  1. For a 1/24 scale car, it's like looking at a car that's across the street, so unless you're looking at it in a fog, any atmospheric effects are going to be effectively zero.
  2. Very nice! What did you use to get that polished aluminum finish on the hood and fenders?
  3. You got me curious if there were any 56B transkits for the MPC Indy car, but I couldn;'t find any online. Model Factory Hiro did make a 1/20 scale 56B, but with a MFH price tag.
  4. We're already there. Show me a hobby store that doesn't already have shelves full of pre built models. Some people chose to build models all the same, and I really can't see that going away.
  5. The European market still seems interested in pre WW2 subjects.
  6. That '26 roadster is the one I have my eye on.
  7. And yes, sometimes it's just easier to get out the Evergreen and build something that way.
  8. Considering how tiny Indy cars are compared to your average Detroit iron, probably not that odd. The tractor was probably included so the box wouldn't look quite so empty.
  9. When you're sticking together plastic parts that someone else made and someone else created, that's not so much Michelangelo, as paint by numbers, and is really not a reason to sneer at real creators.
  10. Applying some gentle pressure under the lid with a knife or screwdriver will sometimes break the seal, though the thinner idea sounds promising.
  11. Are we really suggesting that casting your own parts isn't scratchbuilding now?
  12. Bill has the right idea. If you create the file, then it's scratchbuilding. If you think creating that file involves no effort or creativity, then you don't understand the process, and your opinions on it are without value.
  13. They definitely didn't skimp on the detail where it mattered.
  14. The Jo-han classic kits are the ones that interest me, and if through some miracle they could resurrects those under another company name, I'd be totally good with that, but I'm not holding my breath.
  15. I didn't even know anyone had ever released a kit of the K70. Thanks for sharing!
  16. A beautifully detailed model, but with all that work, but I have to say, would it have been a bed thing to take some sandpaper and filler to that body?
  17. It's my understanding that the Black Beauty is a curbside too?
  18. I had it many moons ago. The thing I didn't like is that it didn't come with a set of stock whitewhall tires.
  19. Thank you for reminding me about the Heller kit. I've actually built that one. I guess it boils down to how badly do you want one, though if you wanted a specific Rolls Royce town car, my personal favourite would have to be this one built by Fernandez & Darrin for the Countess di Frasso.
  20. That sounds nice. There are Jo-Han and Italeri's Cadillac town cars, and there's Monogram's Duesenberg town car, but if it really has to be a Rolls, you could always try some kitbashing with either Monogram or Italeri's Phantom II kits. Both depict models made after 1930, but the Phantom II started production in 1929.
  21. Spotted in a Safeway parking lot today.
  22. I'd seen the thing not too long before on Mac's Motor City Garage, so this was easy.
