 6x6 kw , and noticed its mounts were much taller...bingo ! I also cleaned off the frame rails to finish the fish plates . Heres the dog bones I made to connect the spring to its rear mount ...and made too short . Easy peezy..chop some more and try again originally I wanted the boxy diamond plate fenders seen on C500 rigs . Trying the aftermarket and striking out..I found enough profile pics to scratch a set . Plastruct makes an excellent sheet of DP , and doesnt require a band saw to cut that's it for today !
