Biggles! Swallows and Amazons, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Dambusters by Paul Brickhill, WO Bentley's and Fangio's autobiographies, Speed Six by Bruce Carter. Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. Lots of books about WW2 flying. The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger. Mike at Wrykin and Mike and Psmith by PG Wodehouse. The Moomins series by Tove Jansson. How to be Topp and Back in the Jug Agane by Geoffrey Willans. Metamorphosis and The Castle by Franz Kafka. Lots more, but gave up on Sartre and Camus. And you're right Pete the book is better than the film, can't watch any Lord of the Rings films. Maybe the Dambusters is the exception because they had real Lancasters and a great cast. Not too shabby a plot either!

Clever - a car with it's own built in nursery slope for avid skiers!
-
I eventually got that it was a type III on the basis that the car is clearly at a fairly recent show, and an enthusiast such as the owner clearly is would have chosen the type III for it's more powerful engine, better for use in modern traffic! Good challenge, thanks Mike!

Lambo's are rubbish anyway. Close up and in the real world they are a bit less than well conceived and built. At least those of the Countach era. No tears shed here.

We have four entirely different cats. One kills the mouse or rat, one brings it indoors sometimes, one poses beside it and one sleeps all day and eats all the food he can get out of the can or box of biscuits. But they all creep into the kitchen and explore the food bin when they get the chance. They are very grounding. And funny!

Nettle soup is really good.

Ratatouille, anyone? What's for afters?” “Well, there's, uh, rat pie, rat pudding, rat sorbet or ..." After all, people eat Spam. Free range rat sounds almost good! We've fattened and eaten snails from the garden, ok with garlic butter but a bit gritty. Only did it the once, but if that were all there was...

My dad and his mates had a few days leave in Delhi during WW2. They went for a curry, but something was not right, 'This isn't chicken, this is rabbit!'. 'Oh no no no sa'ab. Him not rabbit. Him cat! Maybe we'll have to get used to some different sources of protein. Pass the chilli sauce!

Oh you don't want that Ray, it's a terrible kit. I'll take it of your hands...? Seriously, you cannot get this kit in the UK nowadays and I want one badly! I hope you enjoy it, sure you will. Cheers, -Don.

I like it, you've captured the feel of a well-used club racer.

One-off Build quiz (Deadline Sep. 5, 2020 0:00 CET)

A dramatic machine but sadly a misinterpretation by Zagato of Frank Costin's aerodynamic design. Not a great success, but just look at it! I love those brutal V8 Maseratis. -
A rare beast! Thanks David -Don.

The new Ford van does look good. They used to be everywhere when I was young. What's the cream and beige roadster in one of your shots above? Delage?

One-off Build quiz (Deadline Sep. 5, 2020 0:00 CET)
DonW replied to carsntrucks4you's topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Well I got this immediately, I love cars like this, but I did have to check the date. Thanks Mike and Steve! Cheers, -Don. -
Ugh. I had no idea and less interest. Not my kind of car. What was it powered by? I suspected the Ford connection because of the clumsy grille and the rectangular secondary lights that jar with the rest of the design. I did spend a lot of time looking for this gem but to no avail... Keep 'em coming, Mike!

Nice, very nice - would it be allowed to run in any official drags without a roll bar?

I wondered if it was posted on April 1st but it was 5 days after that..

Big V8s
DonW replied to unclescott58's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
In fairness the subject of the thread is 'Big V8s' although some 4-cyls have crept in! -
Despite my comment in French it really wasn't easy despite knowing the oily bits came from Renault.?

Beautiful kit of a beautiful car, although I agree they did look a 'tad squashed'. Fabulous to drive, too, by all accounts. I'll never get the opportunity!

There's no need to ask why! Like there's no need to ask why these cars are worth many millions... Beautiful.
