Vintage Revell Parts Packs -complete set
Richard Bartrop replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That's too bad. I bought the Fiat specifically for the Cadillac engine and the chassis part with an eye to doing a Lightning Bug replica, and it's probably cheaper than trying to get all the resin parts separately. It's a great collection of kitbashing parts, and you really are missing out if you don't grab a few of these. All you people grumbling about the lack of a traditional rear in the Revell Model A and Deuce kits? Everything you need is right here in this kit. -

I feel the same about the ones who refuse to use Paypal, and insist on credit cards, but what can you do? -
Foil from Cigarette Boxes
Richard Bartrop replied to T-Ray's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That textured foil does make an effective thermal blanket. You can also get it on some kinds of fancy chocolate.. Paint thinner will dissolve the glue holding the paper backing on, and it will slide right off. -
The model car mob
Richard Bartrop replied to Chuckyg1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh, I have no use for those people. You don't have to time or desire to build a microscopically detailed masterpiece every time, that is perfectly reasonable, but there is something deeply wrong when someone whines that such gems are bad because their existence somehow makes that person feel sad and inadequate about their own efforts. Some modelers are better than others, and no matter how good you are, there is someone who will blow you out of the water, but it would be a sad and miserable world if we start dragging everyone down to the same level because a few sad people can't handle that. -

Nothing at all wrong with being a rivet counter, just so long as you don't insist that everyone else has to be one. -
IMC was all about lots of moving parts that didn't quite fit together.

Nice! I think this is the first time I've ever seen the Carioca rendered in three dimensions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't one of the big problems with the Jo-han dies is that there are no machines that can use them? -
AMT 1959 Cadillac Ambulance First Look
Richard Bartrop replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Monogram's '59 Cadillac was in fact their first foray into 1/25, and Revell's Caddy is a reissue of the Monogram kit -
AMT 1959 Cadillac Ambulance First Look
Richard Bartrop replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm wondering how much work would be involved in transferring the roof and interior to either the Revel/Monogram '59 Cadillac, or the '59 Chevy -
I built the MPC version wayyy back, which is why I want to take another stab at it. From what I remember, the detail put a lot of 1/25 kits to shame.
