There's been suggestions for me to look into Vallejo paint to fill the lack of Model Master colors. I have never used this paint and been looking on the Internet to learn about it. Keep seeing lots of paint "sets" and air brush only paints but I just want to buy a few bottles for brush painting. Black is one specific color and some suggested "air black" for a possible replacement for Model Master Chrome black but haven't seen that one. I do all my model and supply shopping online with different merchants so that's where I'd like to get these paints. Thank you for any help you can give.

Modeling vs. reality
TonyK replied to El Roberto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My enjoyment in building models is mostly replicas of 1:1 cars; mainly race cars but I can understand someone building a "fantasy" car that may or may not be possible in real life. Maybe it's a vision they have knowing it would never work for real. Saying that, I have never liked 1:1 custom cars. I'm talking about the ones you see at a car show with everything chromed sitting on stands with mirrors underneath to see more chrome. It's never going to run or drive. That to me isn't real. -
I can relate to your excitement. There's been a few times a B-17 flew over here while visiting a local airfield and there's no sound like it. I'd hear the sound first and realize that's not familiar and then look for it. Love it!

New Kits from Ebbro Announced - Tyrrell 005 and Lotus 33
TonyK replied to Justin Porter's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
They look good. Only built a couple of Ebbro models and they weren't F1 but I was impressed with the quality. -
Wow! Good for you (and them). I was watching it for awhile and figured it was a blowout so moved on. That's the thing about hockey. This type of thing happens a lot and that's why it's my 2nd favorite sport.

I like what you've done so far. For the floor, I'll grab a can of a slightly darker grey and fog it across and it improves the look a bit.

Good for you!

I come here to enhance my enjoyment of the hobby too but really enjoy all the other subjects that come up in the Off-Topic section. Obviously I don't enjoy people dying but it's interesting to read other thoughts about the particular person who is now gone. Since it bothers you so much I guess you can count on me not posting on this subject in the future.

1963 Chevrolet Half Ton
TonyK replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
So much talent with your model building and story telling. I enjoyed both. -
Have always liked his style of acting and many parts he played. Remembering way back in Catch-22 and he was great in Midnight Run and Taking Care of Business. Can't forget Heaven Can Wait also. Probably many that I've forgotten right now but I thank him for many hours of entertainment.

Very nice looking model and the drivers face looks great.

I laugh at anyone who starts a sentence or starts their answer to a question with "I mean..."

I like Funny Cars so want to build a lot of them but as you pointed out, they usually test your patience which limits my wanting to build more of them. Yours turned out great and I really like your paint and details that you added. Looks real nice! Thanks for sharing.

They either don't want a car or most often their parents give them a car. My first car was a '61 Chevy Impala but I can't remember what I paid for it and I bought it from a friend. Not a great car but it was black with big tires and mag wheels and Hi-Jackers in the back. Many other things I did to make it "cool" in them days. You really appreciate that first car when you buy it with your own money.

Don't think I smiled but you telling us about your dog definitely made me happy. And I assume your avatar is Shemp and he always makes me smile.

Turbo Tax will be much easier next year because it looks at all your last year filings and you're a step ahead that way. Just wish it could figure out a way for me to pay less taxes.

It looks great! Very clean and your building skills made a nice looking model. Personally I don't like MPC models and they don't like me so I can appreciate what you went through. You need to try one of the other brands and you'll enjoy your next Funny Car build much more.

I have never liked this car but having said that, I can appreciate a very nice model of it. A very sharp looking model and a beautiful paint job.

Loved Lancelot Link! Watched a few Jetson's lately and it's funny to see what they depict for the future. Some things are real now and some things are still stuck in the 60's. Adds some extra viewing pleasure just looking at that.

My son has been waiting for a big ol' Ford truck for work. His employer provides the truck for him which is good because he drives 100 miles a day round trip for work and it's also for his personal use. It has 159,000 miles on it and he is in desperate need for the new one but it is delayed because of the micro processor deal mentioned. I guess there's lots of vehicles built but sitting there waiting for the "brain" to be installed.

I used to record my own 8 tracks too and would try to fit certain songs within a track to avoid the click but not always. I remember the worst thing about 8 tracks was no fast forward or rewind capabilities. At least I didn't have that with my equipment.

Excellent. Looks like the real thing.
