  1. Very nice. I like the stock clean look. My first pickup was a '68 so this brings back memories.
  2. I usually don't notice the ads and understand the revenue they make and am fine with that. It's just strange when they are huge and I have to scroll down more than usual to read the topic. I'm not complaining about it but thought I'd point it out in case it was an easy fix or needed to be aware of.
  3. I don't think Maxwell Smart (Don Adams) was the voice of Mr. Peabody but he was the voice of Tennessee Tuxedo. He and Chumley were always going to see the Professor.
  4. You have a point there but I have also witnessed many kids who saw their parents smoke so they end up smoking too. Same with drinking.
  5. Just wanted to point out I've been getting those giant ads when trying to read a topic. Also ads that are kind of ghosting the topics.
  6. Looks great! This car was so good looking.
  7. Greg, you mentioned mostly everything I would have and I remember The Banana Splits. Even had a couple of 45's of their music. Jonny Quest was always one of my favorites and of course all the Warner Brothers cartoons. Foghorn Leghorn being my favorite there. Never liked Popeye since it was the same story every time. Kind of like the Kung Foo show. Get picked on the whole show and then finally at the end you go off the deep end and let the bad guys have it.
  8. I like it.....a lot! All the added detail is really well done.
  9. Yes, the drag set is the one for me. I remember the old drag set with a '63 Impala and Chevelle. Bring that one back too.
  10. Calm down. Yes, I used the word "shocked" because people such as Bobby Unser were a big part of my auto racing past as a fan. Then after they retire you don't hear much about them and we go on our merry way and remember them occasionally and hope they're living a good life and one day we read they have died. It's a part of life and I'm glad he lived to 87 but it still shocks me when it happens.
  11. 87 years. Was a huge fan of his and shocked to see this. Such an all around talented racer from the older days.
  12. Soooo how did the General Tso chicken turn out? It looks good.
  13. Oh, how I miss the sound of the 8-track tape clicking to the next track. Good looking receiver.
  14. Since I build in the garage and it's usually 3-6 AM I like silence or I listen to music depending on my mood. The quiet can be relaxing and sometimes I hear an owl or coyotes in the distance and some birds when dawn is approaching. Always have considered model building a type of therapy.
  15. Thanks for the help. Hadn't thought about using my Dremel but that would probably do it except some parts are so small they would probably fly off and never be found. I have used super glue since model glue isn't going to hold. It's good looking chrome but hard to work with.
  16. First models built were a 3-pack of 1/32nd cars I believe. My best early memory was a Revell '57 Chevy with all the opening doors and such. Remember buying a model or two at Woolworths and riding my bike to the 88 cent store where I think models were $1.88 and then riding home with the model tucked under my arm. Best memories were riding my bike several miles to the hobby shop and scanning the model section. Back then it was always a surprise of what you might see since there wasn't an Internet to tell you what is coming out in the near future.
  17. Working on a Salvino's kit and noticed the chrome is very strong on the plastic meaning it doesn't come off. Scraping with a knife and sanding doesn't work very well. Eventually I manage to get a little off to apply glue but not always. Anyone figure out a trick removing it?
  18. Every morning before the sun comes up. I'm retired and get up EARLY every day so have a routine of taking the dogs out, making coffee and going to the garage and working on models for a couple of hours. I build several models at a time so do whatever I feel like at the time. Usually I spray some things if needed later in the day. Yard work, house chores, walking the dogs fill the rest of the day but always feel good that I got some model building in first.
  19. Wow, didn't know he was so talented. Just remember him from the old days of the Rifleman. As I get older I think 75 is too young.
  20. Mark, you practically said what I always say word for word. The excuses they use for rising gas prices have become stale and they must think we're awfully dumb to continue to believe them but there's nothing we can do. Also, we have the most fuel right here in the US and then we get it from Canada yet they love to throw out another excuse for rising prices because of some unrest or other problem brewing in Saudi Arabia. I'm sure there's more to all of this but I will leave that to people smarter than me. The price of kits keep rising but I still think the price of paint has gone up even worse.
  21. Very, very nice! Yes, I agree with your comment on who the best is. People always want to do that and it's too hard with all the different factors involved. But, I don't mind hearing people's opinion on this subject. Can make for a fun conversation.
  22. Very nice! I've only built some 1/24th Heller kits and can't say anything good.
  23. That's a hearty looking plant. Had 1 or 2 when I was younger and they never lasted long. Had to keep the bugs and hamburger cleaned off or it would mold. Think they needed a certain amount of water; too little or too much would kill it and they needed some warmth and humidity? Anyway, I'll toss in a dog pic to keep the subject going. mmmmmm sun!
  24. I never "forgot" about him. Always thought about him floating alone while the other 2 were on the moon. How odd would that be? And thinking what if something bad happened on the moon and those 2 weren't able to leave? Then what happens with Michael Collins? Anyway, it all went well and I'm glad he made it to 90.
  25. Your dog looks great. I think an old pickup would be a good addition to your diorama and assume it would be old and worn. Maybe keep working on it off and on and you'll have something you like. Gonna keep an eye on your project.
