Ive heard that before but the funny car body barely resembles the street coupe body and does not share any other parts that I can see. I have built both the original 69 and 70 kits as convertibles.
-
Gerry Chevalier has a resin body of a 69 coupe. Send him a PM. The Revell 69/70 coupe/convertible kits have not been made since the early 1970s so I would not hold your breath on the ever being reissued.

Ever go on a Road Trip in a Classic Car?
vamach1 replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
From Northern VA I drove the 72 Mach1 to Lime Rock, Watkins Glen, Nashville Atlanta, Charlotte, Carlisle , Clinton NJ, and Dearborn, all on separate trips. The 72 Sprint I drove to Birmingham, Nashville, Carlisle, Detroit, Norfolk, and Youngstown also on separate trips. From Miami I drove the Mach1 to Sebring. Plans are to drive the 72 sprint to La Jolla which will be a breeze as it’s only about a two hour drive. Perhaps a trip to some of Route 66 that I’ve not been on in parts of California is next on the bucket list. -
One thing that I quickly realized is most events I enjoy take place on the weekends. The great thing about retiring is being able to get things done during the week that would be done week nights or the weekend. Midday traffic is better than the weekends when people are cramming in two days of activities for the week. My wife has about two years left to work so I manage to stay busy and try to be healthy and active. I am surprised of the lack of model car clubs in Southern CA where we are for two year before we move to Scottsdale. The number of year round car shows makes up for that and I have been to one IPMS show. I retired at 62 and was in South Florida for three years and I took advantage of all the car events and model car shows and was in a great club - Model Car Creations - that met twice a month. The club motivated me to always be working on a project and finish some builds I started many years ago and building some brand new ones. I am enjoying every minute of retirement and have zero regrets.

I’m still waiting for a SAE issue. ? Oh wait - they stopped publishing it years ago but they did keep to a consistent schedule until subscribers were told here is a FSM magazine with very little automotive content as if that was going to be comparable. -
Great job on the Mach1 and all the other Mustangs.

Very nice. The Trumpeter GT40 kits isn’t the best but the prices have dropped a lot since the knock off Magnifer ones flooded the market.

Very nice haul Gary. Are the Corvetes better than the plastic kits or Accurate Miniatures one.

When I built the Revell of Germany version I believe it had the hubcap black ring decals. However the price of the kit was double it was in the US and the only difference is the decal sheet and the paints included.

Very nicely done. I see you added the “ram air” plenum which I wish had been included in the Boss 351 so it would be an option for his kit. From extensive research done the main car used in the movie that Sean Connery drove was a 429 automatic without the ram air option. Since the kit has the Ram Air only air cleaner you did a nice job replicating the under hood piece with the vacuum motors that open and close the flaps in the hood scoops. I hope Revell will do an Eleanor version so there will be the standard hood so it will be easy to make a sprint sportsroof version with decals from Rays Kits or Keith Marks.

THey look like they were optional for a Lamborghini but never came stock on a Pantera. You see a lot of other Lambo parts on them like huge rear “wings.”

AMT Mustang II Hell Drivers Thrill show car
vamach1 replied to gasman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not sure yet but a clean up would probably be a start. -
I fell on the side of only building the Revell ones from now on. All the issues pointed out of the AMT and MPC kits over the years were not fixed and I have spent too much extra $$ finding better engines, engine compartments, rear ends, decals, etc. for the AMT/MPC variations before the two Revell kits were released.

AMT Mustang II Hell Drivers Thrill show car

Forgot to mention I paid $10 for both cars. -
Sounds like a great show. I went last year but am on the opposite coast now so it was not in the cards. I have seen pictures on Facebook and it appears there were 900+ models. I’m surprised the early bird was for putting models on the table and not just to have first crack at the vendors. At most NNLs the models being displayed are allowed inside after the first hour or so of the vending area being opened up. I guess with everything in the same room that was not possible.

Sometimes you find buildups where you least expect it. I got these Mustang II’s from a garage sale held at Barris Kustoms in Ventura CA yesterday. There were not a huge amount of models (some new and sealed or opened) but I also picked up some posters and postcards. I gave them a bath and took a few more pictures. -
They Shelby Collectibles were priced pretty low compared to other brands like Exoto which were 4-5 times more. I remember buying a MKII from ToyrsRUs and took it back because at first I did not notice the steering wheel was one the left side so they must have patterned it after a Superformance replica. They ended up correcting the later versions. The Exoto ones of course are very nice but are expensive and out of production.

Super nice work on the two Shelbys. One of my favorite colors for that year.
