1/12 Ford GT40 (remodelled)
vamach1 replied to kpnuts's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Thanks for the clarification. That kit has been out for a while now that I think about it. -
There is a post on this forum of Mr. obsessive and he describes all the good aspects of this kit and what he improved or corrected along the way. One thing for sure it is a heavy model when completed.

Thanks. I have heard from several people how crazy Miami is and that the traffic is horrible. I guess you can say that is true about the DC area as I have seen the population in that area double in 20 years. So for now it’s cool and since I do NOT have to commute every day I can chill and enjoy the view of all the traffic and the cruise ships coming and going. Lastly, I pity the fool that makes fun of this A-Team van. ?

I assume a diecast but how did it end up stored without being in a box or at least a bag to keep it the dust out? -
Replicas And Miniatures of Maryland
vamach1 replied to Reegs's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
There is a fans of R&M Co of MD facebook page. You can view the latest catalog there but Norman does not have a website and I think all he takes are checks and credit cards for orders via email or snail mail. Please note the Facebook page is a resource for hobbyists and Norman is not associated with the page. -
72 BUD MOORE/DONNIE ALLISON TORINO

Thanks for the answers. -
I found another movie that “starred” a Mach1. I have not seen the movie but that is an interesting “ad” on the roof. Someone beat me to it and built a nice replica complete with the driver.

Ver nice. What kit(s) did you use? Is that an engine from a later year stock car with a Roush engine? -
JPS Mustang old build

It has held up well. Nice job. I’ve got all of the kit versions of the Mustang but they have yet to be started. -
1989 Ford Mustang GT ‘Vert in Light Gray (Smoke) 1/24 Monogram

Great details (no pun intended) on how you painted the headlight covers and taillights. Anytime it is necessary to have to paint a clear red part a light body color it’s a challenge. -

Super nice factory stock build. Thanks for the info on the previous issues shortcomings. Yours turned out great. -
I built this many years ago and I remember I would have not used the front TRX tires the next time as they are very narrow. The wheels are “fixed” on mine but they must just be tight but I seem to remember they did press on. Perhaps other have built the kit more recently that will chime in.

That was a 1970 which was strictly a snap kit. The body looks better than those in larger scales though.
-
Someone else may have them. All my kits are in storage after the move here and it will be a while until I figure out where to store them. Perhaps one of these has origins back to being also used for slot cars which could explain the width difference.

That’s a bummer. I moved from VA to FL two weeks ago and my issue was forwarded and I got it last week.

Very nice representation of the box art version.

What engines are in the new 007 Mustang?
vamach1 replied to Oldmopars's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If that were only true. It has a 302 and a 428 which are carried over from 69-70 kits. AMT and MPC rushed the kits to market and could care less if the correct engines and exhaust system were included. I did an extensive review of this kit about a year ago on this site. -
After living in Virginia since 1969 and my wife since the early 19800’s she took advantage of a work opportunity and we moved here just this week. Going from a four bedroom house in the DC suburbs to a two level condo on the 15th floor of a high rise overlooking Biscayne bay is quite a change. Needless to say there’s a lot of adjustment mentally and getting used to very different surroundings. I retired last December so I won’t miss the cold weather and will miss the space I had for all my kits (most of which are in storage at the moment) but we will look for a place with more room in a few years after the housing prices go back down.

Super nice (real one and the model).

Well done. I still have a half finished one sitting in the box. Hopefully yours will inspire me to finish it.
