  1. and after all the hollerin proceed to spend 3 times as much on aftermaket parts for it
  2. dont give up yet, i can print you a chassis designed by meatman who is a member here and has some files free on cults. If you know the length and width you need i can print it to those sizes. you'd still need suspension and all the rest. its a show rod chassis but it should work for you
  3. you could put a small bit of rod on the back and make them removable for the best of both worlds
  4. i mixed it up with the honcho kit, but if you ask dimitry he'd probably be happy to do his body in 1/25. He did a some custom wheels for me a couple of years ago and it was just as quick as ordering from stock
  5. are any astronomy pics even under 500k? all the ones I've seen look like they would be far bigger
  6. I took my nieces out for a walk to see some dolphins and we ended up getting a unplanned trip to see orcas as well thanks to a kind man in a boat. It mad my nieces holiday even better for them as we normally only see seals
  7. fiat spider vw engined drag racer another fiat with vw engine oh lets have another vw engine drag car custom 500 v8 fiat 126 fiat 500 with lamborghini v12 and 4x4
  8. i can print out the side windows covers, i have a transkit file for the crazy porsche that had tracks for snow racing a couple of years back and it includes the covers. its to fit the fujimi A
  9. unfortunately its harris which ironicly is an island that makes fine haggis, the owners missed atrick there, lol
  10. second attempt bt unfortnately its foggy
  11. searched the other company thats plaque is on the ali part in the centre too. might this be steam powered as thats what jensen mfg co produce?
  12. its kinda cool. i searched stromberg-garlson and it seems there some parts from old telephones used. What does the rest of the vehicle look like?
  13. is it not included in the recent release?
  14. theres another of those style campers with the ribbed side panels. it looks to be for a long bed though, however the sides appear to be separate pieces so they might chop down in length. its on cults
  15. Its a nice selection of stuff, thanks for the pics
  16. Ooh that is nicely weathered, will it be low or stock?
  17. these trailers are only for rear engined vws. all the weight for the van is at the back so the wheels have been moved further forward to keep the balance in the centre of the combo. if the wheels were further back the steering would be far too light to be safe as all the weight of the trailer would be pushing down on the rear of the van. keeping the wheels centred on the trailer relieves this and makes it easy for people that cant reverse to move the trailer. it would be garbage on a front engine vehicle as the balance would be off
  18. if your up this way i can easy find you somewhere to stay for a few days. the boat journey aint great at that time of year though.
  19. i'm not sure but it turns out i've known the builder and painter for years but never knew it existed. They did a mk1 escort van into a pick up too (i owned it for a couple of weeks) and a early bedford cf with more custom paint that i do remember but this one was new to me. The bonnet is completely scratch built and is the only non original part. it took me a while to realise it was a vauxhall cresta under all that paint. The best time to get the northern light is frosty nights between novemeber and febuary but they have been seen further south for the last few years so you may only have to go to rural yorkshire to see them this year. if you see a solar flare mentioned on the news you will be able to see it that far south. they never look as good as the photos do though unless its a really big flare but those pics tend to be poorer quality due to the obvious interferance from the flares.
  20. the hearse is the old town hearse. it was laid up in a shed and completely forgotten since the mid 50s. they only found out about again in the mid 90s when they went to demolish some old buildings. they were told it was empty and it very nearly got flattened when the digger put the roof down. if they had started at the other end the hearse would be destroyed so it just luck that it survived. my uncle has it stored in one o fhis sheds but its belongs to everyone in orkney. It still runs like new even with all the crud on it. at one point the council were trying to sell it but we convinced them it was better to keep it here where it was in its history instead of selling it south where it would have been ruined by restoring it. each of the rear windows is hand engraved and replacing one would cost over 50k
  21. it does this sometimes. it does polish up still. its just taken a little of the moisture while it was drying. I've used the 3 tamiya compounds to polish matt black duplicolour and primer up to a gloss shine but that was using pads up to 3500 first
  22. try some cutting compound on it. duplicolour is pretty forgiving if it dries flat. I've had black dry flat grey but a quick rub with compound brought it right back. I used the fine tamiya compound on it
  23. Its our local vintage club show and this year there was an awesome original 70s custom in all its garish glory and its probably my fav this year. The special displays are vw golfs as they celebrate the half centuary this year and triumph. There should be a lot more cars tomorrow as there was an agricultural show on elsewhere today so a lot of farmers were there. Many more pics in my flickr albums, sorted into the different groups - https://www.flickr.com/photos/111449995@N04/albums a few pics from sunday, much more at the above link. i think my fav today was the ford saphire cosworth with an engine swap to the cosworth v6 from the the scorpio and a pair of turbos. a lot of work in the conversion especially to look as factory as this one. I've included some land rover conversion that can be built using c1 transkits and a little imagination
  24. Its car show weekend for me. We're having a display of vw golfs this year for the 50th annivesary and since we didn't have a mk8 i've convinced my BiL to get his all cleaned up and shining like new which took a while cos he had his daughters at the beach last week. I'm hoping theres at least some modified ones since thats what i'm into
