Absolutely fabulous--my favorite build of yours yet, and that's saying something. I have a glue bomb to restore and believe it or not I'm planning to do it almost exactly like this. (Not sure if I'm gonna use the stripe or not.) Thanks for the sneak preview!

You could put me down for three or four of those. -

Would be interesting to see if AMT could pull that off. -
I've played around with these wheels, and I think I have a couple 1/24 diecasts they'll work well for. Meanwhile, at HL today, I noticed that they sell a pinewood derby "car kit" with these 4 wheels, axles, and a big block of wood for $3.97, but JUST the wheels by themselves are $4.97. Dahell? I bought a "kit." I can always use another sanding block, or something. Meanwhile, at Walmart, I bought a set of nice, very fine paintbrushes for $4. 10 brushes in the set, two are VERY fine and four others are still small enough to do moderate detailing. Six good detail brushes for four frogs? I remember over 20 years ago I'd pay more than that for ONE detail paintbrush. Is this a great country or what?

'65 (AMT) and '66 (Revell) Chevelles. All I can think of at the moment. There's always the various '55-'57 Chev Nomads, too.

Agree completely. They are stealing from your friend just as surely as if they were taking money out of his wallet or bank account.

Now that's different and therefore interesting! Well done and model on!

Pretty cool! These old-school retro builds are always fun, aren't they?

`Polished Plastic ; Please Share'
Snake45 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
True. I'm currently polishing a 2016 Camaro molded in a nice pearly red plastic with plenty of swirls. But I've decided to just live with them in this case and drive on. I can always paint it later on, if the mood strikes me. -

Yup! -
These Winfield Terra-Thrusts were also in the AMT '64 Vette roadster, IIRC. So if they don't look exactly like the '25 T wheels, maybe they're from that.

AMT 1969 Cobra questions
Snake45 replied to fairlane1320's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good info, Mark, thanks! The Cobra issue I built had Cobra emblems molded on the front fenders. Apparently some of the real cars had cartoon-like decals here, and some had metal emblems like the model. I suppose it's an early/late thing but have never heavily researched it. The Motor City Resin body doesn't have these emblems. When I do mine, I'm gonna see if someone has decals available. If not, I'll foil-clone the metal ones off the kit body and use them on the resin. -
No headlights, no second seat, and I think the wheelbase might be too short for a gasser. NHRA would no doubt put it into Altered.

Very nice! I have a Welly 1/24 diecast sitting on my desk at work that could be the exact twin of yours! Well done and model on!

AMT 1969 Cobra questions
Snake45 replied to fairlane1320's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I built one in the '90s and thought it was a nice kit. IIRC, it only had two "special problems." The whole rear panel was molded in chrome, so had to be carefully brush-painted to match the rest of the paint job. And the little chrome trim strips on the roof gave me fits until I decided to make them out of--hold on, now--Christmas tree tinsel! It's not a bad looking model. I bought a coupe body from Motor City Resin a couple years ago, and I'm gonna do another one as the coupe. -
I dig it! Very cool indeed!

Another great retro box--and the box art car is in the lovely Emberglow! Outstanding! -
Plastic Spoons for testing paint?
Snake45 replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
AND the bottom of interior tubs, the tops of chassis, and other "big" parts that won't be used or won't be seen in the finished build. (These are especially useful if you need to know if some particular paint will cover some particular color of plastic.) -
Like you I'm not a fan of the '64 Impala. Your photoshop pic if anything makes it look BETTER. I say go for it!

Yup, Bill's right. I never use anything heavier than #320 and that only for coarse work. Removing mold lines is more like #400 or #600 work.

Wow, great box! Here's another one I might have to have just for the box. Those Round 2 devils!
