  1. Doh. I was assuming it was the engine from the kit and did not zoom in. I have seen someone put the Boss 9 in a real Torino street machine and it looks like it belongs there more than Ford nd Kar Kraft jamming it into the Mustang. I guess the stock looking non-ram air blue air cleaner fooled me unless you made the scoop functional like the Mustangs.
  2. Thanks Gramps. As long as my kids share my interest in cars I will enjoy these moments that I missed with my father that passed way when I was sixteen. He was not a car nut but my older bother talked my mother into getting the family 67 Camaro (which was white) painted a metallic dark blue. Sadly I do have any pictures of it and my mother sold it and got herself a 280Z. I guess our family car genes really do run on both sides.
  3. Interesting. I built the CMA 66 Sebring X-1 winner and have the DDP roadster on order. I also have the roadster X-1 conversion kit from Indycals.
  4. I had not heard the R2 rumor but typically any of the AMT or MPC 71-73 molds end up having a 73 bumper and maybe a 72 grille (like in the MPC "Boss" 351 kit). Of course the movie car had a 429 CJ engine which would not be the kit either. You may expect Diamonds but we will get Cubic Zirconia. ?
  5. Rich, I do have the red 427 and the 65 GT350 from that series. There was a red GT40 MKII that was basically an Exoto 1/18 but sold under another brand perhaps that was Danbury or somebody else. I would have to dig through the old brochures. Are the resin conversions to do a 67 Daytona version or the Mark II's w/o the rear scoops? Asking for a friend. ?
  6. ??. Very nice work on one version not seen built (the Ford of France) too often. I think you are right about building these together. Every time I build the Tamiya or Revell ones I forget the quirks of these kits. The 1/20 diecast is one not in my collection but I see them on Ebay sometimes. The color seemed off to me but for the $$$ it looks nice - just an odd scale. Keep up the good work and keep those GT40's coming.
  7. Nice score Ray. A friend in Japan sent me this odd kit in the 1990s. Yes the scale is weird but the body is more acurate than the AMT or MPC kits. The chassis is typical toylike. I built this maybe 20 years ago and I need to touch up the decals that have flaked off due to age and handling. I may add some 351 ram air decals while I am at it. P.S. You do not have to paint yours yellow. ?
  8. This situation is getting absurd. Target and Walmart happen to sell groceries and just about everything else so you can shop there and not buy food and just get clothes. But Kohls sells clothes and not food so they are out of luck. I would almost best the large chain stores will add a food aisle so they can remain open next time. I went to the new Hobby Lobby that opened in the old ToysRus and as you said the selection is very good compared to Michaels. I cant wait until this mess is over.
  9. Nice to see some more muscle Blue Oval cars. The Torino kits have the best 429 engine (non Boss version) I have seen. I also like when both side mirrors are included in a kit. Many of the old AMT kits just do not have them. Great job wit these John.
  10. Turner Performance My daughter created this new channel. Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching.
  11. Snake45 those Mustangs looks to be in pretty good shape. I have picked up some gluebombs along the way of original 65-66 fastbacks but my goal was to strip and rebuild them in a fatory color. Good luck with yours and hit me up if you are missing a critical part I can look to see if my have extras. My project for today and tomorrow is to inventory all my older kits to document what I have because sometimes what I store in the model box has nothing to do with what came in it. Keep us updated.
  12. Welcome to the forum. Great modelers and information at your fingertips.
  13. Yes they would. A shame there wasn't a kit of this or the Mach2 concept but I guess they may not have sold very well in th 60's. At least Ray has a very good starting point. A coupe or fastback converted into a convertible in plastic has to be a lot easier than starting with a metal body no doubt but even that has not stopped some determined builders. You got this Ray. Now where did I put that MPC fastback Mustang that I converted to a 1969 Shelby DeMexico coupe? ?
  14. It's an addiction. I built about 20 different brand kits and the rest of these are diecast or resin from around the world.
  15. Nothing aftermarket for the panels that I have seen. However, the Fujumi it a good source for parts since it is not a real Cobra insofar as it was supposed to based on a Shelby continuation/tribute car and so they should be similar to a real one versus the many kit cars available to buy or build. One of the funniest reviews I read was of the Fujumi kit by a MAMA member in our monthly newsletter. Let's just say Fujumi did not send him any kits in appreciation for his glowing review. I found one I printed out so now I can point everyone to the December 2004 Mama Sez newsletter If you want to check it out. While there a hundreds of diecast Cobra models out there (presumably with legit licensing from SA) wouldn't it be nice to have a nice 289 kit in 1/24 and a 427 in 1/25?
  16. I guess you guys were hiding in the basement. ? All my diecast and either in display cases in the "study" or in our walk in closet in those 24/48 car cases (with the blue or yellow baskets). There are not may diecast I buy specifallly thinking I am going to repaint or detail but I can only imagine if I ran out of thing to build I to build I could always take out the 1,000 or so 1/64 $1 cars and paint the headlight and taillights on them which almost never have them painted on China or Thailand. What do you expect for $1 - SnakeFu? ?
  17. Very nice indeed Tim. Like me I assume you like 1/43 for many reasons including they take up less space, take less time to build, there are a lot of variations you can make just with different decals, and cost less to ship. The downside is of course cost and for Americans it is just not nearly as popular a scale as it is in many other countries with model car enthusiasts. I find most kits on Ebay or shows as most dealers at shows (if there are any selling any 1/43) sell Spark and other "factory made" brands that are resin versus diecast. Marsh Models of England is still around and they are great to deal with as they sell kits and factory built models using the same kits they sell.
  18. Great paint and sorrry to ear about the building issues. I built one of these a long time ago but cannot remember having major problems but I sure others will benefit from your experiences. Keep those Mustangs coming.
  19. You know you have done well when it looks like the real thing. Excellent work and beautiful paint.
  20. It opens and closes similar to the IMC kits with a metal pin. Here are the instructions.
  21. This GT40 came in the mail yesterday from France. Was on my list of I do not have one so in order to keep the world economy going I figured I would do what I can. As for spending money locally, I have already spent over $2,000 on some things I have put off or néeded to get fixed on the full size cars. ? Never thought I would see the day people wearing masks while driving. I am taking it to the next level. ?
  22. Let me be the first one to say well done on both before and after versions. When I see one of these kits built the first thing I notice is whether the inside area of the chome piece of the model that is all chrome should be painted body color and only the actual grille area should be flat black with the very outer edge of the part left as chrome. You nailed it. The wheels look good - the kit ones are fair but there are other kits with nicer ten spokes. The exhaust tips always bother me on this kit but given that the original mold is over 50 years old there has not been any attempt to change anything as I guess as long as Round2 keeps selling them I highly doubt we will see an all new version like AMT did with the 67 GT350. It also makes we wonder why AMT did not make a 67 GT500 also which would not have been that difficult. Once again, nicely done. Any plans to do a convertible version?
  23. I guess I missed this post as I knew what it was immediately. It's one of two concepts I wish there was a 1/24 model made. There is the Milano and this Mach2 in 1/43 diecast for about $100 and most of us know IMC/Lindberg did the Mustang II concept in 1/25 and AMT did the 68 Mach1 concept kit also which is a holy grail kit for many Mustang builders/collectors. I would like to see the Mach1 done in 1/43 to round out my collection in that scale. If you would like to see pictures of any or all of these I mentioned please comment.
  24. Looking good so far. That is a lot of boxes for sure but t least the finished model will take up less room than that. ? You know I am a huge Mustang and GT40 fan but my unbuilt "collection" is not getting any smaller so I have not taken the plunge to buy either one. Yet. ?
