NOT RELATED TO THIS SELLER i saw a similar thing around christmas time. i dont remember the seller. it was on the gangbusters kit. they had the newly molded kit in an old box for a different car. one was a 2 door, and one was a 4 door. anyway, i emailed the seller and he said that i was right and he would adjust the auction. i kept an eye on it and he never changed the auction. about 4 or 5 days later i saw that it sold. i dont know what ever happened with it. i had it on my list of sellers to not buy from, but i dont know how to see that anymore -
i use toothpicks as well, but use it more like a dry brush effect. i try to use a waterbased paint for it though so i can wipe it off if i have a mistake

Here is my work with the tamiya and the microgloss liquid abrasive. I cant get 2 of the very small chips out. I sanded and sanded and i feel the divot still, so short of somehow filling it somehow, its going to stay like this. Other than the small chips they are clear. I gave it another coating of the microgloss and polish each one for really long time and then did final cleaning with new rag. I wish i took a before picture but i didn't. they were in horrible shape with scratches all over the front and back windows Its a little hard to tell but they look amazing. If it wasn't for the tiny chips i would be so happy with the results. I dont have any more hazing that i can see. They look great now

Issue with clear coat
youpey replied to plasticprime's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I haven't used the novus yet but the tamiya is really good. The tubes are very small though. I do have plans to try different ones because the tamiya is so expensive for how little you actually get -
Issue with clear coat

I kind of agree with the others regarding using tamiya clear over tamiya paint. I haven't had much luck with testors products, but never had an issue with tamiya. Their clear is very nice -
i kept going at it with the different compounds, and i also wetsanded the windshield again with the 2000, going in an opposite direction from last time. up/down instead of side by side. anyway, its not crystal clear yet, but its not foggy anymore. in fact, it looks clear unless i hold it up to the light. its way better than before. im going to get the novus and the wax to try to get it better. i cant get the chips out though. i would need to sand down too far. the rear window is much more scratched, but not deep scratches. that one definitely needs some work. thanks again to everyone

on the 1/16 corvette i got, the windows front and back were very chewed up looking, scratched and all and all not looking very good. in my brilliant head, i assumed if i sanded them and then used a compound to polish it out, it would be fine. i started the sanding with a 1500 tamiya sandpaper, then 2000, then the compound using 3 levels of compound, from tamiya fine, then tamiya finish, then microgloss liquid abrasive as the final. however, i was not able to get out the deep scratches, but now the glass is also a little foggy. i have tried many times to clean it up, but its not getting really clear. is there something i missed or will it always be a little foggy? unfortunately, i am not sure if it was every really crystal clear in the first place since i got it 2nd hand

I do have a hobby lobby about 20 or 30 minutes. its worth the drive though so i dont lose my motivation on finishing the corvette that im so close to finishing

i ordered blue colored embossing powder to use as carpet for my 65 corvette model from amazon. it was supposed to be delivered friday, then it got pushed to sunday. today (sunday), the order was cancelled because it is no longer in stock. i just dont understand how the prime 2 day shipping is still taking 5+ days i had to order it from a different seller, but that is saying it could take 2 weeks. i might just start a new kit until this arrives

i was going to buy it directly from fiat as a spray. they offer it. however, they required me to pay in person and pick up in person, and the closest fiat dealership is over 1 hour away. i assumed that this place would offer the same quality. at this point, i am not going to bother trying to buy the right color -

Here is the paint. And what it was supposed to look like. I understand it won't be exact but to me they are very different. I suppose it is possible i am not spraying it right but im doing it how i normally spray. Maybe I will try to do even a lighter coat -

If you like, i can take a picture of the paint on a spoon. I had done it on the card they give you and then link the color i was trying to get -
is the crown premium the darkest of the blue on the top row, next to the black? Which (non-red) ones are the most accurate to the real car would you say?

I just bought paint from automotive touchup and the color was very wrong. i had even called the dealership parts department to get the right color code. I ordered a blue that was almost like a sky blue and with 1 thin coat it looked almost navy blue. The paint is good quality but not what i wanted I didn't answer your question but more of me just complaining -
Im going to try to find the welly. It looks better to me than the franklin mint one. That one has huge door gaps

wow, this looks stunning. i finished with everything, except the primer and paint on the body. and the interior carpet, it was suppsed to arrive yesterday but amazon pushed it to sunday now.

i dont want to even pretend its easy or that i even understand how web code works, but it would be cool if you could have an optional paid version of the forums to eliminate ads for the paid members to make up for the lost revenue for those members not seeing the ads. i hit this site constantly, and depending on the cost, i would surely pay say, 12 or 15 dollars a year. (not sure how much the ads make as i have never clicked on any myself)
