That looks to me like the type of paint that should strip easily. Looks nice except for the broken windshield post. I have a pretty nice example of the '60 hardtop to build someday, but after building the convertible a while back, I'm kind of '60 Merc'd out! Nice score Christian! Steve

I have a couple of them, but I've never built one. Started them a couple of times but could never get past that multi piece body. Steve

I agree with most all of that. Color can be a big deal with making a build look nice. I can't tell you how many times I've seen very well executed builds ruined by some oddball paint scheme. Strange combinations can many times make a model look like.......well, a model. Our main job as builders is to make our builds look as close to the real thing as possible. Steve

That's what I was thinking! I Have psoriasis & use an injectable medication called "Enbrel" which is a twice weekly injection. I have more syringes laying around the house than you could shake a stick at! But before any of you get any ideas, my syringes come pre-loaded & it probably wouldn't be a great idea to start shipping dirty needles all over the country! On a more useful note, I just picked up a 3 foot long piece of stainless steel 21 gauge hypodermic tubing on Amazon for a little over $8.00. My plan was to use it for antenna bases but I think it might be just a hair too large. Amazon has all different sizes of hypodermic tubing. The trick is getting the size you want. I'm not real good with gauges & math makes my head hurt! Steve

If you do the foil correctly, you'll barely be able to tell the difference. Not only does the front trim piece need foiling, but all the window trim. The Revell '58 Impala is the same way. All of the body trim is plated, but the window trim, & in this example, all of the trim on the skirts, require foil. It's really not a problem. Steve

Thanks Bill, but my guess is you're talking about an old annual? I was just making the point with Frank that the Trumpeter hardtop kit was so bad, yet the convertible looks good, & if I were to build the Trumpeter kit, A body swap would probably be in order. I have an annual '60 Bonneville hardtop that I hope to build in the future. I wouldn't want to deprive you of one of your beloved convertibles for no reason. Steve

All I would really need to find is the appropriate convertible parts, ie. the body, top boot, etc. I have an original annual to build a hardtop with. I need to do that soon. The '60 Bonneville has been one of my favorite cars since the first time I saw one when I was just a kid. The bright red on yours really makes it stand out! Surprisingly, bright red was not an available color in the '60 Pontiac lineup. Unfortunate, as it sure looks great in that color. I've labored over a color choice for mine when I build it. I really don't care for many of the '60 Pontiac colors.......maybe copper would look nice. Steve

Looks great Frank! Just a warning to anyone who may be tempted to buy the hardtop version of this kit.......Don't waste your money! That's where most of the criticism of this kit comes from. The proportions of the roof are way out of wack! From the looks of yours Frank, I really wish I would have bought the convertible years ago when I bought my hardtop. Nice work! Steve

Thanks guys! Ludwig, I have a lot of options for 2016, but most likely I will try to get some kits that I've had sitting in the que patiently waiting their turn. First off of course will be the '65 Monaco I'm building now, & if last year was any indication, that leaves possibly 6 more. These are the ones I'm planning on. 1966 Chrysler 300 1967 Ford Galaxie 1967 Pontiac Bonneville 1967 Plymouth Fury 1961 Jimmy Flintstone resin Oldsmobile 88 I'm not sure about the last one. Maybe a '60 Bonneville, '59 Oldsmobile, or a '59-'60 Lincoln. Steve
