Keep in mind that there are different resins just like there are different plastics. Not only that, resin formulas have changed and been improved over the years. I think it would not be accurate to compare resins made 3 years ago to those produced today.

Quick update on my 918. I did some detailing on the engine, which I would not have done if this wasn't in a contest because the engine will not show once the car is done. However, I wanted to be able to post an engine pic. One thing I've found is that this kit seems to be a combination of the prototype and the production car because some of the parts on the engine I only found on pics of the prototype. Interesting. The second pic is the prototype engine, and the third one is one posted by a guy having his production 918 worked on.

I know its not a popular option (Shapeways that is), but Jeff at Kingtoys has one, though I don't see the water pump and drive accessories. You'd have to ask Jeff about those. Yes it can, and I use Alibre myself for CAD, but since he referenced TC I just referred to that, and Meshmixer because its free and easy.

I could've sworn I answered this question before. Anyway, since you're versed on Tinkercad you can create adapters. I have in the past and used Meshmixer or Blender to add them to the drawings for the wheels. Its not difficult. Or you can print them and then glue them in. I've done both. In the pics below the original is on the left and the altered is on the right to fit the Revell Porsche 918. I printed adapters to fit Maisto diecast wheels onto the Revell 71 Cuda. Great project Martin! Yeah, I think vacuforming is the most expedient route, using the cut off piece as the mold for a buck.

I have that kit and empathize with you of the fit issues thru my test fitting. I haven't started building it yet. Btw, I just used Aleen's Sticky Glue on some tin foil and it worked quite well. You can get it from Michael's.

I have a couple years old HP laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 chip and 12 gig of ram and never had a problem. I use Alibre Atom for my CAD drawings but there is a lot more support online for Freecad & Solidworks. I wanted something I could own so I went the Alibre route. As far as learning to do parts, you can get up and running fairly quickly with any of those. As for bodies you need to get Blender and get proficient, which is a different animal. I plan to take some classes for Blender but am really just focused on parts right now that I can sketch out in CAD. Whatever you do, have fun.

That model looks to have both an HDMI and VGA. If that's the case and you're satisfied with the display quality I think you're good to go.

While there are a couple of bodies out there (not the correct year) at least one of them have a comment that the body is not printable when reduced to scale. That's one of the issues with finding printable files, some are good, some not so good. If you can find a printable file, you can send it to Craftcloud or another service to have it printed. The problem is finding a file that will print, and your Scout looks like a unicorn.

I've run into some problems with my Monza and don't have the energy to keep it going. Soooo, I'm changing my entry to something that requires basically no fabrication, tho I will add my personal touches here and there. My new entry will be the Revell Porsche 918 Spyder. I've had it a long time and just need something to challenge me without me losing the rest of what little hair I have ?.

Like Bill, I never get enough bench time to get in a slump, but I do get discouraged when things aren't going according to plan (like now). In those instances I move to another build. I typically create build plans for my kits which keeps me researching and planning so when I need to move to a new project its planned out and by then I'm anxious to get to it.
