That cover is a modified hood scope from a 58 Chevy kit.

Thank you for the interest and comments on the model. One thing I didn’t mention in the beginning is, this was an old glue bomb I picked up somewhere. That’s what may have lead to some of the modifications.

Now that is an early modified asphalt pounder, nicely done.

Progress report. I believe the interior will fit just fine including the rear seat. Eventually I’ll bend up a roll bar. I decided to use an engine from the 32 Roadster from Revell. I did remove the timing cover and installed the one from the 57 kit to use the stock engine mount. I’ll need to fab a trans mount still. Other than some fine tuning, I’m pretty settled on the rear axel. More to figure out. Hoping to focus on this one but I’m in no hurry.

Now that is a lovely model, well done clean and detailed, I like it.

That kit always seemed like such an oddity to me. This is cleanly built with a nice finish, well done.

Nice looking model....

Such a nice build. Color you say? Aside from the obvious Burgandy, a nice Silver and Black would be rich. It has the perfect body lines for a two-tone paint scheme.

I started this model several year ago and basically worked on it occasionally. I had no plan other than using what parts and pieces i had on hand. I’ll try to answer any questions you might have….

I’m gonna say this will be a progress thread, on account I have a PS Barracuda and the 55 custom to work on. But I’m a little excited to try this! I used the pill bottle trick for the tubs and scrap styrene for sheet metal and the frame. Then I took a bunch of measurements, cut up a Ford 9” from a Revell kit and narrowed it to fit perfectly. Wheel and tire combo from the AMT Corvette Gasser sanded and re-profiled slightly. I hope a little filler and sanding that chassis should look pretty good.

Impressive, I 've lost parts that big! Nice IG post as well... -
Thank Dennis, and yes they are. I just made up a pin to mount them on.

The number one key to a successful paint finish is prep! And primer is part of the prep, among other things. The thinner the thickness of primer/paint the more detail shows through. I find that airbrushing helps to keep paint thickness at an acceptable level, but preparation is still the key, I will prime and sand just about every part. Tamyia primer is my go to, and they have several colors including pink.

Outstanding weathering and detail, thanks for sharing. -
Very nice day, saw old friends and won a few awards. Even loaded the saddlebags and road the Roadking there. Found some tail lights for the 56 Long Roof Custom too! Thanks to Dave’s and the crew for a great show.
