  1. Good to know! The old Walmart Color Place Flat Black was a pretty good substitute for it too, but I haven't seen it in years.
  2. Very cool! Please keep us posted on this.
  3. Got three new goodies: 1. SA/FSM Contest Cars 2022, which surprised me at the one local book store I visit about once a year. 2. Order of Drag City Resin Thunderbolt teardrop hoods, including for '55 Chevy, '57 Ford, '57 T-Bird, '49 Ford, and '61 Ranchero. I think 2023 might be a bit of a Gasser Year. 3. And last but not least, the First Gear diecast '69 Chevelle SS396 in Fathom Green I've been looking for since 2017. BOO-YA!
  4. What everyone else said! You did a GREAT job on this and it really captures the "feel" of the era! VERY well done and model on! ?
  5. Oh, I thought of one--not a kit, but a diecast, the First Gear '69 Chevelle SS396 in Fathom Green. Been looking for one since 2017. And this week, I finally scored one on eBay--just got it yesterday!
  6. The BOWANI II Mustang was very influential in my build of the AMT Mustang AWB funny car in 2020, as should be apparent. I have strong reservations about those eBay decals, though, sadly. First, they're 1/24 and might have trouble fitting in the side "coves" of the 1/25 kit. Second, they seem to be in white. I saw the real car live in 1968 and I recall the "BOWANI II" and the "23" were in silver leaf--and pretty shiny silver leaf, too, not engine-turned. The shiny silver lettering on the deep candy-blue car was an extremely striking combination. You can see that I'm still fascinated by it now, 55 years later.
  7. Very Most Way Cool, thanks! I'd already figgered out it was an original '65 A/FX but didn't know which one. Glad to know it still exists. Thanks again!
  8. This morning my Walmart had the Jada '67 El Camino for $15. Was sorely tempted to buy another one, but I think I'll wait for another version with a shiny paint job--hopefully, metallic blue!
  9. I just checked--mine doesn't have them.
  10. I've been looking for one of these--a First Geat '69 Chevelle in Fathom Green--since first seeing this post on August 15, 2017. Last night I FINALLY scored one on eBay! Should be here by the end of the week. Happy Happy Joy Joy!
  11. Check today's date.
  12. If it's recent, you should be able to watch it for free at NBC.com. I have to say, though, NBC is one of the LEAST pleasurable streaming experiences I have. I have to watch The Voice or America's Got Talent Monday night episode that way, and the quantity and length of the commercials is absolutely maddening, (I have to record Street Outlaws at that time. The other NBC shows I watch--Chicago PD and The Blacklist--I record and watch later with my finger on the FF button.)
  13. I've heard several people whose opinions I respect say very good things about this book. It looks like we might be indeed on that road, and have probably even passed the last exit before final destination.
  14. After posting that last night, I had a fit of industry this morning and decided to see if I could find the painted one. By some miracle, I did! And in less time than I thought, too. It's actually in nicer shape than I'd remembered--if I didn't need the intact hood for the unpainted one, I'd be tempted to just restore/Snake-Fu it as a fairly clean old "survivor." But it'll look SO much better in that burgundy I have in mind. Notice the subtle crease line running down the middle of the body (shows up best in the side view pic). The "new" body is missing this feature entirely, and it would be VERY difficult to add. Now to find the unpainted one (I THINK I know where it might be) and then strip the hood of this one. Onward!
  15. Bill, I believe he used the tricks I showed in this tutorial I posted about eight years ago:
  16. In recent years I managed to score two built original annual AMT '67 Cyclones, one painted, one not. The unpainted one has a hole cut in the hood, which is a problem. The painted one's hood is intact. The plan is to try to strip the paint off the hood and use it to make a silicone mold to fill in the hole in the hood on the other one. If I'm lucky, the paint will come off cleanly and I can use it on the unpainted one and polish up that lovely 1967 AMT white styrene and build that one up that way. Then I'll use the silicone mold to fill the damaged hood and build that one painted Burgundy. I'll probably use that "new" AMT body to restore stock rear wheel openings on a AWB body and build up a good Eliminator II funny car on an old MPC Logge chassis. Ah, me and my grand plans!
  17. It never rains but it pours. I JUST got two Welly 1/24 diecast DB5s, one of them a 007 car. Oh well, I'll prolly end up buying one of these, too.
  18. Very nice! That "Bahama Blue" is very close to '69 Chevy LeMans Blue. ? One tip, if you don't mind: Cut away the hockey stripe decals right where they cross the door lines. You'll be amazed at how much more real the model will look with this done. Well done and model on!
  19. One of the better renditions of this kit I've ever seen (and you're welcome! ). The Rally Green with black stripes is a great-looking scheme (that's how I did my '69 Yenko). VERY well done my friend and model on! ?
  20. I can see it coming through with both.
