Yes, I've seen others, but not Dremels. -

For years I used a Dremel cutoff saw to match molded-in rivets on aircraft fuselages, where I had to sand down the joint at the centerline. It worked great. Then I lost or misplaced it, and apparently about that time Dremel discontinued it for some reason. Everywhere I've seen Dremel stuff sold since then I've looked for another one, no joy, and none online either. Dremel only has the fiber cutoff wheels now. -
Very clean build, and the color looks very close to '69 Dodge Bright Green. Well done and model on!

Same here on all counts. Back when I was building model airplanes, it was no big deal for me to do 3 or 4 or 5 airbrushing sessions in a single day. Nowadays, it's a big stinky deal for me to fire up the airbrush for model car work. And the longer it's been since I've airbrushed, the more I dread it and the longer I put it off. I did do some airbrushing three days ago, though....

You gonna build the long wings or short wings? I've seen the real thing. It is a VERY impressive machine, even all these years later. -
Shelby real or fake?
Snake45 replied to Scott8950's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Am I the only one who sees that it doesn't have a '67 Shelby front end or headlights on it? Looks like a standard '67 Mustang 2+2 with Shelby side scoops and stripes and a pair of added headlights (the wrong size) in the grille. -
Very cool project, keep us posted! Drive on!

Agree completely. Both very political but entertaining. I'm bright enough to enjoy the entertainment and humor and reject silly politics. Re-watched Glengarry Glen Ross. If you want to see some ACT-ing!, this is the movie for you. Mostly they're acting like this movie is about something, which it isn't. Jack Lemmon in particular chews up the scenery, all the props, and several of the other actors. The whole time I was watching this, the Meat Loaf lyric "Desperation, desperation's in the air, it leaves a stain on all your clothes and no detergent gets it out" kept playing in my head. Re-watched Braveheart. Pretty good.

Yah, rebox of a Revell kit. I have a glue bomb of that around here somewhere. AHM was primarily into model railroad but in the '60s they also imported/distributed the very cool little 1/87 ROCO tanks and armor. I had dozens of them! I also have a 1:1 scale model of a Walther P.38 with AHM on the box. I think they also had some model airplanes, such as some early 1/72 Fujimis--I think I have so-labeled F4U-4 and -5 Corsairs.

The new paint still smells a little, but was dry enough for some careful handling to unmask and do another attitude check. The paint match is pretty good on the left side. On the right, it becomes apparent that the original paint was thin on that whole side, which is why I nearly "burned through" polishing to take the decal goo off the door. Oh well, I usually display my cars driver's side out anyway. I'm pretty pleased with the improvement in the formerly dirty, finger-handled areas of the roof right above the doors on both sides. Also pleased with how the new paint shine matches up with the old rattlecanned stuff. And Kudos to Testor for making the paint the same color for over 50 years! Still some fine touchup to be done with a brush. Did some cleanup and Molotow touchup of the little 13" Cragars that will be going on the front. Also took this time to clean the molding lines off the resin grille and the sides of the back bumper. Thanks for the encouraging words. The idea here is to make this look like a model that was built in the '60s and then found and restored today. Trying to use as many vintage parts as possible.

I've lost count of the times Zip Tie has been wrecked. Three? Four? Five? I wonder how much if any of it is original. Heifer's been wrecked at least a couple times, too. -

Hey, it's your model. Paint it the way YOU want. Say it's a "Day Two" deal. That frees you up to put whatever wheels/tires you want on it, too. -

I thought so too, but that's not Hummingbird--it's basically a white Nova with blue sides, the same color as Hummingbird. Pretty sure the white 1G Camaro isn't Cody Baker, either. -

How does that A-37 compare to the old Monogram? I have at least a couple of those in the Snakepit, patiently awaiting my attention. -
Yesterday I airbrushed the orange touchup areas. I'd planned on having to lay on a second coat today or tomorrow, but it looks like it went on very smooth and will look very much like the original paint in finish. It was a little chilly in my paint shop yesterday--I wonder if the lower temp helped the paint flow out better? Last night I brought it upstairs and let it sit in the warm bathroom with the dehumidifier running, for a faster cure. I'm doing my best to leave it alone today, as it still smells like paint--gotta let it dry at least two or three days before I drive on. Would hate to ruin things now with a stupid fingerprint.

The 405 has their own show. Seriously, though, they didn't do that well at NPK (except, of course, for Ryan Martin), and not all that well on America's List, or Mega Cash Days. I'll be amazed (but very, VERY pleased) if JJ's crew comes out on top of FIA 3. If I had to lay down a bet right now, I'd put it on NOLA, who seems to be pretty strong everywhere. I've already spotted at least two people on FIA 3 I can't stand, and will be rooting against. Both California, I believe. I hope Chucky and crew kick Calli's butt, but I'm not expecting it to happen. Speaking of the 405, it looks like this season will be nearly a rerun of last. But Chief is already 0 and 2. I'm having a hard time imagining the 405 going to America's List without him--I just don't see him letting that happen, one way or another. -
Walmart got in what seems to be a "Corvette Collection" from Motor Max--a whole series of Vettes, all in white with red interiors. I saw a '58, a '67, a '79, an '86, a 2019, and at least one, maybe two other late models. I already have the '69 in red. The '58 looks just like an AMT kit I wrestled to the ground last year. Already have one of the '67s, in red. So I got the '86 because I'm pretty sure I didn't have a 4G diecast. It also fits into my own collection of white (plastic) Vette roadsters with red guts, which so far includes a '53 and a '58, might add a '63 this year. If you're into Vettes, it's worth checking out. ETA: Just looked at the back of the box and it definitely IS a "collection." The set includes '59, '67, '79, '86, '97, '05, '19, and '20. So that represents all 8 Corvette generations, right?

I just noticed yours also has the side marker lights. Neither of mine does.

Very cool, Gramps! Yours looks much better than mine. They got the hood blackout right on yours, anyway. And the headlight surrounds. I assume yours has clear headlights?

Very clean, very convincing! Well done and model on!
