  1. I have a few of them too, but I don’t think any are the really sought after ones. Never built one but they look pretty good. I go back and forth between car kits and airplane kits every few years and right now I’m head over heels for cars. But I still pick up the occasional airplane when I see a good deal.?
  2. Nice looking Merc. You don’t see this one built everyday. Looks great.
  3. Wow, that’s really nice. Super clean build.?
  4. This is a really cool idea. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.?
  5. I’m on the hunt for this one. I’ve hit every Ollie’s within about a hundred miles. Zilch. I did find it and a bunch of other current Ollie’s kits in a junk shop yesterday. But they marked them all up to $23. Just trying to make a quick buck.
  6. Got the final color coat on today. After it cures out I’ll hit it with Testors wet look clear and we’ll be in business.
  7. Time for a quick mock up. To my eyes, the front wheels look just a touch too far forward. I don’t think it will be a big deal to correct. maybe shave a little off the back of the front axle. Notice the body filler on the side. There are two ribs on each side inside the body that create sink marks. Also, the instructions say to sand down the bottom of the oil pan. They aren’t kidding. You could build it without doing that, but the oil pan would almost certainly drag. Side note. This is a little weird. When I was cleaning the parts and filling sink marks, I noticed the body had a little twist to it. I was all set to correct that today before the mock up, but when I put it on a flat surface, no more twist!? Definitely not complaining. Just interesting. But I’ll take all the breaks I can get!?
  8. It looks like this. This is GM torch red. It should look just like the cap on the paint can.
  9. I think it looks terrific. Your weathering looks great and really adds to the overall feel. Really nice work.?
  10. Steve, you spray outside when it’s that cold? I’ve always waited until it was at least 60 degrees when shooting color. Even with warming up the paint. Has it ever been a problem for you? That would really open up my season. Currently I’m spending the summer focusing on shooting bodies and the other seasons doing things like clean up and assembly.
  11. Found this multi media kit yesterday for a pretty good price. This morning I opened it and it turned into a really good price. There are two complete kits in the box.?
  12. Those are both beautiful builds! That Trans Am... Wow!
  13. Your weathering is very convincing. Great looking build all around.
  14. Sweet! Warmoth is pretty good stuff. I used one of their necks on the first guitar I ever built. Going with a natural finish?
  15. Nice! One of my favorite cars. How’s the kit quality?
  16. These two followed me home today. The corvette kit is one that I built when I first got back into the hobby, about twenty ish years ago.
  17. So we hit two different stores today. As I mentioned, one was a bust, but Anderson IN had a few. I hadn’t seen this one before so I picked one up.
  18. Don’t waste your time on the Ollie’s in Muncie IN. None of the amt stuff. And as a side note, the entire toy section is a mess.?
  19. Those are sweet. Very realistic looking. Should really dress up a build.?
  20. What a phenomenal build. It looks like a real car! You can definitely say you went out at the top of your game. It's beautiful. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do in the future.
  21. Been thinking about the way the instructions say to build the frame for this. They say to build up the front half of the frame around the seat in step 2, and the back half around the engine in step 3. Not excited about that because it would make painting more difficult if you want to paint the seat and engine different colors than the frame. I did a bit of test fitting, and it looks like you can assemble everything on the frame except for the rear cross beam section. Getting the seat into position will require a bit of finagling, but I think it will go in okay. But there’s no way to get the engine in with the rear cross brace glued in place. Still, this is a better solution I think. At least now I can paint things any color I want. Got things glued up to this point. That’s as far as I plan to go with the frame until I decide on a color for the body. Then I’ll paint the frame to complement.
  22. I think HPI guy references this same feature in his YouTube build of the kit. And had the same conclusion as you Tim. Good info to have. Thanks.?
  23. That’s a really clean build. Great colors too. Nice work!?
