  1. One thing I notice on a lot of model builds of the 68GT500 is that they way the grill and bumper are molded as one piece many builders forget the inside of the “grille” part of the AMT kit should be body color.. I over looked this detail on the first two or three builds I did.
  2. I have some catching up to do with Gary I only have sixteen MKI, MKII and MkIVs built.
  3. Interesting that Revell described the engine as a 351 Cleveland. 🙃
  4. Building one was enough for me.
  5. Chevaliergerry@gmail.com. He mentioned he only takes PayPal. He lives in Canada For the convertible body I have not seen the HRM ones in years. Brad is usually busy with all the kits he makes of the FIA Cobras and Daytons coupes etc.
  6. Gerry Chevalier makes the CS body for the AMT fastback/Shelby.
  7. I have built the 68 Shelby convertible transkit that Historic Racing Minatures made that used the chassis parts from the newer AMT 67 GT350 kit. The big block engine should fit okay.
  8. That is quite an accomplishment. I’m retired and cannot seem to finish 3-4 a year.
  9. I hope so. 😇 Funny thing is if I had a Aussie Falcon Cobra that raced at Bathurst the racing enthusiasts would be drooling all over it. I like showing my car that many car relate to as just about everyone has or knows someone that owned a 65-73 Mustang. When someone asks questions about my car they realize it was not just an old car I bought 42 years ago but that it has hundreds of miles of track time from Connecticut down to Homestead Florida and just about every road course in between on the east coast.
  10. He was pretty busy all day. 😔 It was the Key Biscayne show that they barely advertise and I had to dig deep to find the date and then the website to display my car. Last year the show was in October and this year it was supposed to be two days but they only salvaged one day of good weather.
  11. I saw this on Sunday. 😮 Very nice build Chris. Emerson would love your model.
  12. Andrew, Did you go to the Key Biscayne show on Sunday. There was some cool stuff there. Somehow they let me sneak the Mach1 in next to a Lambo. While waiting to be parked I was behind a BMW M1.
  13. Gold or white. I had to double up the decals when I used them on a darker color.
  14. Looking good. Are you going to substitute another carb for the kit one? There are a lot of great 3D printed ones available.
  15. Perhaps I was thinking of some of the Drag race versions of the kit. Also I think the MPC 83 GT kit has a v8 that looks larger than a 302 but not like a big block Ford. I think my point is that the models kits of the 60s and 70s would lag behind the real cars so that is how you end up with a Boss 429 in a 73 Mustang or Cougar kit despite Ford dropping the engine after 1970.
  16. It’s a shame the same incorrect engines (for a stock build) have been carried over to every reissue in just about every FOMOCO AMT and MPC kit since the 1970s. Only by looking at a few years later (Mustang II kits) might you find something that resembles a 351 engine which of course was never Installed in a real 74 and later Mustang.
  17. To clarify are you looking for the AMT 1:25 coupe dash or the Monigram 66 Shelby 1:24 GT350 dash.
  18. Very realistic build. I love the windshield “clean” portion.
  19. I was not sure when this kit may be available is the US market so I ordered two from the UK and they arrived in about two weeks. I have started on the build By gluing the engine together and hope to not take as long as I did to finish the Boss 351. As you can tell it shares many of the same parts with the 351 kit with the main differences being the engine, front bumper, rear panel, and wheels and tires. It should be noted that the movie car had C code 429, with a C6 automatic which can be sourced by aftermarket resin casters. Other things to note is the “hero” car did not have the deluxe steering wheel and had the standard two spoke wheel instead, and it was a non ram air car so the air cleaner would look different. Revell did go through the trouble of making a new hood (without the twist locks) but alas the engraving for the ram air plenum on the underside is still there. The hook locks brackets on the radiator support should be removed since those are part of the ram air option. So to build a J code 429 Mach1 with a hurst four speed and ram air all you would need to do is swap hoods with the Boss 351 kit, paint the black or silver on the hood, and use the side stripes from the Boss 351 kit and source some 429 RAM AIR decals for the hood from Rays kits.
  20. I have several builds from the mid to late 1980s. Here are a few of them.
  21. Is there a date for the 2024 show? My bad. I see it is on April 13th. https://desertscaleclassic.org/dsc20-rules
