  1. This pretty much nails it. I've learned to just live with the thick glass, except sometimes I'll cut off the vent window panes and replace them with thinner clear stock of some kind.
  2. And when you look at it, it's not THAT far removed from some of the stuff being built at the time by pioneers such as Mickey Thompson, Tommy Ivo, etc.
  3. I checked the book and you're right--they moved the factory K-member forward 10 inches. I apologize for questioning it without checking first. I want to model the 1965 cars of Landy, Sox, Dyno Don, and Jenkins. This would be the last year these four would participate in the same class until the birth of Pro Stock in 1970. (Well, there was match racing in 1969.)
  4. I've got to order some of those Fireball handles sometime soon. And yes the trim is very Sharpie-like--I was able to touch mine up in a couple places with My Beloved Silver Sharpie.
  5. I was thinking Landy ran a Dodge van or truck I-beam front axle (and even tried to get it certified for A/FX use because it was a factory part) on his '65, but maybe he added that later in the year. I'll have to do some more research on that.
  6. The AMT '67-'68 hood will work if you shave a few thousandths off each side (left and right). I know because I did this to build a non-CI Z/28 20 or 30 years ago. The indentations even line up nicely with the cowl vents.
  7. Very most way extremely cool! You gotta love a survivor, especially one as nice as this. Thanks for sharing it with us!
  8. Very nice! I like this color/finish a lot and will have to try to find some. Thanks!
  9. I so need to build one of those. Thanks for showing us it can be done!
  10. Yah, I wish the body underneath was as good as all the good work I put into it. I have one of the Revell snappers molded in dark green I'm gonna polish up. I'm hoping it will end up looking even better than this one.
  11. "Light Red"? Looks pink to me. Or maybe Salmon, or Coral, or Melon, or some other euphemism for "pink."
  12. I knock off all molding lines and flash with files, sandpapers, Xacto, whatever, then block-sand the high spots such as around door lines, and then I go at it with either nail polishing sticks or Wright's Silver Cream or both. It's not terribly different from polishing paint. In fact, you can go a little harder, as you never have to worry about "burning through." (This does NOT mean that you're okay to use power tools for the job.)
  13. MANY of them found that to be true. Nearly all, I'd wager.
  14. Fathom Green was a 1969 color. This was Model Master British Racing Green lightened with a little Turn Signal Amber to approximate '70 Forrest Green.
  15. Daisy mags! Get 'em while you can, gang!
  16. Yup, that's just about exactly right! You should have asked them if they'd sell you some Testor bottle paints for 12 cents and a few rattlecans for 69 cents to go with it, too!
  17. As a matter of fact, I do!
  18. No, not that one. (I just cut the front fender cap off of it.) The writing is all over that one to show the changes I made to the one I DID build about 10 years ago.
  19. Very nice! Well done and model on!
  20. Amazing how many of those are still commonly available today.
  21. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! But isn't it, "There can be only one"?
