It was cloudy and rainy/drizzly/nasty looking all day. But when I got up from my nap about 5:30, the sun was shining and it looked quite pleasant out. Seized by a Fit of Industry, I grabbed the bike and did another "baby steps" ride to the top of the hill. Felt so good I immediately did a second one! That makes THREE in a day! For me, that's a full-on Fitness Binge!

Very interesting...I'm gonna ask about these on my next monthly run to the smoke shop. Thanks!

I started smoking Camels in 1974, ironically as a way to cut down/quit. (It didn't work.) When the prices started getting outrageous, I switched down to a generic brand, and then a cheaper generic brand, and then a cheaper generic brand still. Have been through Pyramids, then Eagles, now on Sonomas. When I started smoking, a whole carton of Camels cost about what I'm paying now for one pack of the cheapies, buying them by the carton. Oh well, in a world where we're paying $40 for $2 model cars and $2 for a 10-cent bottle of Testor enamel and $9 for a 69-cent can of spray paint, what do you expect?

Cool, I'll check into that. And guess what--I don't even need the filters!

Oh, the other thing that pleased me today was watching Tricia win Street Outlaws Fastest in America 4. You might remember that it was only a year ago that she was horribly injured in that horrendous fiery crash with JJ for America's List. It was a real "Cinderella story." I was so happy for both of them I nearly cried with joy. ? "Tighten up, Zip-Tie!"

Looked like rain today, so I decided to get my "baby steps" ride in early. It wasn't as bad as yesterday. At the top of the hill, I actually thought I'd go back and do it again, but just then the rain started and I was afraid it would put out my cigarette. Maybe tomorrow. ? Yah, I know, and...SHADDUP!

Never thought I'd enjoy a man singing this song, but.... "It's like RAY-EE-AAAAAIIIIIN, on your wedding day..."

Thanks! Oh, I forgot to mention, the weight limit for the glider ride was 245 pounds. One year ago, before my stroke, I'm not sure I'd have made it, especially with clothes, shoes, and full pockets. Last Thursday in my doctor's office, with clothes and shoes (but empty pockets) I went 200 exactly.

Thanks. Yes, ASK-21. Felt like being strapped into a race car but it handled and felt like a Cadillac. I have nothing to compare it to, but it seems like a sweet ride. Just a ride with mini-lesson. Even going just to the solo point would cost WAY more money than I have to spend on such an endeavor. But that's okay, I'm fine with what happened. Man, ain't that the truth! I've noticed lately that it's getting hard to get up from the chair, and I find walking boring, so that's why I decided to drag out that old "barn find" '74 Sting Ray bike I sent you the pics of and light 'er up. The tires hold air and I duck-taped the seat into usability so I've been riding it. I live at the bottom of a little hill. The other day it took just about everything I had to get to the top of that hill, and in low gear, no less! Did it again today and it was about the same. The plan is to keep doing it every day until it's not that bad, and then ride it all the way around the block, and then down to the Post Office every day (about a half mile each way). Hope to be there in a couple weeks or so. And THEN I'll dig out my REAL bike (a 10-speed mountain bike) and start doing it for real. Hey, baby steps, right?

This is me today. Do I LOOK pleased? (Hint: One year ago today I was in hospital recovering from a stroke and heart valve replacement surgery.) ?

That was hilarious, thanks for posting it!

NOW I get it! That was a good one! I went back and gave it a . Now to come up with something acceptable for what somebody did to his lawn....

Very cool! I might get started Snake-Fuing mine this week.

Just discovered this one: But I think this might be my favorite version:

Hey, it's Mrs. Blake Shelton!

What a clean, sharp build! Very well done and model on!

Sweet! You don't see these built very often. I recently bought two of these and you're inspiring me to actually build one. Well done and model on!

I'm not a HUGE fan of the '65 GTO, but it IS an absolutely iconic musclecar so I have to have one on my shelf. Luckily I bought a Modelhaus front bumper/headlight unit (mastered off the original '65 promo), so if I don't like the headlights on the new kit, I'll put the resin piece on it and drive on. Here's an AMT GTO glue bomb I rehabbed/Snake-Fu'ed a couple years ago. (I don't know which reissue it is.) You can see how bad the headlights are. Aside from being slightly undersized, the cheap Welly diecast is about as good as it gets, after you fix the roof, which is a bit of extra work but CAN be done. It's the green one in the pic.
