  1. Nice work. And welcome, we can always use another Steve. ?
  2. Simply beautiful. Great attention to details make this a real standout. ???
  3. Not the same Meteors, The American ones were a mid-size Mercury only built in '62 and '63,IIRC. The Canadian ones were full size cars. BUT the Canadian ones were not built in '62 and '63 while the name was being used on the American cars.
  4. I hadn't really thought about what style it would be besides a commercial flavored hotrod but ,yea, I guess "resto rod" would fit it best.
  5. I don't think you'll get an answer, the poster hasn't been here in almost 3 years.
  6. The JoHan Toro chassis, engine and all underhood parts were the same through the whole run. The '70 is the easiest to find but any from '66 through '72 be exactly the same. [JoHan did the annual Toro every year from '66 to '72.] ALSO, the JoHan Cadillac Eldorado kits used those same parts with the only difference is they put "CADILLAC" script on the valve covers of the Olds engine. So, if you happen to run across one, those parts will be the same too.
  7. IIRC, the "X-Tasy" van has the same custom parts and I remember someone printed copys of the decals. Or for an even cheaper way to go, the "Dirty Donnie" van is easy to find and has some of the custom parts. Missing the chrome bow-tie grille and headlights and spoked wheels. The wheels are the same as the ones in the '63 Vette and '66 Mercury. That would get a guy pretty close.
  8. There's one on e-bay right now ,, with a "buy it now" price of only $349.99. ?
  9. The wheels and tires don't look like the ones from the kit. They "might" be Modelhaus. ??
  10. Steve, as you know, I did not participate in that particular thread and nor would I belittle anyone elses build decisions. Although, truth be told, I did try to find a pic of a mobility scooter with donk wheels on it to post as a joke, I came up empty. ?
  11. True. His cars do get those kind of prices.
  12. Keep that in mind then when I start insulting your builds then.
  13. It's JoHan ,, or AMT. The MPC kits had separate front cornering lights with holes for them in the front fenders and the inner fenders/firewall/rad wall were all one peice.
  14. That's actually how I'll be building my '60 Plymouth wagon. Candy rootbeer brown and cream top. But you really got to knock off with the "clown car wheels" statement, it is insulting.
  15. Nope, those are one-piece and come 6 on a tree.
  16. Not really. It's a touch too wide. BUT, about 15 years ago I did cast the grille from an AMT '70 Blazer a buddy of mine had. I got one good piece from my castings but ,, too big. Guess what? Smooth-on resin shrinks slightly over time. That grille has now shrunk enough that I can fudge the fit by sanding the sides and I'll now be able to make it fit.
  17. I fall into the 4th Tom. I don't worry too much about scale and don't measure or do the math because there's no point. Even if something I'm working on measures out correctly, some other part of it won't. If something looks "right", then it looks right. No amount of measuring will change that. I'd rather build something that looks right than worry about fractions of inches and never get anything finished. Not for everyone, I know and that's all right. It's how I do it. Other people do things differently and that's all right too.
  18. Really like'n the color Dale. If you had the decals, you could replicate the "Convoy Van" version. It's body was molded in that same color plastic.
  19. Thanks for the offer Jack, but I've already started fixing it. Pretty easy repair.
  20. I'm glad to hear that you're still casting Jeff. I hope to be in a position to get one of your '67 Chryslers in the new year. This year's been CaCa for me too. ?
  21. Just a couple update shots of the engine.
  22. Did a bit on this last weekend . Decided to use this MPC cab and interior instead of the newer AMT cab shown above. It is a bit rough compared to the unused cab but the grille and front bumper I want to use belongs to this cab. Did a bit of body work. Also rounded up most of the parts I'll need for this build. Unfortunately, the only MPC hood I have has a large hole in the center. I'll have to fill it. Either with some sheet plastic or a large blower. ? Opened up the grille from an AMT Blazer and removed it from it's surround. I'll grind out the existing grille from the MPC part and swap this one in. It looks better to me but I may swap the bow-ties as the MPC one looks better proportioned. Here's my widened fenders. Doing the math, the assembled box would be 5 scale inches narrow as came in the kit. I added about 2.5 scale inches to each fender. Looks better to me and now the math works out.
  23. I've never seen this version of the Revell pickups built before but I am old enough to remember Billy and his brother Jimmy. BTW, the dealie with the rear fenders is they are not GM design. The box is an aftermarket design Revell used on a bunch of pickups with just a different smaller bed part for the mini-trucks but using the same fenders. IIRC, the company was "California Stepside" .
  24. Here in Canada, it's a lot simpler. 1 inch in 1/25 = 1 millimeter. ? I can actually do the conversion in my head. ?
