  1. The Blue Crescent kit despite the box art top that depicts a Drag racing version it’s too bad that one was not reissued as it would be far easier to build it as a factory stock or Prostock racer from that kit. The collector prices for that version as pretty high.
  2. Welcome. I used to live in Northern VA and go to the Maryland Automotive Modelers Association meeting every month on the third Saturday. Check out www.mamasboyz.org for their meeting location. The website has all the newsletters published since the late 1980s. ?
  3. This kit had me puzzled the more I look at the funny car bodies of that era. There are plenty of pictures of 69 Mustang funny cars but it seems like not very many 70 ones as there was probably not much incentive to switch to a slightly different body. Slixx has decals for a Frantic Ford funny car but like the funny cars of the era that had fiberglass bodies that were altered to fit the Logghe chassis. So to try to build this kit as a funny car seems out of the question without an appropriate body. I’ll put the kit aside and use the stock body with the Revell Boss 302 chassis and interior to make a factory stock Mach1. The engraving of the lower panel with the Mach1 lettering is very nice. There is a pair of Shelby ten spoke deep dish wheels in the kit for the front wheels which in interesting and four chrome inner wheels. Bottom line is I guess AMT was adapting to the popularity of funny cars in the late 60s and early 70s and figured what kid is going to question why they used a completely stock 70 Mach1 body with a funny car chassis and simply added an aerodynamic front end to make it appear like a funny car of that era. As others had mentioned it would have been nice to see all of the parts included to build a stock 70 Mach1 but I guess nostalgia won over this time.
  4. Nice score on the UPC kit. It looks similar to the LS kit but I can see the difference in the front. By the way have you built one of the Lemans Miniatures MKI resin kits? I have one in my stash in storage.
  5. Our third group member Danny is making great progress. Ed did the excellent gloss black paint as seen in the 2nd update above. Danny scratch built the oil lines from the oil filter to the engine block. I should be posting more updates in 2 weeks after our next Model Creations meeting.
  6. Nice job Michelle. Several years I decided the best thing to do with a Palmer/Testors Mustang kit was to do a Road Warrior version. I did not make it RHD but that would have not been too difficult.
  7. And you probably never will again. ?. I guess someone thought just an opening for an air intake was boring so why not use a 70s funny car one. The blower looks a little offset to one side which is even more confusing but looking again I think it is the angle of the photo.
  8. Check out www.micromacromundo.com They have a large store in Miami and retail hours and carry a lot of kits and paints. The new location is a little tricky to find but it is worth checking out and you can see their inventory inline.
  9. Beautiful build. That was a very rare color for the Boss 351.
  10. Picked up a nice trophy today at a show in Fort Lauderdale. There was a nice variety of cool cars including various years of VWs. Probably one more show before I have the car shipped to Arizona to the house. Three years of apartment and condo living in Mimi has been enough for me.
  11. That’s a bummer and yes I know thus thread is nine years old. I guess some of theses kits have Ben reissued but I’m not sure if any changes have been made. I guess I’ll have to read some of the current reviews.
  12. I was seventeen and probably too shy. I did meet Jungle Pam about 20 years ago but don’t remember getting hers either. I do remember if you brought a model for the MPC contest you would get in free so that was probably my primary motivation.
  13. Vey nice build.
  14. I was at the DC Armory show and MPC contest in 1976. Sorry I only have these two pictures from slides but somewhere I have more pictures of the show cars.
  15. The group is moving along and here are some parts one of the club members is working on. Our next meeting is Tuesday so I hope to have some more photos of the progress on the interior.
  16. I found these online (Facebook) on a posting from 2017 of old pictures taken by the original owner of my 72 Mach1. He was with the US State Department and was overseas in the 1960s and 1970s and had the car shipped to Europe in late 1971 (build date Aug 71) and brought the car back to the US in 1981. I saw an ad for it for sale in 1981 and I bought the Mach1 for a grand total of $1650. I still have the car and over the years I added the wheels, stripes, spoilers and have driven it over 115,000 miles in the last 42 years. The Hotwheels picture was taken on May 11th, 2024.
  17. To my surprise I found a vendor at at model show selling basically same kit I used for the purple Pantera and there were two slightly different ones in the box. Better than that I got them both for $20.
  18. This award is from a show yesterday that had 13 entires in the class and my little Cobra was chosen by the entrants as the best in class.
  19. Picked up an award yesterday in Largo yesterday.
  20. Yes you and Andy aka ABSMiami rode with me on the Homestead road course.
  21. Any predictions on the final did? It is up to $7K now. Someone will buy them and probably list them individually on Ebay by the weekend.
  22. What I drove at the Mustang 60th celebration on the Barber Motorsports track last month.
  23. Not sure who nickynicky is but I tend to agree with the comment. I guess I am the exception with regard to this collection as I only see one resin kit I would want even though I already have one. Whoever wins the lot is probably going to sell most of them on line. The days of asking full collector prices for kits and promos that are 60 plus year old are nearing the end IMHO.
