  1. Looks good. Oddly enough I was reading about Walt Prey and the Gypsy Rose in this month's Classic and Sportscar magazine:
  2. And the last photo, from the front, looks fabulous.
  3. How do you close the bonnet on the exhaust side? Nice overall shape and look, if the front wings were closer to the wheels. The wooden body is nicely done but doesn't fit the Blower era. Too Edwardian. Lose the wood and paint it all red, drop the front wings and wrap the Brooklands silencer in asbestos tape and it would be stunning. But that's just my opinion! Cheers, -Don.
  4. Studebaker Hawk meets Daimler Dart. I doubt it. I haven't got a clue but I'm looking forward to finding out what it is!
  5. As Michael knows, I'm not a fan! But then I don't like the old Mercedes 190SL either and I know a lot of people do. Good challenge though!
  6. They are great, pretty well made of, stainless steel, and chunky to hold. We got one for our daughter from the local market, oddly enough. There's some online although Amazon is out of stock.
  7. We come in peace...
  8. ?Joe's Maser was a 5000GT What the factory quoted (and fitted best into the lyrics) and the truth were never quite the same thing! Great song though - and a nice Bora.
  9. I do hope you aren't talking about the same order here, Bill!
  10. Dad was out in Burma flying Spits with 155 squadron. when a DC3 landed and taxied in. In his words: 'Then a beautiful leg appeared, then another, then two more, then the Canadian crew. 'Bats' Krohn was the first to run out, being CO, to welcome our charming guests. It was Vera Lynn and her sidekick. 'Bats stood us down from readiness and Vera insisted on getting up on the wing of a Spitfire and these two girls sang their hearts out, bless them. Our squadron was very near the enemy positions and Vera Lynn along with her sidekick knew that only too well. It was known that many, many, big names of the entertainment world came no further than Delhi. Our little charmer (Vera Lynn) had more guts in her little finger than that lot put together. I should love to know that she reads this and I am sure the appreciation of her effort was wholehearted from all of 155 squadron, all 200 of them.'. Very few celebrities visited the front line, but she did!
  11. I'll be fine once I get my meds...?
  12. I suspect the front two engines drove the front axle and the rear two the back axle. So it would cancel itself out. However, it might overheat in traffic with that grille blanked off...! Seriously it's a crying shame this never got built up to run. Cheers, -Don.
  13. Thanks guys!
  14. What does that mean, Snake?
  15. Just cool it with those negative waves, Moriarty...
  16. Thanks, Mike.It worked out OK, anyway!
  17. 'antsy' is a good way to put it. I'm glad to be tall at the moment, even though it means I'll never get to drive a Lancia Stratos. We have no enforcement on masks here in South Wales. About 20% of people do, mostly the old 'uns.
  18. A great day. Does anyone know what the 'D' in D-Day stands for? VE day is of course Victory in Europe. Similarly VJ day. I have a photo of my Dad, in well-worn tropical RAF uniform, squatting on a squadron office desk like a demented frog. On the back of the photo is written: 'Self, drunk, on VJ day'. But what the D stands for I have no idea.
  19. 4 confrontations with people in the local supermarket who don't seem to quite get what a 2 metre exclusion zone means. Or as one said 'I've got to get my shopping!' So let's be clear, we all have to stay at least 2 metres apart - unless we're doing our shopping! Brilliant. That'll keep the virus at bay.
  20. Now the wheels make sense. Makes the 356 look attractive!
  21. So you got a Tiger 1? Just watch out for Oddball.
  22. What engine does it have? I'm not into Fords but there are some interesting ones, like yours. I had a friend with a Mk 2 that ran a Rover V8 (215 c.i. Buick by another name)on 51/2J steel wheels. Squirrelly, but would do a genuine 140 mph. It was a well-worn red and looked completely standard except for the big tailpipes. It was known as the Red Bomber.
  23. And don't get me started on the wheels! In the real world, shallow sidewalls and thin spokes lead to discomfort and disaster.
  24. I think these cars have little diesel hybrid engines in the front and they're carrying some big Dodge engines somewhere Don't know how it all got started, don't know what they do with their lives... (thanks, Bob,).
  25. My first BMW 2002 had two twin-choke 45mm Webers. If you like operatic engines, bolt some Webers on! It's a shame you can't get kits like this at the local model shop any more.
