  1. One of your best yet
  2. One of the first car kits I ever got was a 1969 Olds 442. I used the wrong glue and it came out OK, but a few parts fell off in the engine area. I also used the wrong paint by accident for the interior and it screwed things up too. I knew I'd like to get another at some point and when I got my gift card as a bonus at work; I went ahead and pulled the trigger on purchasing a new kit. The old kit was red, and I wanted to find another color to show off the W30 package under the hood. I remembered that when my dad and I first moved into my step-mom's house they had a few junk cars around the yard. Her ex was a mechanic and her family are pretty much hoarders; so there was a lot of cool stuff in the woods. Around my dad's shed was a green car hood that I'm pretty sure was an Olds hood. I thought that color would make a good color for the model, so i custom mixed the paint to match what i remembered of the hood's paint. I like the new version of the kit. It's been improved a lot since 2005-2006. SAM_0115 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr SAM_0116 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr SAM_0117 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr
  3. I had the kit around 92-95 (?). As I remember it was a one piece deck back then. I may still have it stashed away in a box somewhere. I just remember being angry that my step-mom broke it.........along with most of my things. ?
  4. I got one of these kits when I got my car. I wasn't impressed with the quality. My kit didn't even have the decals for the stripes. You did a good job making it look right.
  5. Super Nice
  6. Just finished one I was gonna post today. But, now, that you've posted this, I'll wait a few days. Nice work
  7. Thanks for the tip on the sale.
  8. I just snagged one of the cheaper ones off eBay. They're worth it.
  9. Cool idea
  10. Well, being the Chevelle guy, I had to get it. This kit is awesome! I don't think I have any complaints about the kit. It came out amazing. I just wish the sun had been out for the pictures. They don't do the paint job justice. 11. What did I get for Christmas? -Broke! Gonna have to get each of the first four!
  12. Looks good. I didn't have that problem when I did mine. Lost a couple decals off of it over the years though.
  13. No, never tried foiling before.
  14. It would have been interesting. I want to say that the kit did have a removable hard top though. As for the fit issue, if you put the dash on the interior tub where it says, there will be a huge gap between it and the wind shield. I ended up gluing it in the right spot by the windshield and then placed the tub in (Which was hard because of the control box being part of the dash assembly. It runs dash to floor board.). You can't see it in the shot because of the perspective, but the doors have a gap between them and the wall, and the hand brake and other controls are pushed way forward. The rod for the rear tires is also a little to long, but it's barely noticeable. I really liked the kit though. It came out beautiful.
  15. I didn't either until I randomly came across it. There's an S600 kit out there too. I think it's the same kit, just different box art since everything is in the kit to make the different versions. There's a few on ebay and Megahobby sells them as well.
  16. thanks
  17. It is, picked it up a few months ago with my work bonus gift card

  19. Came across this on eBay and thought it looked cool. Paid a lot for it, but it's worth it. The kit says it's a 1:24th scale, but it's a 1:25th scale. There's also extra parts to make the S500 and 600 versions. The kit isn't too bad, but it has some flaws. Like a lot of models there's not much room for the windshield to be glued in. There's also a major fit issue with the dash. If you follow the directions, there's a huge gap between the dash and the windshield/firewall area. I could fit another dash and a half in that gap. I had to rework the model some to make it look right. I was also puzzled that the underside has the engine molded in and that the hood is molded on, but there's an option to cut the hood off and then have a partial build of the engine. Why not just have the hood off and build the whole engine to sit in there? Kinda weird, but it's nice for a foreign model to even have that option. I gotta go back and paint the emblems on the caps, but over all I think it came out great. 20. Been wanting one in the collection for awhile. The kit isn't bad. Still AMT puzzles me with their kits. You finally start to put side mirrors with the kit. Excellent. You also add decals that are more than lisence plates and race decals. Awesome! However, once placed on the model you can barely see the decal. Not cool. Also, you have headlight lenses for the custom kit, but not the stock version. WTF?! 21. Been wanting one of these for awhile. Not bad at all. You can build it a few ways. SAM_0083 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr SAM_0084 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr SAM_0085 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr SAM_0086 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr SAM_0087 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr SAM_0088 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr
