Best Results for Flocking
Perspect Scale Modelworks replied to ncbuckeye67's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I'll usually use enamel paint from the bottle as adhesive. I feel it makes it more sticky and the powder sticks better. With thinned Elmer's I have to go over some bald spots. -
Revell 1971 Boss 351 Mustang
Perspect Scale Modelworks replied to Justin Porter's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
So there's 3 versions of this kit? The Revell site shows Product #07699 and Model Set Product #67699. Tower Hobbies is showing the Carrera Revell version #RMX 14512. All with different prices. Anyone know what the difference is between the 3? -
Amazon Kit Deals
Perspect Scale Modelworks replied to OldNYJim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I ordered the AMT 68 GTO from Amazon through a seller named DDK Collectables. No huge discount but with free shipping it was about $5 less than other retailers. Best of all it arrived next day with zero damage. Not mad at Amazon over here. -
tamiya
Perspect Scale Modelworks replied to gary jackson's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
For me the Tamiya razor saw is good for big cuts where accuracy is not an issue. Last year I bought an off brand set of PE saws from Amazon just to see what they were like. I love them especially for intricate cuts. I've used them many times and they're still sharp. Even helpful in scribing. They can bend easily so as it's been said, go easy and let the saw do the work. My suggestion is to get both the razor saw and a set of PE saws. That way you're prepared for anything. -
Sweet! Geronimo makes some really nice stuff. Nice job & pics.

Thanks David. Not really my thing but some newer Caddies do look good with vogues and spokes even if they're 20" or more. -
Nicely done!

Thanks Mike. The MCG vinyl top is just tape with a pretty nice texture. Just like using masking tape. The challenge is getting the seams lined up correctly and try not to get any raised folds at the corners. -

Wow, you've lived there quite a few ups and downs of the brand. Good run and congratulations on your retirement. -

1959 Fleetwood Promo
Perspect Scale Modelworks replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Model Cars
Thanks Dan. Yeah I'll get around to it as soon as I finish the WIPs on the bench, and the ones in the stash I want to get to, and the 1 or 2 or 20 that I'll probably come across along the way. Thank you Carl! Thanks David. I guess it's what's called a 20 footer in 1:1, looks great from 20 feet away. That's about less than 1 foot in scale. Thanks Bruce. It's a Jo-Han promo I found on ebay. I'm pretty sure it's an Excel because there's no warpage. It had a basic flat chassis that I switched out for a more detailed 1960 chassis. -

Thanks. That's one way of looking at it. My lessons learned are to stick with the products I know and be patient. -
Nice cool custom. How'd you do the mohair?

Lol. Thanks! Thank you -
I'm calling this one done for now. It was sprayed with Tamiya white primer then the body was sprayed with Tamiya light blue metallic. The primer on the roof was sanded and sprayed with Tamiya clear. Then it sat for a year or so. When I finally got around to finishing it I was out of TS 13 clear so I used some Krylon Maxx Crystal Clear Acrylic. I let it cure for about a week then wet sanded and buffed. I did see the clear made the blue darker is some spots. About a week later I discovered cracks in the hood. A day later the trunk was cracked and now pretty much all over except the roof.? So I just threw it together and called it done. I'm not sure if this can be fixed but for now I'm going to put it aside and get back to it some other time.
