  1. Ron, do you still have the cut-off hardtop? I have an otherwise nice '66 body that someone chopped the top off of, and then chopped the windshield. As I don't care much about convertibles, it might be fun to try to restore it back to a hardtop. (The cutoff top didn't come in the deal.)
  2. Dave, what year is that car? I have a "project" '66 that might work for that.
  3. Cool! I'll try to find some of that tomorrow.
  4. That thing's badass! Now I want one too!
  5. Coincidentally, I've been looking for a black powder I could mix in with epoxy or superglue to fill gaps on black plastic that I'm going to polish...was thinking of creating some sanding dust with black styrene...any other good ideas, something I might have around the house or could get at Walmart, cheap?
  6. Oh my that's a beautiful box--it's right up there with the '66.
  7. Very nice! I think that's about as close as you can get to the movie car from that kit, which is actually the old MPC Switchers deuce with a chopped top.
  8. The only problem is that 95% of military modelers are working in 1/35 scale, so wouldn't be interested at all. I'd probably buy one, though.
  9. Bumping this to ask a question: I just realized this is in Workbench and not Under Glass. Is it finished, or is this just a waypoint before further amazing work?
  10. Very sad to hear this. I continue to pray for his recovery. It's never too late for a miracle.
  11. It works great on hobby lacquers (old AMT, new Testor) and many acrylics, and can work EVENTUALLY on some enamels (but not all).
  12. This is a common mental block, I can tell you from personal experience. Fix it as best you can, finish the thing up, and drive on. You'll do better next time.
  13. That doesn't look too bad at all! Is that box-stock finish on the wheels? If so, I'd flatcoat the spokes, or paint them a matte silver or steel color. But they don't look horrible now.
  14. That's a great suggestion! Sort of like a "liquid sanding block." Sweet!
  15. I'll be using kitchen foil, which is a little thicker.

    Hemicuda!

Very, VERY nice! I especially appreciate these pics right now because I'm in the process of building (actually, more like restoring) one of these at the moment. Well done and model on!
  17. In the case of a larger emblem (such as the fuel filler), I'm gonna mask the foil off with liquid mask before painting. The finer Corvette scripts, I'm counting on the paint polish-out exposing them. Gonna make that "polishing through sharp edges" thing work FOR me for a change.
  18. That's a good one! I'm going to be trying that on some AMT '65-66 Corvette rebuilds very soon.
  19. What's the paint again? I looks two different colors in the above pics. I really like the brownish looking pic! I'm gonna do a model in a metallic brown sometime soon. You hardly ever see a model in metallic (or nonmetallic, for that matter) brown.
  20. That's about as nice a stock engine compartment as I've ever seen in a model of any kind.
  21. I agree, as would the window frame chrome and other trim, but I think he was going for an "as-issued" promo look.
  22. I also concur. I do this kind of thing all the time. You're lucky it was plain white, and not something like a candy or pearl. PS: After fixing, you'll always see this "wart" because you know it's there, but I'll guarantee you that 98% of the people who look at this model will never notice it (unless you put it in a judged contest). And BTW, I also often touch up polishing "rub-throughs," chrome trim run-over, and other little flaws with a brush. If anyone here has ever spotted one of my makeup fixes in a posted photo, they've never mentioned it.
  23. Absolutely magnificent restoration! Simply superb! I have a glue-bomb '70 awaiting its turn in the Snakepit Resto Shop, and I hope it turns out as clean as yours. Well done and model on!
  24. '07? I've got them going back to about 1965.
