Yeah. Shame they're hacking up such a nice, original one--they should have started out with a clapped-out rust bomb. OTOH, I'm not a big fan of that car, as others on here are, so, at least they're not mutilating a Camaro or GTO or something cool.
-
I am SO jealous! But to be honest, the rare kit couldn't be in better hands. I gave up on trying to find one I could afford long ago, but last year I was able to fill that slot on my shelf with a VERY nice Welly diecast...for just $10, no less.
-
Forgot to mention it last week when it happened: On the Gas Monkeys show, they bought and flipped a 2G Camaro, which they kept calling a '74. But it was clearly a '75, with the big rear window. As I've said before, I wouldn't let those morons change my oil.
-
Then I cannot help you.
-
Very nice! You're right, put some bigger tires on the rear and get a little "rubber rake" on it and it'll be perfect. Model on!
-
Very nice! I especially like the mottled primer greys. Well done and model on!

You're off to a great start! I did one of these a couple years back as a MP drag car and it was a LOT of fun. The body scripts/emblems were a joy to work with. I wish ALL kits had scripts and emblems like that. One simple thing you can do to improve realism is look at photos of the front end of real '65 Chevelles, and add the two big cooling vents between the front bumper and the grille. You just reminded me that a few months ago I bought a restorable glue bomb '64 wagon. Probably gonna rebuild it stock, but haven't decided on a color yet.

Interesting, didn't know that! Conversely, EC wrote "Girls Talk," but his version of it is horrible. Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds and Linda Ronstadt all did vastly superior covers of it.

My grandson will be 2 next month and he's already got a big collection of cars, trucks, tractors, and so forth, most of them about 1/24 or larger, no "hot wheels." He has a bunch of them at home and we keep several for him here for when he visits.

GASSER -"Explosion" - 58´Chevy Impala 1/25 AMT
Snake45 replied to Fairfax's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I'm not a fan of '58 Chevies, but I gotta say, this is about the coolest one I've ever seen, so, well done and model on! -
Sweet score! I've never wanted one of those $10 worth, but I'd probably give $3 for it. I think it comes in a cop car version, too.
-
Y'all can thank ME for this reissue, as I paid $25 for this rebuildable glue bomb just over a year ago. It was just a matter of time.

Your panel lines look just about right with the "black BEFORE paint" technique. Drive on!

I think this is my favorite build of yours of all time. When I build mine, that's pretty much exactly what I want it to look like, except maybe without the stripe.

'70 kits and promos were done back in the day, both now very rare and spendy. They don't even come up on ePay all that often.

Interesting, didn't know that! Not that Rat Motors are particularly scarce at the Snakepit. I've got 'em from AMT, MPC, Revell, and Monogram. Although the AMT '66 Impala engine is interesting because it was one of the very first BBCs to appear in a model (along with the '66 Corvette Coupe).

Fortunately everything you're working with is un-do-able. Rubbing alcohol will remove the Molotow. It will also remove the Future, so you can easily get back to your bare polished plastic with no damage. I've found Silver Sharpie to be easier to work with than Molotow. Doesn't look as good, but is cheaper, easier to work with, dries quickly, and is much more durable. It also comes right off with rubbing alcohol. Forget about the Future and you can use Sharpie on your bare polished body, and clean up any overage easily with rubbing alcohol.

It was kitted, about a decade ago, by High Planes in Australia. This was when it had Sub-Lime wings.

Very nice, thanks for sharing them! Couple months ago I needed a C7 Corvette, especially a yellow one, for my Work Calendar Match project. Hit three Rite Aids but didn't find one. Oh well, I'm sure I bought something else cool just to console myself.

Just scored another original AMT '66 Impala HT rebuilder on eBay. It's not complete (no engine, taillights, wheels, tires, missing several chassis components) but what made this one especially attractive to me is it comes with TWO hoods, TWO front and rear bumpers (and grilles), TWO front valences, TWO bare chassis, TWO rear axles, TWO interior tubs, and one convertible boot I desperately need for a '65 convertible rebuilder I already have. Lotta good stuff for a couple of '66 Chevy projects I have going on, including trying to get one of the dirt-track modifieds onto the street.

Hobby Lobby Summer 19 clearance
Snake45 replied to Mr. Metallic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd call first before I drove 2 hours to find probably nothing. -
That coupe body looks pretty good. The roadster, unfortunately, still looks like the bloated Revell '67 roadster kit. Tell your friend if he wants to make a really nice '65-'66 roadster, start with the Revell '67 coupe. Cut the top off it and graft in the deck area from a roadster. It'll look 200% better. And if he REALLY wants to do it up right, widen the rear end just a hair so the hard top from the old AMT '65-'67 roadster kits (or the Modelhaus repros thereof) will fit it. I'll buy a couple of them. (I recently bought a cheap Revell '63 roadster snapper just because I wanted the wheels. I'm thinking of grafting in the fender vents from a Revell '67 roadster body I also bought cheap just for parts, and using the '67 stinger hood, and slinging together sort of a "rat rod Vette" just for giggles.)
