Such a clean build! Wow!

Really nice work! Meticulous detailing brought out the best in this promo and gave me flashbacks to one of the goofier Bond films!

Great work on that interior. Thanks for the info on this kit, too. -
1961 Starliner Mild Custom. Update, 8/8 Finished!!
John Goschke replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It's details like that that'll give this build special meaning! What are those bezels from, Steve? Of course now you'll have to add the missing parking lights to the Starliner's front bumper! Though you could modify the bumper from the Styline '61 Ford Club Vic... -
Not today, but recently acquired. One can never have too many "Squarebirds!" Two nice rebuildable '60s. The convertible has had its emblems and script cleanly removed. Love that these kits have a stick shift trans hooked to the 352! A really sad "basement find" '59 hardtop came from a friend in our model club. It'll be parted out and the roof will provide the basis for an up-top for the '60 convertible.

Nicely done! Excellent foil work on the '61 Buick side moldings – those are the toughest part of that kit.

Amazing work, Bill! Looks terrific. I like the restrained, stock appearance of the engine compartment and the tidy work on the wires and hoses. FWIW, that profile view showing the stance looks like a typical Mustang to me! It always seemed like they came from the factory with their noses high or their tails low, didn't they? Though a drop in the front for a slight forward rake would look a lot better.

Hey Tommy, the truck looks great! What about Tamiya light Pearl Green for the scallops? Or perhaps Tamiya Green Metallic (though that might be a bit too far to the yellow side of green.)

Great work saving that body and getting it straight and square. The finished product looks tremendous! Only quibble I might have is that the exhaust tips look out of scale in diameter.

Great job on a dog of a kit! Well done weathering, too.

Absolutely brilliant! Your pup is very tolerant!

I really like the colors you've chosen for your Galaxie. Foil work is also nicely done. Looking forward to seeing with the clear coats down.

AMT Deuce roadster. Tamiya Mica Blue over Silver Leaf. Flames are Tamiya Racing White, Bright Red, Orange, Yellow with One Shot Orange lettering enamel striping.

This is looking terrific! Nice work on the fender widening. The basic concept reminds me of this old build in my collection done by a kid in the early '60s...

Very clean build.

Really nice engine detail! The black plug wires are a nice change from the common bright yellow.

'59 Ford Sunliner Mild Custom! DONE 10/25/15!
John Goschke replied to John Goschke's topic in WIP: Model Cars
After considering a number of different color schemes for this model, I was finally inspired by a H.A.M.B. thread about a 1/1 '40 Ford hot rod build that was to be painted in pale blue. I'm not sure why a '40 Ford coupe would cause a brainstorm realization about what color to paint a '59 Ford custom, but there you have it. The mind works in strange ways. Anyway, a number of other projects were set aside so I could once again focus on this one. Here's a mock-up of where it's at so far. The pale blue is Tamiya Pure White with a bit of their French Blue mixed in. The upper body is Tamiya Pure White. This is similar to a stock '59 Ford scheme of Colonial White and Wedgewood Blue, though my blue is a bit brighter. The interior is in the stock color combo, done in Tamiya Light Blue Pearl, Blue Pearl, and White Surface Primer. Carpeting will be a very dark blue. I started foiling the dash, but that will need to be redone after I add a radio between the heater controls and the clock. I wouldn't bother except that I made the aerial and the fender is already drilled to receive it. More foiling and detail paint obviously needs to be done. The exterior panels will be outlined in silver in Larry Watson style, similar to his '59 Caddy or the Terry Holloway '57 Plymouth. When finished this model should be a great stablemate for the '59 T-bird, shown in my avatar, I finished a couple years ago. -
Excellent work, Dr. LaFong! Hope to see it at the meeting tomorrow!

Beautiful build of a great old kit!

AMT '59 Ford: What the...?!
John Goschke replied to John Goschke's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In addition to the "radio-delete" '60 Chrysler Windsor sedan, I also had a base-model '79 Malibu two-door without a radio. V-6, factory floor-shift three-speed manual trans, power steering, power brakes, heat, no AC. Neat little car. I'll fix the '59 Ford. Just kinda frustrating to take a step back after such a long time. Also a bit of a face-palm moment realizing I didn't notice it till last night! -
AMT '59 Ford: What the...?!
John Goschke replied to John Goschke's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very true that radios were optional back then, including on '59 Fords. I had a '60 Chrysler with no radio. I'd certainly leave it that way if it weren't a ragtop and if I hadn't already drilled the fender for the aerial. Don't want to be doing bodywork now that the two-tone is painted! -
