Well, this should be interesting. I owned a '79 Nova for several years. Drove it until it was too rusty to be roadworthy. That kit is a '79 BTW, not a '78. Only year they used the square headlights. Mine also had a set of 14" X 7" Olds Magnums but it was that light metallic blue that GM liked to put on everything back then The dash and sew pattern on the seats is wrong for that year Nova. The kit was originally released in '75 as a Pontiac Venture and the interior was never updated. Same with the engine. It's more Pontiac than Chevy. But I wouldn't worry too much about that. I'd just build it and have fun. ?

Mystery Vette and Car Craft Dream Rod
Can-Con replied to Snake45's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The extra gauges in the Vette are from the AMT "THE Cat" Vette kit. Can't say about the rest. I kinda like that custom hood though. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/tv--movie/amt-the-cat-corvett/zimg202.html#media The rear treatment looks a lot like what I did to this '62 back in the '80s. They must have seen the same pics I did. -
I'm sorry to hear that too Bill. Maybe the ones I got were better because I bought them at a show or maybe because they were strait recasts of an existing kit with no modifications done. But ,, yea, this will certainly discourage me from buying any on-line. IF i see them in person at a show, well maybe if they're $25 like the other ones I bought, maybe. But Yes, definitely not worth what these E-bay guys are asking for them. ??

Is there a Photo etch for '67 Shelby Gt-350
Can-Con replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Model Car Garage used to do a very nice one. it's featured at the top of the home page of their website but strangely, it's been out of production for years. It had 3 grilles, one with the holes at the outer ends, one with them in the center and one with no holes. You might be able to find one on e=bay maybe?? Or possibly try contacting them to see if they still have any or could make up more. I'd like to have one myself. https://www.modelcargarage.com/eshop/pc/home.asp -

My model building days are coming to an end

So sorry to hear that Carl. I hope you do stick around even if you won't be building. It wouldn't be the same without you. -
Simply outstanding.

TV "Star"cars that never were kited
Can-Con replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
'78 Volare Road Runner. MPC made the annual back in the day. The '80 was re-released just a couple years ago and should be relatively easy to find. -
Just fabulous Steve.

Make mine a Sport Wagon -
On the site, it says all product is cast to order so maybe try sending an e-mail asking about it. It looks like they cast them on a request basis so maybe you just have to make a request. Can't hurt to ask.

OR, you could buy that same kit directly from Model Car World for 40 bucks. https://mcwfinishes.com/shop/ols/products/1966-dodge-coronet-2dr-sedan $459.99 is quite a markup. ? ,,, over 11 times the original price.

'69 Cougar inner fenders resin
Can-Con replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I don't have the fortitude to build replica stock. That's why I build hot rods and customs. If someone wants to call my work wrong I don't really care. -
'69 Cougar inner fenders resin

That would have been the MPC kit. It did have proper inner fenders. The AMT kit is a completely different kit. Remember, AMT and MPC were competitors at that time. -

Missing Link does an insert for under the hood of those Fords and Mercurys. I don't see any on thier e-bay page right now though. -
Revell '29 hotrod pickup.
Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Haven't worked on this one for about a year and 1/2 so it took a while to remember exactly where I was going with it. But I think I have it all figured out again. Didn't really do much with it today but I did get the rear trailing arms pinned at the mounting points I made on the frame. Not sure if I'll go with the buggy spring on the rear or do it up with coil overs. Either way, I'll have to make new spring mounts on the axle. -
AMT '65 Impala box art custom built with Revell kit
Can-Con replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Got the front end about where I can now start on other things like the back end and top chop. Not %100 yet but the body work that's left like final fitment of the hood will be done after the other big stuff is dome so I can do all the finesse work at once. -
This is a rebuild of a car passed on to me back in the late 70s. Originally belonged to my cousin Rocky who passed on from complications from diabetes 10 years ago on the 12th of this month. We were like brothers growing up. Very simple kit. Body was shaved of emblems, door handles, etc. Revlon nail polish finish. Wheels are from a Jada 1/32 Cobra Roadster, they scale out to about 17" on this car. Tires are a set of Monogram 1/24 Goodyear Gatorbacks which fit the wheels quite well after cutting out a raised ridge from the inside.

Not a lot of detail inside this one and I didn't bother doing much besides paint and flocking. Only change I made was adding a basket handle shifter, the kit only comes with a stick which is incorrect for this console. The car's actually almost finished. Just want to add a bit of detail under the hood before I call it finished.

It's an MPC "Blackjack "T"" kit with a few mods.

I just did a little checking. I've known for years that you can't easily swap the old tool AMT '69 grille /bumper onto the newer tool AMT '68 elCamino ,, BUT I just checked the Revell '68 grille into the AMT elCamino. right width. I'd say the Revell '69 should fit with a little sanding.
