  1. Nope. not from choice. There's a few enterprises you don't wanna live near. Some loony chopping down beautiful trees included!
  2. I get their reasoning in a twentieth century context. I wonder why those caveats were applied back in the Welsh Valleys in 1846. Maybe the same reasons. In those days this house was in open land. Re. Home Owners Associations. In the UK we have some areas ruled by the watchers who live behind net curtains. When you do anything really outrageous like arrive in a car with a loud exhaust, the nets twitch. These things are formed by good intentions, but: The best laid schemes o’ Mice an’ Men Gang aft agley, An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain, For promis’d joy!
  3. The deeds of our house (built in 1846) stipulate that we can't run an abbatoir or make glue on the property. They were spoilsports in those days too!
  4. Fantastic model, especially given it's less than 2 inches long with a 2.6 inch wingspan!
  5. Looks convincing, but I'd always thought Pro Mod bodies were carbon fibre or similar composite material?
  6. Looks good. Oddly enough I was reading about Walt Prey and the Gypsy Rose in this month's Classic and Sportscar magazine:
  7. And the last photo, from the front, looks fabulous.
  8. How do you close the bonnet on the exhaust side? Nice overall shape and look, if the front wings were closer to the wheels. The wooden body is nicely done but doesn't fit the Blower era. Too Edwardian. Lose the wood and paint it all red, drop the front wings and wrap the Brooklands silencer in asbestos tape and it would be stunning. But that's just my opinion! Cheers, -Don.
  9. Studebaker Hawk meets Daimler Dart. I doubt it. I haven't got a clue but I'm looking forward to finding out what it is!
  10. As Michael knows, I'm not a fan! But then I don't like the old Mercedes 190SL either and I know a lot of people do. Good challenge though!
  11. They are great, pretty well made of, stainless steel, and chunky to hold. We got one for our daughter from the local market, oddly enough. There's some online although Amazon is out of stock.
  12. We come in peace...
  13. ?Joe's Maser was a 5000GT What the factory quoted (and fitted best into the lyrics) and the truth were never quite the same thing! Great song though - and a nice Bora.
  14. I do hope you aren't talking about the same order here, Bill!
  15. Dad was out in Burma flying Spits with 155 squadron. when a DC3 landed and taxied in. In his words: 'Then a beautiful leg appeared, then another, then two more, then the Canadian crew. 'Bats' Krohn was the first to run out, being CO, to welcome our charming guests. It was Vera Lynn and her sidekick. 'Bats stood us down from readiness and Vera insisted on getting up on the wing of a Spitfire and these two girls sang their hearts out, bless them. Our squadron was very near the enemy positions and Vera Lynn along with her sidekick knew that only too well. It was known that many, many, big names of the entertainment world came no further than Delhi. Our little charmer (Vera Lynn) had more guts in her little finger than that lot put together. I should love to know that she reads this and I am sure the appreciation of her effort was wholehearted from all of 155 squadron, all 200 of them.'. Very few celebrities visited the front line, but she did!
  16. I'll be fine once I get my meds...?
  17. I suspect the front two engines drove the front axle and the rear two the back axle. So it would cancel itself out. However, it might overheat in traffic with that grille blanked off...! Seriously it's a crying shame this never got built up to run. Cheers, -Don.
  18. Thanks guys!
  19. What does that mean, Snake?
  20. Just cool it with those negative waves, Moriarty...
  21. Thanks, Mike.It worked out OK, anyway!
  22. 'antsy' is a good way to put it. I'm glad to be tall at the moment, even though it means I'll never get to drive a Lancia Stratos. We have no enforcement on masks here in South Wales. About 20% of people do, mostly the old 'uns.
  23. A great day. Does anyone know what the 'D' in D-Day stands for? VE day is of course Victory in Europe. Similarly VJ day. I have a photo of my Dad, in well-worn tropical RAF uniform, squatting on a squadron office desk like a demented frog. On the back of the photo is written: 'Self, drunk, on VJ day'. But what the D stands for I have no idea.
  24. 4 confrontations with people in the local supermarket who don't seem to quite get what a 2 metre exclusion zone means. Or as one said 'I've got to get my shopping!' So let's be clear, we all have to stay at least 2 metres apart - unless we're doing our shopping! Brilliant. That'll keep the virus at bay.
  25. Now the wheels make sense. Makes the 356 look attractive!
