  2. The coil spring on the front suspension driver's side breaking on my Peugeot Estate as I left for work. Got it to local garage, so there's a couple of days wait and a bill. All due to a lack of road maintenance according to my spanner man. Bah! steve

  7. Any recommendations on disposing of old X Acto blades? They're clearly too dangerous to throw in the bin. Thanks! steve
  8. An excellent piece of work. The original (standard) car was regarded as a bit of a joke at the time here in the UK. This was due in part for the front end to become dangerously light at any sort of reasonable speed. Airfix used to do very basic 1/32 version and I built a couple in the 1960s. steve
  9. The thing is, that car modelling mags are nonexistent in the U.K. Even Kalmbach's Scale Auto is invisible and there are NO UK equivalents. Add that to the lack of kit retailers it's a wonder there's a hobby at all over here. Before anyone says get a subscription, I don't always want everything in every edition. I prefer to view the actual publication to decide if I want it. steve
  10. Dead right! steve

  14. In 1967 there was a joke shop/fancy dress hire shop opened up in my old home town of Slough, by the brother of a famous British comedy magician called Tommy Cooper. For some reason he had a stock of AMT 1/25 car kits, several of which I bought after pestering my mother for the money. One I definitely remember buying (and building) was a '67 Corvair Monza Coupe. There was also a newsagent/sweet shop near where I used to leave that sold Pyro 1/32 scale cars and their 1/16 scale motorcycle kits. steve
  15. if people did, lawyers wouldn't be so rich... steve
