The most common kits with those tires are the Monogram Lambo Countachs. I love those tires for street rods and compact cars like VW Rabbits.

Someone put a lot of work riceing that one out. Just looks wrong. The body panels were made in my home town of Minto ,, in the winter,, in a warehouse with very little heat. So if anyone was wondering why the body panels on those always look so bad, well, now you know. 🙄

1997 GMC C3500 Sierra
Can-Con replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Chuck, the thing that strikes me the most on this one is the fogged headlights. A very common thing with vehicles getting older. My 2012 Impala has them. It's a very subtle but realistic touch. -
What other kits have these tires?
Can-Con replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Sorry to say he's wrong Monty. Those tires do indeed come in the latest reissue of that kit. -
Not really sure where to post this but here it is. I'm sure a few will be interested in them now offering the service. I'm adding a link to their post on their board, I hope that's OK. Prices look to be the same as Dale was asking at LMKC before he closed down. https://board.spotlighthobbies.com/?page=1;md=read;id=416903

You're not a Maritimer too, are you Steve??

Ron, with that swirly silver plastic and sunroof, I'm pretty sure that's the remains of a Monogram '79 Indy Pace Car.

The wheels and tires need to be swapped side for side Rob. Both are backwards as they are now.

A 71-74 Charger dash would be pretty close to the right shape. Instrument panel itself would be way off but maybe you could work with it.

All the AMT '55 /'57 Chevy pickups that are NOT marked as "street machine" have stock front axels. I "think" all the stock ones are Cameos though. I'd think you could use any strait axel that's wide enough though. I'd check in gasser kits and any kits with a gasser strait axel option. I'd sent you one [IF I have one] but our post office is on strike right now.

I'm digg'n it Chuck. I kinda thought this thread was dead really. Nice to see some action on it again.

How about one from a Revell Charger kit? If it's not a close enough match, just swap the remaining one as well. Detail Master also makes a couple different photoetch wiper sets

Autoquiz #621 - Finished
Can-Con replied to carsntrucks4you's topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Michael, the wheels on that particular car are from a later year Thunderbird. They are not the TRX wheels it came with. Probably changed because the TRX wheels were a metric size ,usually hard to come by in some places. -
Fastback Pontiac- Concept 1965
Can-Con replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Take a closer look guys, there ain't nothing "stock" anywhere on that body of that car. -
Barris would put his name on anything for a buck. He was well known for buying customs other people built and putting his name on them like he built them himself. Those stickers were great, weren't they? Whoever thought "rub and stick" dry transfers were a good idea for a model should have been fired. But, Good on ya Jim for jumping right in there and start cutting. A bit scary at first but don't be afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes are how we learn what works and what don't. ?

Any Sign Of the AMT 1977 Camaro?
Can-Con replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's what I read in the Scale Auto review of the kit back when the it was released. AMT never did a '78 or later 2nd gen. -
I'd suggest adding some sort of bodywork surround to the grille opening to smooth it off. Like what a Mercury has to give it a more "finished" look, maybe even use parts from a Mercury. The AMT '49 Ford coupe and '50 convertible both have custom pieces that could easily be adapted for this. Different year but you get the idea.

Mark, Just an FYI, the '72 Blazer roof is exactly the same parts. Probably easier to find parts from the Blazer as it was reissued a couple times. In fact, apart from the chrome tree and decals, the kits are identical.
