  1. I received the Cobra windshield, frame and spinners from David Snoeyenbos (mod3l Lover). Thank you David.
  2. And here's what he has:
  3. He picked the Revell Porsche 918 Spyder. I never clued in until we were back at the house that it was an advanced model. I spent quite bit of time showing him how to detach the parts, file the stubs and seams and Then glue them. The little shop we were at only had some tube glue so I got him to cut some 1" square cardboard pieces, put a drop of glue on one, use a toothpick to transfer the glue to the part. I showed him how to hold the rattle can away from the part and to swipe across. He has about six parts installed on the motor. I am on an iPad and have no clue how to post pictures.I will post one when I get home. He was so engrossed in it last night that after he went to bed, my daughter asked me to stay another day to work on it with him. He actually said it was fun.Good feeling.
  4. He will be 8 in May.
  5. Took my grandson to the hobby shop and bought him his first model.
  6. Nice job Jacobus. That will make an attractive rig.
  7. Thanks Dan, looks like the middle part opens and the bar that crosses it has a latch at one end and a hinge at the other end. I think I can make that.
  8. That is over the top. I hope that after its show career, your model is displayed publicly for all to see. There is enough innovation there to warrant an application to the Internet Crafstmanship Museum.
  9. Made up the "trough". At least I figure that is what it is. On the 1:1 it would catch spills from the filling hoses/nozzles. This one sits high because of the arc and the ribs. I'll see about working it down a bit. as it is it wouldn't hold anything. I also have to look at purchasing or making some tank hatches. I'm sure I saw some on an aftermarket website but can't remember which. Could someone take a close up photo of the ones on the kit tankers and post it with measurements? Started making a pattern for the rear bumper.
  10. The 1:1 has diamond plate catwalks on top of the box along the tank. Added some of that and started filling gaps.
  11. I like the subtle weathering. Is the hand truck aftermarket?
  12. That is exactly what I had in mind.
  13. thanks guys. It was to make the front corners of the tank body I an building. If I had allowed for it, the solid quarter round might have worked but I forgot and made square corners.
  14. Andy Lemble (1930fordpickup) had given me some stuff called Renshape. It is used in carving among other things . I made the rear fenders out of it. I made one out of MDF to compare. Renshape is much nicer to work with. Made the spacer between the side panels out of MDF as it is hardly visible. Attached the sides to the tank body.
  15. Added more bracing. Most of which had to be relocated for interference reasons. Added some compartment access doors.
  16. Is there an easy way to split round tubing to make quarter round corners?
  17. http://hobbymasters.com/line-o-tape-pinstriping-tapes/ . They go down to 1/64" width.
  18. Cut the side panels and rear extension.
  19. A few passes on the jointer and this will become a desktop.
  20. Thanks Dan. added supports for the side panels. Transferred the pattern for the front to styrene and installed it.
  21. Interesting project. V10s make good swaps. I have two in big Dodge trucks. So why not in a Ford?
