  1. Never got into 'em. I did buy the '55 Nomad back in the day hoping to turn it into an HO slot car, but quickly realized that the body was FAR too heavy for anything like that. Somewhere along the line I came into possession of the HW version of the Tiger Shark--was it called Python? I don't remember when or where or why I bought it, but I did.
  2. One miracle at a time, my friend.
  3. Just read on another forum that new management at Photobucket has come to their senses. Came here and checked, my old AMT Camaro improvement tutorial is visible again: Check and see if YOUR old pics are back! If so, happy happy joy joy!
  4. Way cool! I have a restorable glue bomb '63 Riv missing only the rear bumper. Am waiting for a repro from Modelhaus even as we speak. I actually prefer the hidden-headlight '65 Rivs to the '64-'64, but it'll be cool to have a '63 on my shelf, just because you don't see them every day.
  5. Mine had pretty much all the stuff mentioned by others. I bought two '32 Fords, another Lindberg T rod, and a prepainted red 2014 Corvette. Might go back next week and get the cool old Lindberg 1/64 B-17 and B-58 kits. I haven't built those since I was a kid.
  6. Police Story was outstanding, especially considering its competition of the day (Baretta, Starsky & Hutch, etc.). I really enjoyed NYPD Blue. Every time they'd lose the star and bring somebody else in, I'd think, "Well, it's gonna be horrible now," and I was wrong every time. The new guy would be better than the guy he replaced, and the shows just kept getting better and better. The last season or two in particular were just outstanding. It was also interesting to watch Dennis Franz make the step up from supporting actor/second banana to star as the show evolved.
  7. Agreed. I just finished up a '77 Monza I started sometime in the '80s and was surprised at how nice it really was.
  8. The blue one is the one I was thinking of. I'm pretty sure the silver one is just CGI art.
  9. Been doing it for years. Another advantage is that (assuming you do it on DRY, HARD putty) is that it sinks in and hardens and stabilizes the putty, so it doesn't shrink and shrivel up years later. I do it after I've sanded the putty to final shape, and then give it a final sanding after the CA has cured.
  10. No, don't do it every day, but I've found if I go back one week later, and then two weeks later, there's a good chance that they'll have some great new stuff out they didn't have the first time.
  11. That's one solution. Mine is, the first time I use the bottle, when I put the lid back on it, I "clean out" the paintbrush on the top of it, leaving a streak or blob of the color. Makes it REAL easy to find next time!
  12. Cool! Now let's see the '63 Corvette made into a boat.
  13. There you go, channeling the late great Col. Jeff Cooper. "An ingenious solution to a nonexistent problem."
  14. That sounds like the kind of sick, twisted idea that I would have come up with. Well played!
  15. Indeed it is, and "my" store is showing the models. Yay!
  16. I wrote up a nice tutorial here, but the PB fiasco wiped out the photos. Anyway, if the pillar (etc.) is just broken, glue it back together as best you can with either liquid cement or superglue. Might look good for a while but probably won't hold. So when it's dry, you coat the backside of the pillar with a thin but wet coat of superglue, then lay a strip of newspaper cut just a little bigger into it. Press the newspaper or tissue down into the superglue with the point of an exacto, pencil, toothpick, etc--NOT your finger! If you can get the paper soaked through that way, great; if not, add a little more superglue on top of it, and scrape off any excess before it dries (quickly). Let the whole mess sit until it's cured (couple hours, or overnight), then trim the excess newspaper off the edges with a NEW excacto blade. It's amazingly easy to do and gives a thin, strong bond.
  17. Yeah, that looks closer to the color of mine. I'm finding the plastic VERY hard, which makes scribing out the door lines a bit of a chore. But you know me, I HAVE to do it....
  18. Nice score--lotsa guys looking for those '70 MPC GTOs, kits, glue bombs, promos, whatever. Do you think it was painted silver at the factory, or did someone do it? I have one, red on red with "factory" clearcoat. Does yours have a special number on the license plate molded into the rear bumper? That was part of some special Pontiac contest or giveaway that year, but I don't know what you could win. I like those wheels a lot. They look great on it. Nicely done!
  19. I did that, no models...BUT noticed that the flyer I got was for THIS week and ends the 16th (today). So I'll check back for the new one tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
  20. Yeah, the MPC '67 Vette chassis slides right under the AMT body, but it's a bit of a PITA to build because the molds are very worn and there is a LOT of cleanup of parts to be done. The Revell '67 Vette chassis are better, but they're set up for a big block, so might need some adjustment for a 327.
  21. I'll bet no individual store gets "74 different models." Most stores get cases and cases of a few things, other stores get cases and cases of others.
  22. I'll be going Saturday. They've jacked the prices. The last few batches were $7.99, or were they $8.99? Either way, I know I'll buy at least a couple. It's right on my way to Hobby Lobby.
  23. I fixed a broken '59 Vette windshield frame last month with "fauxberglass" made of superglue and a little strip of newspaper. Now it's even stronger than it was before.
  24. PM sent. Thanks, friend!
