  1. The other day I played with correcting the roof on the 70 Galaxie police car. Did some more yesterday. Not perfect, but looks better. I need to do the window frames now.
  2. Wow, I never noticed when this thread actually started, just happened to see it on the first page.
  3. Great timing for this thread. I am wanting a Chevy with auto trans for my 70 Impala and 76 Caprice kit.
  4. Looks great!
  5. Very nice, but not a fan of the stereo or wheels and tires.
  6. Yea, what about glue? That being phased out?
  7. but you could get the country sedan wagon and possibly order it with the ltd/xl grill
  8. few cuts, getting better. I wiil track this with a build thread later
  9. Who's Rich? LOL Yea, I am pretty sure the only way the wagon got the hideaway headlights was with the Country Squire option. I bet somewhere someone special ordered A Country Sedan with hideaways. Could not stand looking at my Galaxie an not trying something, I started trimming and cutting to make it "more correct" I do not expect 100% tho
  10. Watch Ebay for the 70 LTD grille and use the 69 Galaxie hood. Conversion done...
  11. To me the rear looks like a 77-79 Cougar... I love the 79/80 Pinto Bumper. Nothing classes up a Corvette like Pinto parts...
  12. I have had one in the works for a bit. I ended up putting steel pins in the rear of the hood to hold it when closed. Works better than the small plastic pins molded in the hood bottom.
  13. Yea, the hood trim should be part of the hood, fairly easy fix with some patience. Other than that, the grill is not that bad. As for interior pattern, I do not get that crazy with accuracy.
  14. Well, I am a stickler for bodies looking correct or very close to correct. Some I will correct, others I will not bother with. Older kits, well, they were usually pretty darn close and I usually will not complain, it is what it is. My pet peeve is new molds that are not correct. This, IMO, is inexcusable with technology the way it is now. Well this post is an FYI of an older kit that I have built in the past and recently found it incorrect. The AMT 70 Galaxie police car has the wrong roof. Upon inspecting it closely, it is a modified version of the 70 LTD The hood and grill were changed and window frames added to the doors. If you want a Galaxie 4 door hardtop you are good with removing the door frames, but if you want a correct 4 door sedan, a little work is needed. Also to be pointed out, the vent window is incorrect, it is correct for a hardtop, but that is trivial in my eyes Unfortunately I am not starting corrections on one at this time but my plan does not seem difficult. Below are pics to show differences in the roof shape. As you can see, the actual sedan has more of a slope to the roof and window frame whereas the LTD (and kit) have more of formal type roof. I'll probably fix one just to do it and make another a hardtop, To most, it is not a big deal, but I just wanted to point it out.
  15. I just stumbled across this build. Very nice indeed... but I am biased
  16. I am trying to get back to more box stock with some details because my build time is limited and it seems nothing is getting "built"
  17. Looks great!!! Did you spray the Future Shine?
  18. Kitbashing... that's a tough one for me. Sometimes it is as simple as swapping engines or wheels, other times to add some accuracy or detail. What I do enjoy is taking leftover stuff and building "something"
  19. Awesome looking build. Any issue with the rear tire position in the wheel well? Any more pics?
  20. I have a Ford C-900 tractor, Haulaway Trailer and a bunch of 66 Fairlanes, Galaxies, Mustangs and Thunderbirds to put on the trailer. Hope to get it all done this year. Cars should not be a hassle since they will be stock and not super detailed.
  21. That is a great looking build. I have never had an issue with a multi-piece body, but of course even as a kid did nor follow the instructions. I always assembled the body and clamped, rubber banded it to the chassis. Granted, my 2 experiences were the 57 Ranchero and 59 Skyliner. As shown above and other postings can be great looking builds. Actually, the 57 Ranchero is much more accurate when it comes to the body contours than the current Revell 57's
  22. Looks awesome.. These are always fun builds. The only thing I'd have done differently is sand the trim off the roof and remove the vent windows. Other than that, I'd call it perfect.
  23. I bet they are blue anodized....
  24. I know what you are dealing with concerning the chassis fit. Dealing with that on mine now. Are there stripes on the one you are building this tribute to? If so, I cannot see them. Sun glare? Keep on going, it looks great
