Thinning Mr. Surfacer 500

it sounds like its on its way out so i'd guess you have nothing to lose by experimenting with it. does it get any softer in consistency if you give it good stir? -
What paint do I use over rubber?
stitchdup replied to Mike C.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
thats for plastic bumpers and trim, it wont stay stuck to rubber -
on this side of the pond many insurers are refusing to cover evs and those that do cover them are charging a lot more. even towing companies are having to get new trucks to lift burned evs into air tight sealed steel crates as they have a habit of bursting into flames agin hours later. there are fields full of nissan leaf evs just being left to rot away as nobody wants them. I've said it before and i'll say it again, hydrogen is where we should be looking. use windmills to make the hydrogen and you have a clean fuel with water as the emmissions (which if they become popular could possibly be beneficial to drier areas. the hydrogen can even be made on site if theres a power source for the production units. all electric cars and vehicles are going to do is put food prices up and regularly burst into flames (and i'm sure all those burning chemical fumes are really great for the enviroment and us)

What paint do I use over rubber?
stitchdup replied to Mike C.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
a restoration supplies shop might be a good place to look. i've got flourescent dyes from them so yellow wont be a problem. i found these in the usa https://easyshoecare.com/product/yellow-spray-paint/ or a much more expensive version https://www.backdrophome.com/products/porsche-speed-yellow-interior-standard/ -

the interior dyes are spray cans. i've only seen the fabric paints for brushes or screen printing. if you get the interior dyes direct from the maker they can colour match for you. I get them from frost but its a uk company -

you could try paints/dyes for recolouring vinyl and leather interiors. It will have a bit more flex than other paints so its less likely to flake off. fabric paints could be another flexible option. I would expect these to be better options as other paints will just flake off if you need to bend the boots as they are for solid surfaces. -
if you use ad block plus it does this. i use ublock and everything works for me. I'm using firefox on windows 11 and i also use facebook container cos anything with a facebook link causes my browser problems without it and most ads have them even if your using an ad blocker.

fruit/vegetable boxes from the supermarket. big enough for most trailers and just needs a little packing around them. each box will hold 2 trucks and trailers and they are stackable and strong

What did you see on the road today?
stitchdup replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
if they're as popular on the mainland as they are here i cant see why they wouldn't keep selling them. there must be 30 of them running around here now and at least 4 are this version. i think most are v6 though. they're so common we have a phrase for them but its not repeatable here, lol -
AMT 1959 Cadillac Ambulance First Look
stitchdup replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The green hornet kit was always going to sell well. Anything related to marvell sells loads, and the only places i've seen the green hornet kit is comic and memrobilia stores at full msrp. Its the same with the back to the future, a team and mad max kits. if you are looking for them go in these shops instead of model shops and you have a bigger chance of finding them in pretty good condition -
Bugatti Type 51 Engine Details
stitchdup replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
not sure if its type 51 http://bugatelier.eu/?page_id=2361 http://bugatelier.eu/?portfolio=engine there was a bare chassis and engine at the 2009 techno-classic show that could get you some good pics too. -
Working with resin / 3D printed parts
stitchdup replied to RocketFoot's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would use automotive filler primer when preparing the bodies, and i hold the can low to the part I'm painting so more paint catches in the print lines. It makes priming take longer as you can only do one direction at a time but it saves on paint and sanding. If there trim or detail you want to save mask it off before priming and then dust it with ordinary primer after the main bodywork is comlete. Then its just paint as normal -
I've just spent some time on inspirobot.me its an ai generated inspirational quotes app but its not doing a great job unless its goal was humour. Heres a selection of the ones i got that i can post cos some were a little off colour, lol

Does anybodyhave any tips for using the clear 3d resin? I got it to do light lenses and smaller parts as the layer lines could maybe work in my favour if i orient the parts correctly but i'm not sure where to start with the settings. I have a spare tank to use to reduce the risk of cross contaminating. Its the water washable stuff i have if that makesa difference. I figured asking here was the best place since we're all doing similar printing

AMT Silverado Bench Seat
stitchdup replied to av405's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
to get those seats you'd probably have to rescale or change dimensions in the slicer but a starting point could be one of blackbox's seat seta that have front and rear seats. if you turn off the scale all setting you can change the width of the rear seat to use as a split bench with a front seat. The closest I've seen is sold as truck bench seat and has 2 cup holders in the centre. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/turck-bench-seat-with-cup-holder-25aug-s14 there area few single seats that match this bench fromvarious designers
