  1. Correct. It started as a '74 model, and went all the way up to late '78, but James Garner didnt like the '79 model, so they kept the '78 for a couple years.
  2. Couldnt find one for a reasonable price and I already had this one sitting in the closet.
  3. Bob, where did you get the flat hood? Only place I knew of that sold the flat hood was A/FX Resin but they were sold and havent updated their site in years...
  4. So then I started on the rear fenders... I added a super thin square of sheet styrene behind the panel attached w/ CA glue for strength. Seemed to work great! Just have to do some body filler to both sides and it should look good. Also did some more filler work to the hood and I'm really satisfied w/ it now. Looking pretty close! I think I just need to add the rub strips on the door, along w/ rocker molding, and wheel opening trim, and upper door trim along with side trim around the windows. Not exactly sure how I'll be able to get that to look good... but I'll try....
  5. Got a bunch of pictures for an update... the rough bodywork is done finally. here's some pics from along the way. Didnt like the contours of the fenderwells, so I added some scrap styrene and then sanded Added a scrap wedge to the front of the fender to help with lining up the front bumper As you can see the bumper fits a LOT better than it did out of the box! Also added a wedge of scrap to the front left edge of the hood, now the hood looks good too. Overall, with the new filler the T-top delete looks even smoother
  6. Tinkered with 1 of 2 of my Cannonball cars last night! Found out the older issue of the AMT '70 Galaxie cop car has narrow firestone tires, and the newer issue comes w/ wider goodyear tires. So I found some tires in my parts box that were identical to the recent issue. So this car will have a slightly foot print. And since it's a retired cop car, You can't have a cop car without the rear roll bar/compartment separator (not sure what that things called actually) So I scratchbuilt something last night thats similar... yet functional. First rollbar I've ever made actually. The round stock I used for this may have been a touch too big but its all the hobby shop had at the time. You'll see I tucked the rear bars in on the sides as much as possible to keep it concealed. it hides in the car pretty well actually... You may have also noticed in the first interior shot that it has a stick shift sitting there... I'm debating on it. Since the engine that comes with this kit is actually a 4 speed, I thought about putting that shifter in there. Or cutting the 4speed off the back of the engine and gluing an automatic on it so that I can fit the police scanner and equipment on the trans hump... still debating.
  7. What irked me today.... drivers who dont clean off their windows or headlights/taillights in bad snowy weather...
  8. The parts box of Australia also has a similar set
  9. Great idea Richard. I may do that. I can't get the windows out because I apparently glued them in with a whole tube of glue. I wanted to remove the center window trim too. Oh well. Mild custom it will be. I know o want to remove the drip rails now that I see yours
  10. I had issues with their app on my phone all day yesterday
  11. I'm having a bad day. But I have a bad day every day I have to come to work...
  12. If I wasnt on such a roll w/ my Rockford Files Firebird I'd work on my two cars....
  13. Ah, didnt think of Modelhaus. Don't know why since I've bought stuff from them before Thank you.
  14. Movies, TV, Youtube, Hot Rod Magazine (only magazine I read anymore), random cars on google images, experiences in my daily life (drag strip, on the street, friends cars, etc), and my own junk in the driveway. Plus I see a lot of cool stuff on here that gets my gears turning. I went on a hot rod buying spree towards the end of last year because of all the period correct vintage builds here...
  15. that is so freaking cool!!
  16. I like it. But I'm lazy too... so it depends on the mood I'm in. I first used it on my 74 Barracuda a few months and had no issues. The only problem which wasnt a huge deal was the xacto blade not always following where I wanted to go. But I tried to be as careful as I could and it turned out great. I'm not intimidated by it.
  17. Yep. Says Ford Motor Company..... but in unreadable scale. Nobody seems to have any of these wheels to get rid of.... I wanna build an Eleanor eventually. Need 3 more lol
  18. For some reason, in that first picture... that Bear looks like its popping out of the picture. Strange.
  19. That is good lookin!!! Definitely ready to embarrass some late model cars on the street!
  20. Thanks! I'm really surprised how well the hood filling has gone so far. I've done it in the past with terrible results too....
  21. I very, very rarely buy two of any model before building the first one.... but this one... I will probably have to have 5 or 6 of them easily. I bought 6 of the old monogram 30 Model A 5 windows off ebay so far... Never even built one yet... I just love 30-31 Model A's. Now.... If Revell released an updated/new tooled 30-31 5 window........... whoooooo boy.. I'd go in debt. I can already see myself getting about 3 or 4 of these kits mixed up on the bench while kit bashing and customizing. Looks like I'll be making some 30-31 Model A chopped 5 window hot rods sooner than I thought.
  22. I am soo doing this one now... Good excuse for what will be left of my thunderbolt after I use the chassis!
  23. Looks like the Fairlane Thunderbolt Roof. Wrong for the year, but looks fantastic on there. The rear tail panel would need some work to look right as well... but I'm digging it so far!
  24. That color works perfectly with the build idea!
  25. Got home late last night and only spent about a half hour on it. Got brave and decided to just go ahead and chop the fender flare off. With a little fitting and visual inspection I trimmed the fender and the flare that I cut off, and added a few bends in the plastic flare to make it flow w/ the fender better. Turning out ok I think! I am looking at buying a body to cut the backs of the front fenders off and use them for the front of the back quarter panels... instead of hacking and reusing parts. We'll see how that pans out.
