  1. Looks like it's ready for a bug out adventure. Cool stuff
  2. Looks great Shane. I won this kit in a raffle at my club meeting, and always wondered what I'd do with it. Yours gives me some inspiration.
  3. Friggin awesome dude. I need to get that Trumpeter Falcon...
  4. Oh man. I really dig this thing. It's soo wrong it's right. IF I may offer my opinions, take them or leave them.... Once you get the bodywork done. I think rescribing the body lines will really make it look good again. I would cut out the "backing" of the grille shell, and get a photoetched grill for it. It's only fitting. I also think in my opinion, that it needs to be painted a high flake blue, with a pearl clear, a 'chute on the back, and gold leaf decals for it's name of exacting what you called it... "The Thing" which I believe is a perfect name for it. I really think it has potential to be wild. One other thing I would change about it, would be to heat, and turn the pieces hanging down in front of the rear tires, to give it a faring look to it for aerodynamics. I can already envision it and it makes me happy inside!
  5. You guys aren't going to believe me, but the BEST looking dog dish/trim ring wheels I have EVER seen, that look 100% legit to my picky eyes, were from the PALMER '70 Mustang kit. Yes, Palmer. I seen them in a kit a friend of mine had, and could not believe my eyes.
  6. Sucks about the two arenas here. I remember going to the circus, disney on ice, and a hockey game at Cincy Gardens when I was really young.
  7. And if that's not inspiring, I don't know what is.
  8. 2 Mustangs, and 2 Chargers (one a was a 383 auto, the other a 440 4spd I believe) . 1 of each were obliterated. The Charger resurfaced recently and was restored to the movie black paint. (wasn't originally a black car) The Mustang, was not modified by Jack Roush. It was modified by Max Balchowsky, Look that guy up. The top pic isn't the real car. It's been moved from KY to TN. Too many things wrong and not the same w/ that car. Supposedly the real deal is now in the owners garage. Why they don't get it into running condition is beyond me.
  9. That is all a great set of reasons right there. Sounds like I need to live there too! Lol
  10. Just use a screwdriver, or reach inside ;-)
  11. Your build is fantastic. I always liked the AMT 71 Charger and Duster kits. I once saw a real 71 Charger at a car show in the Dodge color that matches your Pontiac color... not sure of the name now, but it was beautiful. Only thing I don't care for are the rear tires. I think they are meant to look like drag radials, but they look like truck tires.
  12. Thanks, I didn't want to dive too far into polishing it. Too many edges in my opinion. I gave it a lick and a prayer and it turned out well. Plus, when I cleared it, I had to use 2 cans because they were both just about empty. Had just enough to put about 2 coats on it Thanks. I really love Tom's designs and always thought they were cool seeing some of the older releases growing up. I wanted to do my favorites justice and build really nice versions of the box art cars. I do plan to take it with me to a few shows this fall.
  13. Nicely done. And great foil work too.
  14. I work in I.T. Mostly project coordination and phone support. I hate it but it pays the bills better than when I worked at auto parts stores making minimum wage.. Although I really enjoyed being a delivery driver for auto parts. I am self taught in welding/fab, mechanics, and bodywork/paint though. I don't claim to be a pro, but I consider myself good at it. Plus I have an eye for detail.
  15. That is the RIGHT look! Love it. Coyote power and down low. That is wonderful. Super clean too. Good work.
  16. Just checked the ad, it's in Batesville, Indiana. Which is a little far for me. But maybe I could get out there and take more photos of it or something at some point. I imagine it won't last long.
  17. That's here in Cincy?? I'm gonna have to do some digging!
  18. Lol thanks. I got lucky on this one. A friend of mine had it and just got it for trade/sell material, and I always sorta wanted this kit.
  19. Just finished this one up. It's an older Fujimi kit reissued as Testors. I always liked the 2nd gen RX7's but not enough to own one without swapping a Ford engine into it. Anyway, I painted it Tamiya Titanium Gold and the interior is a rustoleum satin maroon. I built this one to replicate a car a friend of mine used to own many years ago as far as the color scheme goes. I didn't particularly care for how the interior and chassis goes together on this car. The body is really nice though. I added some foil behind the rear tailights and behind the front parking lights. I used maroon flocking on the interior floorboard because it was really basic and had no carpet texture... and looked as if it could have been set up as a battery powered car... so no floor detail at all. The decals were old and beginning to yellow, and luckily I was able to get the yellow crud off the back of most of them and they turned out just ok. I used some black wash and detailed out the panel lines as well as the wheel details. Oh, and I didnt realize until after I took the pictures...... my front wheels were on backwards. Whoops. So after I took pics I swapped the rears from side to side since I glued the chassis together already and the front wheels are screwed to the spindles. Oh well, looks better now. But these are the pics prior to that. Anyway, enjoy. Let me know what you think.
  20. Yes, everything except the distributor was from the kit. I swapped the tires for older versions w/ the lettering. Thats the only other change I made.
  21. It's a nice car, but it's DeSoto and Plymouth cousins were much more beautiful.
  22. You're welcome. I have been wanting to make more salt flat cars lately. I know a guy who has a raggedy looking white/red Edsel wagon.... and he uses it at Bonneville as a push car. Wagons are way cool for that stuff. Some pop-sickle sticks cut, distressed, and "bolted" to a bracket on the nose.... good to go.
  23. Great looking build! Love the Dinki Di can in there too
  24. Flintstone wagon body.... hunkered down over some whitewalls and salt flat discs, set up for Bonneville.... either as a 2 tone push car, or a lettered up land speed car with the blower from the Fireball Roberts Ford?!?
