  1. Two hours on the snowshoe trails with my wife this aft. Gorgeous day.
  2. Using the outside Mickey Thompson headers, made up a set being careful to save the siamesed ports.
  3. I seem to have gotten into a cycle. A truck, a restoration, some dio stuff, a new model, another restoration , some engines, then another truck. I get a lot of ideas here of course, others on the street.
  4. My comment was based on one of Andy's on Dec 20. And he says he was going to try and avoid excessive mods to the original body. My bad, he never said he couldn't. I should never, ever rely on my memory. Sorry if I ruffled any feathers.
  5. I thought you HAD to preserve the basic body. Which you have done. I would leave it the way it is.
  6. Can't wait to see how the young'un makes out. I love stories.
  7. As a "while the paint dries " project I started making a V12 out of two Mickey Thompson Pontiac 389's. Cut the blocks and heads of two engines and put them back together in a V12 configuration. Valve covers are scratchbuilt as is the valley cover. Scratchbuilt some vent caps and installed drinking straw cylinder bores. I managed to drill through a couple of valves. The water pump is from a junk engine and is mated to the bottom part of the Mickey Thompson front cover. I'm not sure what I will do with this engine yet. If It goes on display in the engine shop, I'll remove the head locating tabs, smooth the decks and add bolts holes, water passages etc. at least to one side and possibly show it with one side open. Then I might complete it and put it in the engine collection or stick it into something.
  8. Love it. Beautiful engines. The Potvin would work with a loooong hood.
  9. It is straight from the rattle can. I may clear it once I have the decals on. After all it is a truck, so that is likely a fairly accurate level of shine. I wonder if you can tell I'm trying to talk myself out of polishing.
  10. While the paint dries, I am playing at building a V12 out of two Mickey Thompson 389's.
  11. I used decals from an instrument face decal sheet and highlighted the rims with a silver marker.
  12. Thanks Mike, those are the ones I'd seen but forgot where.
  13. Is there someone in that list of aftermarket suppliers who offers headlight lenses. I seem to remember seeing some, but it would also be nice to remember where.
  14. The completed chassis and the painted body are sitting in the shop waiting for the paint to cure and for me to find the missing pieces.
  15. Not much, added the rear cab support which used to be the Ford's front crossmember. Also started prepping the cab for paint.
  16. I went with pearl red over silver. tried paint over foil on the little 427 emblems. Didn't work.
  17. David, I think in my case plausible is more to the point than accuracy. In any case here is my brake line job. Hope you won't be disappointed.
  18. I put the block under the frame. Probably in the wrong location. I may just run the brake lines to a point near the wheels with no attachment to the wheels themselves.
  19. Check dw1603's post of Friday @ 8:39. I looked up some details on the internet and decided to build a clutch slave cylinder (visible on the engine photo) and a brake line junction block. It was trying to install a line from the pedal box to this block that I ran into grief. I got instructions off the net.
  20. Added a little line to the differential. Started on the bodywork. Had a huge battle trying to put fittings on the pedal box, ending up in breaking one of the little cylinders. Took the box off the car, installed new fittings and put it back on. We'll see tomorrow.
  21. The shop called, motor is ready.
