  1. Thanks I have been bouncing all over the interweb today. Glad I'm retired. I do learn a lot in the process .
  2. That is a cool link thanks but it did not help me out.It showed the Ala Kart in one picture but no where was the dragster mentioned. After a better look the one in the movie is not the same as the kit but I would still like to know more about it. I did notice that the pics for the Hot Rod the information was just a short mention on what they were and no mention of the builders. I have found out about a fewof the 32's and the T Bucket tho.
  3. In the AMT Double Dragster set what real Dragster was the Streamliner a copy of? On my model Facebook page we were discussing the Ala Kart. One of the Guys showed me a movie poster with the Ala Kart on it. The movie was Hot Rod Gang made in 1958. I found it on Netflicks and watched it. It showed the Ala Kart a couple times in a shop with some guy polishing it. It also showed a Streamliner in the corner and it looked just like the one in the kit. Any info on the real dragster would be helpful Thanks
  4. Love it. If it had the RS grille it would be almost a exact copy of my 1:1 SS/RS I once owned. Greta color choice
  5. Can't wait to see more
  6. One time that comes to mind was when I used to go fishing after work. I was always in a hurry to get there and there was lots a two lane curves.I was driving my 67 SS/RS Camaro and once picked up a couple young lads that were hitchhiking . My Camaro was great at corners and I really pushed it that day. Needless to say the Lads seemed to be a bit frazzled and requested to get out before they even got to their destination. On another occasion my Hunting Buddy and I were trying to get to our hunting camp after work on a Friday. We were in my 67 Comet cruising along and enjoying some Strawberry Hill. My buddy likes to stretch his legs out and had them stuffed well up under the dash. It was starting to get a bit chilly so I went to close the vent. and it seemed to be stuck on something so I kept trying to close it. In the meantime my Buddy was starting to panic as he thought my car was trying eat his foot. We still laugh about it to this day.
  7. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnhklToD9CFSJVsMuxWHjNA Lots of free how-to videos on youtube and info on their web site http://www.createxcolors.com/technicalhowto.html
  8. Makes it a little tough when painting separate parts to get them the same color.
  9. There are folks that take Hot Wheels apart and repaint and make changes to them. Some even sell them on Ebay
  10. I think I just bought a "slump buster" found this at Walmart for $15. I know its kind of a beginners kit but I can be a quick build or I can try and change it up some. And its Plum Crazy Purple. To bad I will most likely paint it 64 Vette Flame Red and put some General Lee stuff on it.
  11. I like it. Nice color choice Did you have any problem lining up the inter cooler with the upper it duct and the rear duct. I build this motor for a 32 Deuce project and had a hard time getting them aligned out of the engine bay. Ended up to wide for the 32 so I saved it for another future build and went with a different intake setup.
  12. What says he was even going for a "look" ? Maybe he was just building it the way he wanted it. How many "nostalgic, "era specific" or 'old school" cars have radial tires ? Radials didn't really enter the American scene until the late 60's.
  13. Different than the 48 Woody, don't know about the others
  14. Would probably look better on the Challenger
  15. Whats the best way to get Black Chrome finish on chrome parts ? Thanks
  16. I recall seeing in-out boxes on drag cars in the way back. It gives you a "neutral" essentially, so you don't have to sit there with a really heavy clutch depressed and the engine running. Another possible reason would be to provide a single gear ratio that's different from 1:1. 1:1 is all you'd get with a clutch alone. That makes sense . Learn something new here every day.
  17. Some of the Sprint cars classes the were required to start the engine on their own, no push starts. So they used clutch boxes and in and out boxes. To me it sounded kind of redundant but I they must have had their reasons . Why would they run a clutch and an in-out-box on a drag setup ? I thought it may be a reverser ?
  18. Looks like a safety housing to me Would also help keep the rear axle from rotating upwards
  19. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/shadowolf50/DirectDriveUnit.jpg Found this at Speed City Resins Called a Direct Drive Bell Housing . Appears to be just that, a clutch unit for direct drive with a drive line housing. Not the same function as an"in and out Box" . which just engages it into gear, no clutch.Push start it and go. Not sure how that would work in drag race setup.
  20. Here are a few https://www.google.com/search?q=custom+58+chevy&biw=1304&bih=707&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMIv_mss4OYxwIVQ5SICh15hQks https://www.google.com/search?q=custom+58+chevy&biw=1304&bih=707&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMIv_mss4OYxwIVQ5SICh15hQks#tbm=isch&q=custom+59+cadillac
  21. That would be easier but at $42.75 plus shipping puts it out of my price range. Would rather do it myself and work on my building skills
  22. This I know but which kit is better ?
  23. Jon, did you thin it with Future? No at that time I thinned it with water. I will try thinning with future on my current build. It will be Pearlized Black base with Gunmetal flake over that. Using a black primer.
  24. What primer did you use? I dry my createx/Autoair with a hair dryer between coats and after the final coat. Then wait 24 hrs more before clearing. Never had a lifting problem only that it takes so much Future to smooth out being that Createx/Autoair dries rough. I had to put on so much future that it looked bloby Used Duplicolor clear and it worked great
  25. Does the Lindberg have a metal body ?
