TAT International R190 tanker

More work on the dash. A bit crude, but it'll have to do. The gauge faces should be black but those fit better. Compromise, compromise.... The steering column is an example of my compulsion to recycle. the shaft is the core of a Q-tip, the base is a bit of telephone wire casing and the shaft of the flasher arm is one of the pins I used in the dash buttons. Chassis is nearing completion. -
Expensive then (lmiited production) and really expensive now, especially in that condition.

I figured I might as well, didn't scratch build the Blue Diamond to hide it. Actually the biggest part of the debate was whether to hinge it or simply as a lift off. -
Thanks Terry. I already have an AITM B61 and the Illini K8 is what I was planning to use.

Here are two trucks that I'd like to reproduce. International K8. It used to belong to a contractor in my home town. This is an amazingly clear photo for having been taken in the Fifties. I have some of his relatives on Facebook and I have approached them to try and find an image of his logo. 1955 Mack. Belonged to a retired contractor and collector. He restored his first Mack. He is shown below getting some award in the building where he stores his toys. We can see the '35 Ford Coupe, '37 DeSoto and '40 Ford pickup. The old fart with the DeSoto in the other picture is me.

A little bit here, a little bit there.... Set up the hood for hinges. Made some window patterns Painted the frame. It is glossy because it is still wet. Will be low gloss. -

Love it. I was going to ask the same question. I assume it is a swing out arm to support stuff? -
Love the split widow.

I'd say that is because it is based on the same basic body (GM intermediate). The balance and proportions remain. That is indeed a great looking conversion.

I agree with Bill. Back in the day you bought what was there or nothing at all. Now if you can find the right donor, between the aftermareket, eBay and very generous people on this forum, I find you can build just about anything. I also agree with Art when he says (at least that is how I understood it), the model companies are bombarded by requests whereas before they built what they pleased. So that a whole 'nother business perspective. That is my 2 cents.

Speaking of fill covers, where did I see some in resin? You are right, the Mack tank could likely do, however I'm not sure if I want to buy it just for the tank. -

Thanks Dennis. The slam locks was what I have in mind, but the Plaskit items may make some good hood hold down straps. -

A bit more work on the tank. Started on the running boards. The battery boxes will be in the valances. I need to find who makes the toolbox latches. AITM? Initially, I was going to use diamond plate but I thought ribs would be more appropriate for the vintage. -

Woodlites were used mostly on rare and exotic cars, Ruxtons, Dueseys, Cords,Jordans, Stutzes, Kissels and such. They are definitely at home here. -

I had started working on a tank using shapes from packaging plastic. Pretty nasty stuff to work with. So I started to scrounge and found some baby crib spindles that had the right shape and some sprue which could be turned into tank supports. Started with those materials. I am up to making a bead around the ends. Also adjusted the driveshaft to make up for the forward positioning of the engine. -

I have reached a satisfactory fit for the interior. Now that I know where everything falls, I can start on the glass. The potato chip container is almost the same size as the scale end on photograph. It is a wee bit more squashed in the photo. that could be achieved with glued posts inside to bring it out a bit. -

Absolutely fascinating. By my own estimate, based on the rate of development of my skills, I will be 367 years old when I reach your level. -
That is neat .well done.

Thank you. I'm still wondering whether to put the fuel tans under the tank body or as steps to the cab, like the diecast in my fist post.
