  1. Very nicely done!
  2. I love the idea Les, but as a separate CB, like the Peking to Paris. Propose it as a new CBP and see what responses you get.
  3. A work of art! Thanks for the ride, its been a fun journey!
  4. This build represents a very capable high-end entrant for a cross-country race. It is equipped with a high output V-8 engine paired with two electric motors that can augment the gas engine for more speed, or run separately to conserve gasoline. My additions to the oob kit are as follows: Added printed wheels I scaled to match the staggered kit tires, and altered the mounting to match the kit wheel mounts for a perfect fit & painted them Createx Satin Gold. The print file is from Black Box on Cults3D. Photo etch front and rear air vent screening, front placard, rear 918 Spyder lettering, shoulder belt hardware, front Porsche badge & disc rotor skins are from Hobby Design. Shoulder belts are white ribbon painted the same color as the seats. I designed and printed a Porsche factory fire extinguisher that comes stock on the 918. It’s hard to see in front of the passenger seat but I just wanted to add something else to the interior. On the engine, I used yogurt sealing foil for exhaust blankets, and fiberglass screen to replicate the heat shields on the catalytic converters, aged the tranny a bit, and heat stained the exhausts based on photos. Additionally, though kit items, the rear canards are not indicated on the instruction sheet, and I’ve never seen them on another build. I added those after figuring out how.
  5. Back to your original question. I was looking at this one a while back but didn't pull the trigger. I haven't bought from these folks in the past so check the forum for comments about them. http://www.resinrealm.net/Star/STAR Models/Belly_Tanker.html
  6. Though this one defies that assumption. https://www.streetmusclemag.com/news/hot-rods-you-should-know-tom-beattys-1951-belly-tank-lakester/
  7. I saved this article a while back when I was planning mine. Like you said, very simple frame. https://www.motortrend.com/features/belly-tank-racer-east-coast-custom/
  8. When did you get the body? I've been nagging him for 2 years now.
  9. Good stuff! Every time I say this is my last Run, great new ideas pop up. I'm liking the service vehicle, and full size car ideas, personally.
  10. Finishing up as well. I have some detail items to add but the 918 will be at the start line.
  11. Awesome! Glad its back as well.
  12. I bought a couple of files from him! Good stuff.
  13. Check this out. I saw it a while back when I was contemplating buying a scanner.
  14. My only altered. Did a build thread on this a couple of years ago.
  15. Awesome job!
  16. Sorry to hear about your loss Mike. Nice work on the sink!
  17. Awesome work there!
  18. I painted the wheels I printed for my 918 and decided to do a quick mock-up, so I stuck on the front & rear fascia and put decided to check the windshield for fit. Lo and behold, the curvature of the windshield doesn't match the curve of the frame. Dunno what I'll do to make it work. I think the the part I glued on the inside of the frame distorted it somewhat, as I've never heard of anyone else having this issue. Murph strikes again!
  19. Awesome job James! I designed and printed a body but still haven't gotten around to doing anything with it (par for me). I may have to pirate your chassis design to get me in the mood.
  20. Perfect fit! Nice detail as well.
  21. Well done!
  22. Sorry for the lack of updates but I haven't had much bench time. I had painted my 918 back in September but used liquid mask on some of the harder places to mask with tape and it was a headache to remove. This was the hardest model to paint that I've ever done. Lots of nooks & crannies that needed to be black. In the end it turned out pretty well. The color is beautiful and if I had worked more on smoothing the color before clearing it would be a perfect paint job. Now to put it all together.
