Moebius Comet... Wild Bubbletop Show Rod- Done! 3-17
misterNNL replied to Impalow's topic in WIP: Model Cars
My only problem with what you have shown us so far is that your work bench is way too clean! -
Yep it is the latest offering from the guys at Gas Monkey Garage". It is also a cover car on the latest issue of Rodder's Journal magazine in case you're looking for some in depth photo coverage of that exact car.

Those lights need some help my friend. Being in that location might be OK but the mounts look too weak. Something more mechanical or possibly even retractable on cylinders so they could be tucked away when not in use. The rest of your design works really well.

I did a very small diorama last year of a 1940's soap box derby car under construction. I put it up on wooden saw horses and added some tools around for extra detail,The car is in the bare wooden frame stage with no body covering so I added some saw dust and wood chips to the display base by spreading some white glue around in spots and sanding some basswood over it.Your solution is obviously "twisted" but works well

This would be a scratchbuilder's nightmare with all of those compound curves everywhere !! -
Spyder Karting
misterNNL replied to Alyn's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Another modern twist on this theme would be to load a couple drifting three wheel trikes onto a rear platform. -
Nice work Daniel. It looks like the pickers have already been there scrounging some parts from it. Thanks for sharing.
-
Great concept that is very well done. Thanks for not turning into a monster four wheel thing. "Low-slow and rollin coal".
-
That fastback profile is a natural for this body style. Another "shoulda coulda" been "thing I guess

Curse you photo Bucket for not allowing us to see these images !!

Stunning work. There is a real moment of truth for all of us when we post these enlarged photos of our models to several times their normal size. No hiding flaws then for sure. The level of finish is incredible. The dash details alone would take me weeks of work to achieve that detail and quality. Will you be adding some chrome port holes and extended exhaust tips ? Thanks for sharing !

If this were my project I would be planning a metallic finish in differing shades with some signs of abrasion from contact with debris while in use. For decals or markings how about a futuristic rental car theme such as "Rent-A-Rocket" or something like that. The only limits here are your imagination.

For display purposes I would suggest having a display where the base for the saw is anchored somehow otherwise the belt tension would instantly pull the saw towards the power unit. Great detail and weathering work on everything. Thanks for sharing.

What did you see on the road today?
misterNNL replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
After I picked up my '84 Chevy SUV at the dealership body shop,I drove around the back side of the building when leaving and spotted a 1960's vintage Rolls Royce parked in a row of used cars! The little kid's song"one of these things is not like the others, One of these things does not belong" kept running through my head. Something about that gold plated grille and hood ornament just jumps right out at you. Turns out it was only there for a few hours and then was going back inside the service shop and up on a lift where it would be safe and warm as it belongs to the poor guy who owns the dealership. Did I mention that his '53 Cadillac Coupe DeVille was in there too for an engine rebuild. Some guys really have it rough huh? -
Happy AMT/IMC/MPC/Revell Day!

I don't care what anyone says....that's some funny stuff right there .Happy scale day to all builders(too bad for all those working in those higher numbers scales) -
Hello everyone!!! I'm an old new guy here!!
misterNNL replied to Chu's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself
Glad you and your family are here and safe. I am sure that the truck kits are also a lot easier to find here than they were in PR. -
Looking great at this point! I will be watching your progress.
-
I particularly like that last photo. The hood piece gives it a "bird of prey" look that is very cool.
-
Very nicely done. The finished car has sort a formal look to it. What piece did you use for the trunk? I built a '34 Ford sedan decades ago and used the deck piece from an AMT '25 Ford coupe for mine.
-
George Jetson would be proud!
-
Stunning beauty. So well done that it looks like production Chevrolet model.
-
An additional suggestion might be to create a tonneau cover for the passenger side of the cockpit and rear seat openings as an attempt at a more aerodynamic profile for this battle ship sized sand cruiser.
-
Great saves all around Glen.I particularly live the two door wagon. You have some really good "Cycolac(the plastic those were made from) surgery"skills. That crack on the Mopar wagon was not a crack..it was the size of the San Andreas fault !
-
Thanks Dennis. That was gonna be my "constructive comment".No fenders on any real TROG cars in any magazine coverage I have ever seen and read.
-
Excellent wood look to your sides as the real cars used mostly clear grained panels for the sides.
