  1. I've found the same thing. I brush on a bit of Future before applying decals.
  2. Yep, that's what I ran into, too. I'm glad I stuck with it, though a few times it was almost stuck backin the box and shelved.
  3. Exactly what I was thinking... and it looks great! Well done!
  4. Wowie! I owned a brown '74 Sundance a long time ago and this is just about perfect! Your build looks much better than my rusty 1:1 version did. Beautiful job!
  5. Thanks for the compliments! Yeah... those decals... I used a combo of the kit's sheet and two (2) sheets of Slixx decals to get it done. IF they released from the paper, didn't crumble or tear, it was fun getting them to lay flat. I tried everything I knew of: decal film, setting solvent, warm water, slightly soapy water, spit, Future, and lots and lots and lots of patience (two months worth, off and on)... many of them just wouldn't co-operate and had to be re-done, hence the three sheets. Quite a few I had to float into place with Future and hope for the best till they dried. Once it was all done, I brushed on a final coat of Future, hoping to keep everything bright and in place for years to come. But overall, I'm very happy with how it turned out. It's a sharp looking car and looks great from a normal distance.
  6. Brilliant minds and all of that... I've got the '78 Cordoba on the bench as well, tho I'm doing it as a '79 300. I owned a '69 Newport Custom 2dr in the mid-eighties that I converted to a 300-looking car with a complete mint black 300 interior, front bumper and taillights. It was still a 383 HP powered ride, but Man! I loved that car! My resin version will be what the 1:1 car would have been like, had I finished it: a deep violet, shaved and lowered,, full skirted cruiser. Sorry for the thread highjacking...
  7. One of my favourite drivers... Those decals were a LOT of fun.
  8. I've collected all the pieces... just need to get to it.
  9. Very very nice. I don't see anything that I don't like.
  10. Very nice! I've got the two door version close to the top of my get-to pile. They are very nicely done trans kits.
  11. Beautiful job! Love the colour.
  12. The first time the chassis sits under the body without needing to prop up the wheels... I robbed the parts bin for a 400 4 speed combo, and modded the console to fit the 4 speed oar. It's not a correct fit but it works for me. Undecided what to do with the cargo area... there are some big ejector pin marks in the woodgrain, so I'll either cover it with something or fill the bed with scuba gear from the '70 Bonneville and whatever else I can cobble together. Comments always welcome.
  13. Very nice!
  14. Very very nice!
  15. Every day is love your pet day! Otto, the Great Dane trying to look intimidating, while his nemesis Lola sneaks around his feet. The railing next to Otto is 42" high. He stands 35" at the withers and makes the scale groan at 150+ lbs. Roscoe, the One Eyed Wonder Dog! Not much in the brains department, but easily one of the happiest dogs I've ever seen. Lola, the brains of the outfit. Deviously smart...
  16. 20, in gloss. I covered the gloss with a coat of Rustoleum Matt Clear.
  17. I love it! It looks exactly what a work truck owned by someone who cared about their stuff would look like. Nice job.
  18. Dug this 2+2 out of my gluebomb pile soon after I finished the '70 Bonneville last year. The leftover cargo bed and roof seemed like a decent fit into the '65... Comments always welcome.
  19. I'd like to see how the chassis fits, too. I think the reason the '71 Charger is spec'd as the donor is due to its wide distribution. I'd really like to snag one of those picture two-door B bodies!
  20. Yeah, I used the '71 Charger as the donor. The chassis itself needed no work to fit, but I did swap out the kit's 8 3/4" rear and stuck a corporate 9 1/4" under there. The 8 1/4" rear would have been the most common in this car, but some were built with the bigger and stronger 9 1/4". I had the 9 1/4" so in it went. I'm reasonably sure this resin was based off of a mid-70s B body like a Coronet or Fury. The windshield from the '71 Charger is a poor fit... I owned a '76 Charger Daytona back in '81/'82. Blue and black with a beautiful blue bucket seat interior and a sunroof. The engine was pooched so I swapped in the 360 2 bbl from my '76 Road Runner. Blocked off the EGR, ran full duals, ditched the lean burn and went with an orange box and a fresh set of Champions. It ran very well for a 4000+ lb car. There was a 3.21 single legger out back. A good friend at the time had a much more plush '76 Charger with a 400 4 bbl. As the know-it-all-my-car-is-faster-than-yours kids we were, we raced whenever we could. Never could that 400 ever get the best of the 360. Mileage on both our cars was terrible, but when we drove with our feet in the radiators, that's what we got. He still has the car, with a stroker big block now. Mine has long since been recycled into a Toyota... I'd love to have a round headlight fascia for this resin kit.
  21. Yeah... the front bumper trim isn't going to happen on mine, but I'm going to try and put the pinstripe on. Gorgeous car, by the way!
  22. Yup, Tamiya. It's a pretty neat little kit.
  23. Actually, it got tucked away in a proper case and is sitting in the cabinet, never to need dusting again.
  24. Back at it... Sprayed the body with Chrysler Cool Vanilla single layer urethane and the interior is Humbrol enamel burgundy. I've decided to build this as a '79 300 and have a resin copy of the '71 Duster engine to fit in there. Modified the left exhaust manifold to resemble a B body mani. It took a LOT of gentle persuasion to get the chassis and interior inside the thick resin shell... but it fits and nothing is broken, so on we go. The door panels aren't tight to the body so a little thought needed there. The tires are Fireball BFGs and the Super Coupe-style wheels are my own resin units, based off of Fireball's excellent cop car wheels. Comments always welcome.
  25. I built this little bugger quite a while ago. Dusted it off, replaced the missing headlight and took a few pics before it got tucked away again. British Racing Green with an off-white roof, it was done with single layer automotive urethane. Somewhere between the dusting and the photos, the left door handle went MIA. Reward offered... Comments always welcome.
