Those wiggles eyes are useful for so many things. If you don't want to play around with knives for the small ones, you can just sand the backs off.

There are better things than thread for ignition, though it's just right if ou're trying o simulate twine. I've used fishing line and fine wire, but lately I've liked the results I get with the fine styrene rod that Plastruct sells, you can get exactly the scale thickness you want, but it still has some flex, and you can use styrene cement.

Rodding trends - Lack of Model Ts?
Richard Bartrop replied to Earl Marischal's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think the people who'd actually want a stock T frame are the ones want to build either a pre-war "gow job" or the crazies who insist on building stock. The good news is, because T's are so tiny, a kit with both a complete stock chassis and a complete hot rod chassis would probably take up about the same mould space and use the about the same amount of plastic as a more modern car model. You'd probably have to include the extra parts anyway just to fill up the box. Basically, what you'd have is an updated version of AMT's Double T kit, but it wouldn't be the first time Revell has done a better version of an AMT classic. Of course, Revell already has a bunch of pretty decent T-bucket kits they could release, but a '26-27 T with both stock and rod chassis options, that would be something new. -
Looks great!

I got faked out by this one. I figured it had to be something Soviet or South American, but the headlights should have been an obvious clue.

I can't find my camera, but I got a package from Randy C today. A Heller Delahaye, two Monogram Rolls Royce Roadsters, and a Jo-han Cadillac V-16 Cabriolet.

I'm not worried too much about it. Hopefully as more progress pics are posted, more people will want to join in. Worst case scenario, you get to watch me go through my build pile.

INDY AND COVID

I'm just going to say that it's a sorry state of affairs when medicine is considered political. -

The Red Devil - Jo-han Cadillac Sport Phaeton
Richard Bartrop replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in WIP: Model Cars
A little more progress. I painted to firewall, and added a strap around the edge. the chrome surround is done with a Molotow pen. clear orange was added to the bottoms of the fuel pumps to simulate glass bowls full of gasoline- -

I know a few people here like to build them, and with Round 2 re releasing the '32 Imperial, it seemed as good a time as any for a classic car group build. To keep things simple, we'll go with the Classic Car Club of America's definition of a high end vehicle built between 1915 and 1948, and use their list of makes that make the cut, but it still leaves a huge selection of subject matter. https://www.classiccarclub.org/approved-classics This is for stock, and stock looking subjects. If you have a burning need to do a Bugatti rat rod. you do you, but this isn't the group for it; Already started projects are fine, and there's no end date, so here's hoping that we see some of your projects.

The kit is the 1967 issue of the '32 Imperial without the Gangbusters extras, but some very nice box art. This 1931 Imperial is the basis for the eventual colour scheme. A lot of classics have their chassis painted to match the body, but apparently Chrysler just painted the Imperial chassis semi gloss black. The body is done in Humbrol #20 Crimson, though the fenders will eventually be in a slightly darker colour.

Talking about the August releases over here, so as not to cause anyone any distress. Interesting comment about the popularity of the diecast Auburn Speedster. I'm wondering if there could be enough interest to justify refurbishing the ex-Pyro kit into something usable?

I was thinking of putting some paint on it this weekend, so that sounds like a great idea. In fact I'm thinking it might be fun to expand it into a general classic CPB.

When Harley Earl first tackled the Cadillac and LaSalle, he copied a Hispano-Suiza, so there was some creative borrowing in other companies as well. I think I'd have to give the edge to the Imperial over the L-29 as well. Not that I'd turn up my nose at one. Now you've got me wanting to finish off my Imperial convertible sedan.

Whatever works. I put it in the Links section because I thought the 1:1 Section was for reference pics that you took yourself.
