  1. From what I can see Walmart models are shipped directly from a hobby kit supplier . A Challenger kit at Walmart was $22.05, same kit at HW was $24.80
  2. I think we are seeing the conversion to if not all at least a large percent, online shopping. I don't really like this kind of purchases and paying shipping costs but it looks like its in our near future. I noticed Walmart, Lowes and Home Depot and some of the other stores having a good selection of merchandise online but not stocked in the stores. I do look for free shipping to stores.
  3. They cleared them out at the Walmarts that I visit. You can buy them online and there is free shipping to store.
  4. Thanks for the info and link
  5. Is there any after market company that makes the 69 Dodge Daytona wing and nose. Need one for another future project. Thanks Jon

  7. moved Thanks Jon
  8. Any idea what AMT Daytona kits came with the R/T grill and when they started putting in the split 69 grille? I have a 1990 kit with the R/T. I was going to use the wing and nose from it for another project but those parts plus the body hood were missing. I must have used them for a slot car body or something. I have been looking on ebay for a kit or body and wing and nose. If I buy the kit I want the Daytona/500 body.
  9. The (in my opinion ,your results may vary) the Charger is not a Hot Rod but a Muscle Car and the 57 is almost to new to be called a Hot Rod (almost). I like all the rest. This one I really like. In fact I have it for my wallpaper
  10. Thanks I have been bouncing all over the interweb today. Glad I'm retired. I do learn a lot in the process .
  11. That is a cool link thanks but it did not help me out.It showed the Ala Kart in one picture but no where was the dragster mentioned. After a better look the one in the movie is not the same as the kit but I would still like to know more about it. I did notice that the pics for the Hot Rod the information was just a short mention on what they were and no mention of the builders. I have found out about a fewof the 32's and the T Bucket tho.
  12. In the AMT Double Dragster set what real Dragster was the Streamliner a copy of? On my model Facebook page we were discussing the Ala Kart. One of the Guys showed me a movie poster with the Ala Kart on it. The movie was Hot Rod Gang made in 1958. I found it on Netflicks and watched it. It showed the Ala Kart a couple times in a shop with some guy polishing it. It also showed a Streamliner in the corner and it looked just like the one in the kit. Any info on the real dragster would be helpful Thanks
  13. Love it. If it had the RS grille it would be almost a exact copy of my 1:1 SS/RS I once owned. Greta color choice
  14. Can't wait to see more
  15. One time that comes to mind was when I used to go fishing after work. I was always in a hurry to get there and there was lots a two lane curves.I was driving my 67 SS/RS Camaro and once picked up a couple young lads that were hitchhiking . My Camaro was great at corners and I really pushed it that day. Needless to say the Lads seemed to be a bit frazzled and requested to get out before they even got to their destination. On another occasion my Hunting Buddy and I were trying to get to our hunting camp after work on a Friday. We were in my 67 Comet cruising along and enjoying some Strawberry Hill. My buddy likes to stretch his legs out and had them stuffed well up under the dash. It was starting to get a bit chilly so I went to close the vent. and it seemed to be stuck on something so I kept trying to close it. In the meantime my Buddy was starting to panic as he thought my car was trying eat his foot. We still laugh about it to this day.

  17. Makes it a little tough when painting separate parts to get them the same color.
  18. There are folks that take Hot Wheels apart and repaint and make changes to them. Some even sell them on Ebay
  19. I think I just bought a "slump buster" found this at Walmart for $15. I know its kind of a beginners kit but I can be a quick build or I can try and change it up some. And its Plum Crazy Purple. To bad I will most likely paint it 64 Vette Flame Red and put some General Lee stuff on it.
  20. I like it. Nice color choice Did you have any problem lining up the inter cooler with the upper it duct and the rear duct. I build this motor for a 32 Deuce project and had a hard time getting them aligned out of the engine bay. Ended up to wide for the 32 so I saved it for another future build and went with a different intake setup.
  21. What says he was even going for a "look" ? Maybe he was just building it the way he wanted it. How many "nostalgic, "era specific" or 'old school" cars have radial tires ? Radials didn't really enter the American scene until the late 60's.
  22. Different than the 48 Woody, don't know about the others
  23. Would probably look better on the Challenger
