Haven't ridden since the labor day weekend 1980 at the request of my wife. On a New Harley when I met this nice old lady in a 68 Rambler Ambassador. Spent 4 days in the hospital not knowing if I was going to ever get out of bed again. Had little to no feeling in my arms and none lower as a result of cord shock. Everything came back fine after that. The bike was totalled, and my insurance agent said he never got my message and so it wasn't covered. She had no insurance.

What non-auto model did you get today?
OldTrucker replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
This just came today. FedEx left my package on a porch across the alley with the same apt. Number, again. Everything still sealed in their bags. The decals do look iffy. May have to try and find another set or have some new ones made. -

Just had a great trade with Rocketman 455! Thanks Chuck!

AMT Fruehauf Tank Trailer
OldTrucker replied to OldTrucker's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The edges of almost every piece has to be cleaned up. Horrible alignment of the dyes make it impossible to completely clean up the parting lines completely and nothing lines up. And I thought the original release was bad! LOL -
My sister is in a nursing home, her bank account was frozen because they saw suspicious activity. She tried to order something from the store on her debit and it would not go through. She called the bank and they had froze it the night before. Said it was a porn site attempting to set up a recurring subscription. Now she has to wait 3 to 5 days for a new card.

But it is always a great feeling to be home, ain't it! I remember always needing a vacation from my vacation!

One I built decades ago and my son had it. He decided to mold the flares in but soon lost interest in model building. Appears to be testers putty that he used. I redid the interior and painted yje underwood area in Grabber Green. Paint can leaked and had to toss it. I just don't have the coordination nor the eyes for the finish work. What ya got to trade? Just finished the trailer. Put it off for a long time fearing putting the decals on something so bumpy! LOL Jerry's decals were great only used testers decals set with them and they settled in good with a little work.

Really sharp build! Gold is a hard color to do!
-
Wow!!! Love that color ! Great looking build Carl ! Was that the kit that came with a non stock rear panel and you had to source a stock one from somewhere?
-
This old kit was lurking around a long time so decided to get it built. Decided not to do a WIP as it is just an out of box build.

Enjoy life while you can still travel!

Just keep on trying Carl, never give up! I can understand what you are feeling, not anything near your issue but have increasing tremors in my left hand. Really slowdown any progress.

I met him when he was running a shoestring operation. His guys would cash their paycheck and hand most back to John so they could compete at the next track! Really dedicated team! That says a lot of what kind of guy he is that they would do that! Many times at tracks in later years watched him at the table signing autographs and a little kid, especially if it was a girl would be there and he would ask if she like ice cream. He would go into the truck and come back with a soft serve cone for the kid! Had his own machine!

He is in neuro icu. That most likely means closed head injury. Been there twice, not fun at all. Don't picture this guy quitting.

Mack F Model Byrd Motor Line
OldTrucker replied to DRIPTROIT 71's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Great to see a Mack Cabover of that era built! Yours looks great considering what you had to work with on the cab! -
Going to the doctor tomorrow as instead of a couple days of pain I'm now at a week so the wife made me call the doctor. Have to admit this time is more intense than past flareups have been. Add in my GERD and fatty liver disease and it can get rough.
-
Met him back in his early days and he is just as genuine today as he was back then when he was running on a shoestring!

That so cool that my wife even loves it! Like the Mercury conversions you are doing! Rare trucks!
