  1. "Scalemates" motto should be "Some of the info, some of the time, sometimes correct ,, but not always". ?
  2. Dennis, could you post a pic of the new decal sheet please? I'm hoping it has decals for the centers of the Cragars. I's do a trade with you but it looks like it would cost both of us over $20 each just for the shipping. ?
  3. That was never in question Dennis. I was ONLY referring to MY OWN car which does not have any computers. I don't know how that could have been mistaken that I was referring to ALL 3rd gen F-bodies but it seems it did. I think Sean and I have the misunderstanding straitened out ?
  4. Hey Bill, you know you can't receive messages? I tried PMing you, no go.
  5. Sean, why on earth are you arguing with me about this. NO, I did not buy the car new. I DID buy this carb and installed it. It's exactly the same as the one I took off except it has all the missing linkages and choke that the old one didn't. Also, it's a Canadian car. Canadian LG4 engines didn't get the CCC system. It doesn't matter anyway, I said "MY CAR" , not '85 Trans Ams in general or any other cars,, "MY CAR". Sorry if you mis-understood my post, I was only talking about MY CAR, which I do know and understand what is under THAT hood.
  6. Yes, it's an HEI distributor. I didn't say it wasn't, I said my car does not have any computers in it. [copied directly from my posts above ,,,] "No computers in my '85 Trans Am, Bill. The most advanced piece of electronics in the whole car is the cassette deck. ?" "Mine is an HEI ignition but the earlier version with no electronics added."
  7. There are no computers attached to my engine.
  8. Mine is an HEI ignition but the earlier version with no electronics added. BTW, never said it was exactly "stock", now did I ? ?
  9. Only the HO had the electronic Quadrajet, mine's the base model.
  10. For a long time a lot of people believed that the first part of Billy Joel's song "My Life" was referring to Richard Lewis but Joel has said it's actually about Tony Lawrence. "Got a call from an old friend, we used to be real close Said he couldn't go on the American way Closed the shop, sold the house, bought a ticket to the West Coast Now he gives them a stand-up routine in LA" My favorite Richard Lewis bit is from 2&1/2 men. Just perfect. ?
  11. I'd say the ones in Scott's pics are the '40 Ford ones then because the center caps are different.
  12. No computers in my '85 Trans Am, Bill. The most advanced piece of electronics in the whole car is the cassette deck. ?
  13. The wheels Andy is looking for are ONLY in these two kits, no other versions of them.
  14. This is the wheels in the Galaxie,, and this is the Nova
  15. Could be '70/'80s issue AMT '40 Ford coupe and Sedan Delivery or '57 Chevy. Both kits had KKs like that.
  16. This one screams "Beaumont".
  17. When I met my wife about 32 years ago. [Wait, that can't be right, can it?? ?] Her brother Mike had a '69 GTX. This a replica I built of the car as a Christmas present for him as it was when he owned it. Sadly he passed a couple years ago but his daughter still has the model on a shelf in a case. This was built about 25 years ago so be nice. There's a lot of things I would have done differently now to correct some of the shortcomings of the kit.

    1969 GTX

I think it looks good Ron. My brother in law actually had a '69 GTX when the wife and I met so I'm pretty familiar with the cars and all the glaring mistakes MPC/AMT made on the kit [including that horn mistake on the instructions]. BUT, it does build up pretty well and you did a great job with it.
  19. Are you on the path Brian? This will be my third total. I'm old enough to remember the one in the Carly Simon song ,, but just barely.
  20. That's just fantastic. ???
  21. I disagree. The layout of the engine in the kit and the shape of the valve covers could only be a "B" or "RB" engine with it's distributor on the front. [383, 400, 440, etc.] A small block Mopar like a 318, 340 and 360 are "LA" engines with the distributor on the back and look quite a bit different then the kit engine. In fact, they look a lot like a small block Chevy on a quick glance.
  22. Scalemates info is incomplete. MPC issues Elcamino annuals every year from '78 through '82. An'80 GMC Caballero "El Diablo" was issued as well. It is a bit difficult to keep track of the MPC annuals in this era as they stopped putting the year on the kit and instead named them ["Night Moves" "Branding Iron" "Red Light Bandit"] in an attempt to keep the kits from being viewed as "last years" kit. Plus of corse, the "86 SS" update that was done in the early '90s
  23. Yup. Here's a page from the AMT Nova's instruction sheet. Note the part # on the Cragars.
  24. I bet you have the California Wheels reissue of the Elcamino, right? It has the wheels thrown in that originally came in the wagon,, along with a few other parts that are on the tree with them. SO, it actually has a total of 6 door handles in the kit. I'd say those Cragars are from the AMT stock '66 Nova.
