Happy Ford/Mercury day! 4/29 ( for Snake)
vamach1 replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, and to qualify the Boss 429 engine for racing use Ford put them in the Mustang despite having the 428 engines that made better for everyday use. If a customer wanted a/c or an automatic the Boss 429 was not going home with them. -
Design Pitch: MPC Retro "Forever 80s" collection
vamach1 replied to Stef's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Was the Dodge truck ever done from Lone Wolf McCade. Asking for Chuck and he does not take no for answer. ? -
Very cool retro look. There were many Shelby’s drag raced in the 60’s by lesser known names.

The bad guys would have a hard time outrunning the Sheriff with the Boss 429 in this Galaxie.

Very nice build, Are those the kit decals or Indycals? I started on one of these and of course had to fill in the rear deck scoop openings that Revell did not bother to point out were not on the Daytona Mark IIs. I cannot remember if Fujumi later fixed that and the location of the fuel filler cap (left side) and included a wider radiator outlet splitter.

Very nicely done with the casting from Gerry C.

I ordered two.

Nicely done on some hard to find kits,

Looking good. Very nicely done.

Also most of the kit part should be painted body color except the thin chrome edge and actual screen area.
-
Probably not except in maybe a diecast/pre-painted category.
-
Not bad at all considering the time it will save and how nice the paint looks.

Here is one from a SAAC letter so indirectly I paid for it. Kopec made a living off of promoting Chelsey and his cars. Most fo the signatures on car parts are written with a silver sharpie. Lots of images on the web.

Looks very nice Ray. I have to ask is it about double the price of the unpainted one, ie. is it around $600. I have not seen a range of prices yet.
-
I have some but not all of them. The 83 convertible seems to be one of the more sought after ones.

Yes the Cobra is a huge disappointment if you are expecting it to represent an original 427. The is a hilarious review (at least I thought so) of this kit in a MAMA monthly newsletter written by Rich Wilson. I’ll see if I can find the issue.

Very cool. Maybe Chewbacca needs to adjust the hyperdrive so it does not run so rich. ? -
Some my older builds of two Fujumi MKII’s, a Mini Exotics and THunder Valley with Fujumi chassis, and the Aurora/Revell MKI and a IMC MKII. The Thunder Valley transkit kit was long before any other transkits or engines from HRM.

Thanks. I have not heard back from Mr. YABUKI yet.
