  1. It's gonna be like 1965 again. I ain't complainin'', either.
  2. Could be that the Rustoleum sales rep used an Owney Madden-style hard-sell pitch. Hard to say no to somebody like that.
  3. NO. The polymer used is resistant to all knows solvents. Your only options are the following: Fastening Infrared welding Laser welding Ultrasonic welding Heat sealing Heat fusion Think I'm kidding? Look up polyethylene/polypropylene.
  4. Like the prodigal son returning home.
  5. Unlike some here with jaded eyes when it comes to Aurora's old kits, I wish Pete and Rick nothing but the best. There can be a real treasure trove of long unavailable models coming down the pike.
  6. I bought the kits from Fred Sterns. Fred is a standup guy who is well known throughout the hobby. I've bought many kits from him over the years and he always packs the kits well. This wasn't his fault. It's all on UPS, not USPS.
  7. I didn't get the kits off ebay and UPS is the culprit. When I drove linehaul for Con-Way Freight, UPS had terminals next to ours at a couple locations and I know how they mistreat parcels. I'm beyond disgusted.
  8. I waited twelve days for a package, sent via UPS, from Buffalo, NY to get to me in Brooklyn. I ordered a Johan Desoto Adventurer (a kit I've been looking to get at a reasonable price for a long time and finally got it) and two AMT '41 Plymouth Coupes. Well, the parcel arrived this afternoon at 5:46 P.M. Check this out: Yeah, I got the package. It looked like it went through a shredder. The box was smashed and crushed with rips and tears along the corners. Two of the three kits were damaged, the Desoto and the '41 Plymouth with the red car on the box. As you can see in the photos, both kit boxes were severely damaged, the lower right corner of the Desoto as seen from the top of the box and the upper left corner of the '41 Plymouth. The boxes are torn open and parts were falling out into the packing box. The Desoto's left tailfin is crushed and is missing the dash, steering wheel, both taillights and two tires and backs. The red car box Plymouth's window is cracked and broken, the hood, dashboard and right inner fender are missing and there is only one (1) stock Firestone tire. For all I know, all of the missing parts could have fallen out of the box. The holes in the packing box were large enough for the loose parts to have easily fallen through, as a result of all the abuse the package was subjected to by UPS. There are a few words I could use to describe this; but, let's just say it's not a pretty sight. These kits had the c_rap knocked out of them. I'm not happy at all about this. I've been trying to find an affordable Johan Desoto for the longest time; and, when I finally am lucky enough to get it, this kind of happy horsec_rap has to happen.
  9. Ordered some stuff on Aug. 16th. Package sent via UPS on Aug. 17th. It is now Aug. 27th and still no package. 10+ friggin' days from Buffalo to Brooklyn?!?
  10. Yeah......Okay.......Right. I have the Revell page bookmarked, too. Guess what? It now redirects to Revell.de. No Revell.com....just Revell.de. 'Splain that MR. IT. Mebbe it's because that Revell in Bunde is in nominal control of all Revell-related matters until everything is sorted out and a bona fide U.S.-based operation is established so there is no point in having a U.S. page at this time. The internet version of the Loud Family.
  11. Is your inbox full? I tried to send you a PM.
  12. There's a generally recognized, commonly used term for it; but, using it can lead to getting frogmarched out the cyber-doorway.
  13. "Workable" molds are irrelevant since they wear out after "X" number of pulls. New molds are made using master patterns.
  14. Separated at birth?
  15. Pour a small amount of bleach into a container and drop the chrome parts in. Use a toothbrush or Q-Tip to speed up the process. The plating will disappear in a few minutes and won't damage even resin. Once it's gone. rinse the parts in water.
  16. I'm one of those gripers. I have no problem shelling out mazooma for a super detailed car kit with loads o' parts a la armor kits. However, I ain't dumping 200 bucks on what amounts to an unassembled promo, no matter how rare it is. I might like to own one; but, not at that kind of price.
  17. In one of the modeling mags from the late '80s - early '90s, there was a listing in the new kit section. It was for a 1/43 Daytona Coupe kit from a Japanese manufacturer. This wasn't your average resin model. As a matter of fact, it was made out of brass. The whole model. Brass chassis, drivetrain, suspension, the works. Oh, the body panels were formed from almost paper-thin brass, too. You had to assemble this yourself by brazing or soldering the parts and everything you could possibly imagine was functional. What really made this kit stick in my mind was the price...............$1699. I've been trying to find more info on this for years.
  18. I didn't Must be on the "enemies" list. What's the scoop on the new site?
  19. Checked the Shelby Store and this is available for $59.95. Lots of other nice 1/18 diecasts listed, all of which are superbly detailed.
  20. It's a 1/18 scale model by Michel Stassart. More info here. It looks like a 1/18 Shelby Collect diecast, which is really detailed and goes for 67 bucks.
  21. This is a photo of Mary louise Cecilia Guinan, famously known as "Texas". She was the Queen of the Speakeasies during Prohibition. Her famous catchphrase was, "Hello, Sucker! Come on in and leave your wallet on the bar." I believe she is the patron saint of online sellers.
  22. Whoever thought that the Low Rider Big Slicks version was a good idea should have been broken on a big wheel.
  23. Nope. Same result attempting to respond as with trying to send one to you.
  24. Numbers to corroborate that would be appreciated. Also, as mentioned in another Revell thread in General, model cars weren't the only line kits Revell produces(d). Round2 doesn't need Walmart to ensure sales of its Star Trek franchise are going through the roof, either.
